speaking of the Athletic, I think one thing ppl don't appreciate about Trae is that he's a really good dude
The Athletic's Hawks' reporter called a fan 'broke' for not wanting to pay to read his article.Trae Young wasn't having any of it 😤 pic.twitter.com/t6W1YME6xI— ClutchPoints (@ClutchPointsApp) December 9, 2021

pacers need to ditch brogdon and sabonis. they're the same sort of player in that they both soak up a lot of posessions but are very limited in what they can make out of them. sabonis can't shoot at all or score on anyone bigger than him when it counts, and brogdon can't pass to the roll man (pretty important thing to be able to do if you are going to insist on being the "point guard").
per zach lowe "Indiana has some weird, minor allergy to hitting their big men rolling to the rim; they average only three plays per 100 possessions on which someone screens, rolls, and shoots -- 22nd overall."

turner needs to play with a solid pnr ball handler to bring out his best and he hasnt had that since darren collison in 18-19. he's right to be pissed about levert and brogdon being given licence to chuck up all sorts of shit while the team is going nowhere
― micah, Thursday, 9 December 2021 20:38 (two years ago) link
All true. Tough to know where to begin w/ the direction the roster should move. Their Top 5 is just a mess of borderline All-Stars with no glaring weaknesses (Sabonis' defense was probably the worst, but he's looked much closer to average this year), and they're all on decent contracts.
Curious if they end up moving LeVert. I think the outside hope was that he'd continue to develop into a crunch-time scorer, since that's one thing Brogdon/Sabonis/Turner demonstrably cannot do. He's off to such a slow start this year, but I wonder how much patience they'll have with his recovery.
Haaaate to say it, but I kind of want them to keep the team together through this year! I think the rotations will improve, and idk I just wanna see if, by the end of the year, all of these dudes are actually able to share the court at the same time. Honestly mostly bummed that McConnell is out for a long stretch; it's been nice to see Oshae getting more minutes, as well as Martin looking like a perfectly fine 2nd team scorer.
Or they can blow it up, and that would be fun too!

ESPN reporting with @ZachLowe_NBA: Philadelphia's trade conversations on Ben Simmons gathering momentum in recent days. More teams engaged, more two and three-way deal structure talks ongoing as 76ers try to land a Top 25 player for Simmons.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) December 10, 2021

Much of the renewed impetus surrounds Wednesday, when 84 percent of the league's 446 players become eligible to be traded. Right now, 65 percent are eligible to be moved. https://t.co/f2nYMp353z— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) December 10, 2021

both teams get better i dont see any reason not to do it
― Spottie, Friday, 10 December 2021 21:46 (two years ago) link
theres some incentive for the sixers to drag it out until the deadline in case they can do better but they should just do it get on with their lives
― lag∞n, Friday, 10 December 2021 21:49 (two years ago) link
well CJ having a collapsed lung currently would be one reason why not
― J0rdan S., Friday, 10 December 2021 21:52 (two years ago) link
"While far less frequent in the NBA, there are several examples. During the 2008-09 season forward Gerald Wallace fractured his fifth rib which resulted in a collapsed lung. The injury was significant and required a chest tube to drain the air from around Wallace’s injured left lung. Houston big man Terrence Jones also suffered the combination of rib and lung injuries during the 2014-15 season. Neither player missed a considerable amount of time as Wallace was sidelined for seven games and Jones was back in six."
― Spottie, Friday, 10 December 2021 21:54 (two years ago) link
hes got two lungs
― lag∞n, Friday, 10 December 2021 21:59 (two years ago) link
i was reading about the type of collapsed lung cj has and tbh i think “collapsed lung” makes it sound worse than it is.
― call all destroyer, Friday, 10 December 2021 22:01 (two years ago) link
yeah he'll be fine. prob a made up injury to protect him from injury in prep for this trade tbqh.
― Spottie, Friday, 10 December 2021 22:02 (two years ago) link
pdx just announced their interim gm, who hinted that roster changes will be aggressively sought. I'm thinking cj will be packing his bags as soon as an acceptable deal can be struck, whether for simmons or some other deal.
― more difficult than I look (Aimless), Friday, 10 December 2021 22:15 (two years ago) link
i don't know why the sixers would just up and do that trade now. does it even make them better?

yes
― Spottie, Friday, 10 December 2021 22:18 (two years ago) link
i mean theyre getting a good player who fills a desperate need for a guy who isnt playing
― lag∞n, Friday, 10 December 2021 22:18 (two years ago) link
but i also think theres a good chance theyll hold out... unless embiid is putting pressure on them to make a deal
― lag∞n, Friday, 10 December 2021 22:19 (two years ago) link

Woj hinted at a multi-team deal, so who knows who ends up where.
