lakers could play a lot better than they have so far and they are currently in 6th in the west, like ad will probably not be the worst shooter in the league for the whole season, but on the other had they are a prime candidate for injuries because theyre such an old team, can they miss the playoffs? what are we even talking about when we say the playoffs these days? the play in games are not part of the playoffs i guess so then you might have these one or two games that decide if you "make the playoffs", kind of weird, anyway i think theres a good chance that they end up in the play in games, unlikely they finish totally out of all playoff and playin activities without a lot of injuries which of course are possible

they are 8th in the west rn

not according to the worldwide leader, but its true that 6 through 9 are effectively tied

lag∞n, Monday, 29 November 2021 13:39 (four years ago)

theyre 9th in point differential

lag∞n, Monday, 29 November 2021 13:41 (four years ago)

ah ok NBA.com says 8, I don't know what the formula is on tiebreakers, head to head matchups?

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Monday, 29 November 2021 13:55 (four years ago)

NBA has Portland 6, Wolves 7, Lakers 8

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Monday, 29 November 2021 13:56 (four years ago)

should stop doing the play ins it’s dumb and everyone knows it and the bubble is over (kind of made sense in the bubble year?)

Clay, Monday, 29 November 2021 14:02 (four years ago)

yeah its bad theyre not going to stop now that theyve made new weird quasi playoff games

lag∞n, Monday, 29 November 2021 14:06 (four years ago)

yeah idk maybe espn has some pretend in season tiebreaker where the team with more wins gets to be first cause the lakers are 11-11 and the other teams are 10-10

lag∞n, Monday, 29 November 2021 14:07 (four years ago)

Lakers have played a lot of bad teams and it’s usually an epic struggle to beat them. They’ve been bad.

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 29 November 2021 14:52 (four years ago)

yeah I think I read somewhere that the Lakers have actually played the easiest schedule so far? idk they're just reminding me a lot of the Kobe/Pau/Dwight/Nash Laker team where everyone assumes they've got too much talent to crash and that they'll figure it out eventually but they just seem so slow and labored in everything they do. in fact they actually seem like a good candidate to get worse as the season goes on since they're all so banged up already. unless AD goes supernova idk what other teams are supposed to be afraid of.

frogbs, Monday, 29 November 2021 15:12 (four years ago)

i think the most likely outcome for them is they finish in one of the play in spots, win a game to get into the actual playoffs and then lose in the first round. even if they got the 6 seed i think they would lose — the top 3 in the west are clearly a cut above the rest of the conference and i think all 3 would beat the lakers. even in the best case scenario imo they get into the 4-5 game, beat someone like dallas, clippers, or denver, and then lose in round 2. they’ve stunk the whole year and westbrook has been a postseason anchor ever since he stopped playing with KD so i don’t see a lot of playoff upside

J0rdan S., Monday, 29 November 2021 15:22 (four years ago)

that play i mentioned earlier:

lol what the hell

lag∞n, Monday, 29 November 2021 16:12 (four years ago)

I really think the wear and tear of having to scrap to win every game is gonna show up at some point. Lebron has played a LOT of NBA basketball in his life

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 29 November 2021 16:22 (four years ago)

yeah theres a really good chance this team implodes with injury

lag∞n, Monday, 29 November 2021 16:28 (four years ago)

welp

Nuggets F Michael Porter Jr., will undergo a surgical procedure on his lower back and miss an indefinite period, his agent Mark Bartelstein of @PrioritySports tells ESPN. Bartelstein says Porter’s expected to make a full recovery; timetable on return will come after surgery.

Really wonder what it is. Seen rumors of a laminectomy

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 29 November 2021 16:31 (four years ago)

They should vaccinate him while he’s sedated

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 29 November 2021 16:38 (four years ago)

Gotta think there’s no rush to bring murray back now. Probably wouldn’t be 100% this season anyway

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 29 November 2021 16:40 (four years ago)

super sucky what a brutal run of luck

Spottie, Monday, 29 November 2021 16:45 (four years ago)

that sucks, once you start having back issues it seems like it's pretty rare they ever fully go away.

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Monday, 29 November 2021 16:53 (four years ago)

Nuggets medical staff has an avant garde opinion about that back and they made a 200 million dollar wager about it. We shall see

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 29 November 2021 16:57 (four years ago)

extremely depressing stuff

re: Matt's Grayson Allen tweet, need to point out that Pat C is currently shooting better on lower pay and with better vibes (but at only 6.3 attempts per game):

Starting in every game to this point, Allen is averaging 14.2 points while shooting 44.6 percent on his field-goal attempts and 42.2 percent on his 3-point attempts. Meanwhile, Connaughton’s time has been split between the starting five and the bench due to early injuries to the roster, but he is thriving wherever by averaging 12.1 points on 49.4 percent field goal shooting and 42.5 percent from behind the arc. Oxnard Jeweler (Sufjan Grafton), Monday, 29 November 2021 17:17 (four years ago)

xps re: porter, it definitely sucks but it's not really some unexpected stroke of bad luck, they only got him bc half the other teams did not want to take this risk.

that being said everyone loses when joker doesnt have a great team around him to work his magic

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Monday, 29 November 2021 17:20 (four years ago)

drafting him in the middle of the 1st round was a totally reasonable risk, maxing him out is looking pretty rough right now, they were kind of a tough sport as far as that goes, tho who knows what medical info they had

lag∞n, Monday, 29 November 2021 17:24 (four years ago)

yeah that was my thought exactly. you’d do the pick again 10 times out of 10. they prob got great value out of it mathematically while he was in his rookie deal if you wanna look at it that way, it’s the extension that looks really questionable now.

at some point in the last year hollinger said on his pod w nate duncan that porter had basically the worst medicals he’d ever seen evaluating a draft prospect

J0rdan S., Monday, 29 November 2021 17:28 (four years ago)

was his personal team just holding it all together with duct tape until he got paid? yikes

Spottie, Monday, 29 November 2021 17:30 (four years ago)

Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau tells reporters that Kemba Walker is out of the rotation, and Alec Burks will remain the starting point guard.

yikes, that is a fast fall from grace

When Young Sheldon began to rap (forksclovetofu), Monday, 29 November 2021 18:04 (four years ago)

it is kind of weird that the suns-warriors games are consecutive for GS but phoenix has the pistons at home as a palate cleanser in between. is that weird? i don't even know anymore with these home-and-homes

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Monday, 29 November 2021 18:08 (four years ago)

kemba's stats are awful, his net rating is worse, there really just isn't anything left.

call all destroyer, Monday, 29 November 2021 18:13 (four years ago)

nick nurse, hague

Kemba STARTED the All Star Game only two seasons ago!

And then, coming off a recent injury, Nurse played him the second most minutes in the game on the back of playing 45 in the last regular season game before it... and he got re-injured and was never the same. https://t.co/9OQieV6bhN

Yeah they are both rock solid backups

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 29 November 2021 18:21 (four years ago)

Very real chance that the only people who have to be concerned about the size of MPJ’s contract are the insurance companies the Kroenkes use

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 29 November 2021 18:22 (four years ago)

well, insurance companies don’t wipe bad contracts off the salary cap

Brooklyn Nets guard Joe Harris is expected to miss four to eight weeks with ankle surgery, agent Mark Bartelstein of @PrioritySports tells ESPN. Surgery is addressing "a little bone particle" in ankle, Steve Nash said.

has anyone heard anything from Kyrie in the past month?

When Young Sheldon began to rap (forksclovetofu), Monday, 29 November 2021 19:12 (four years ago)

just curious how the research is going

When Young Sheldon began to rap (forksclovetofu), Monday, 29 November 2021 19:22 (four years ago)

Kyrie's just laying low, feeling pleasantly righteous about being an anti-vax poster child, and enjoying his money.

Spottie, Monday, 29 November 2021 19:50 (four years ago)

he said that hes doing to stand up for the little guy whos getting pushed around by mandates but hes obvs just an antivaxer

lag∞n, Monday, 29 November 2021 19:52 (four years ago)

i can't believe he's actually going to sit out a whole season

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Monday, 29 November 2021 19:54 (four years ago)

or...if this is just his way of getting out of playing the regular season then he has a "change of heart" before the playoffs that would be hilarious

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Monday, 29 November 2021 19:57 (four years ago)

its been pretty clear for a while imo that kyrie does not want to play in the nba

lag∞n, Monday, 29 November 2021 20:01 (four years ago)

i think hes just expecting the bklyn mandate to be lifted before the playoffs start?

Spottie, Monday, 29 November 2021 20:02 (four years ago)

meanwhile wiggins should be the poster boy for the vaccine.. hes been awesome since he got it.

Spottie, Monday, 29 November 2021 20:03 (four years ago)
