idk green looks like a future scoring champ

― lag∞n, Wednesday, November 10, 2021 8:25 PM (nine minutes ago)

maybe. but there's a world where he never reaches those heights as a scorer and doesn't offer much else across the box score or on defense. since he's so young and a super fun leaper/dunker that pick isn't really being scrutinized in light of how some of the other guys are performing but if i was a rockets fan i might be looking at mobley and barnes like "hm"

J0rdan S., Thursday, 11 November 2021 01:37 (two years ago) link

i think his wingspan is still above average (for 6'6) but i'm watching the pistons/rockets now and he just looks like a normal sized guy. there were people claiming that he could be a 6'8 point guard before the draft!

call all destroyer, Thursday, 11 November 2021 01:38 (two years ago) link

i mean you never can tell how a guy will develop so much of that comes down the the famous intangibles but green is an absolute freak out there and not just because of his physical attributes which are insane hes clearly also got the scorers nose for the basket ball handling ability and so forth he looks pretty insane to me, mobely does look like a generational defender tho

crazy draft

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 November 2021 01:43 (two years ago) link

The thing about Suggs is he is absolutely the right player for the Magic and where they’re at

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 11 November 2021 02:07 (two years ago) link

could you like say more about what you mean?

call all destroyer, Thursday, 11 November 2021 02:13 (two years ago) link

They don’t need another long athletic guy who is 3 years away, their long athletic guys have completed those 3 years and it’s time to have a roster that makes sense

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 11 November 2021 02:39 (two years ago) link

i definitely did not like the obi toppin pick, but it looks like he’s gonna be a useful instant offense big off the bench, a la marrese speights, or someone.

idk if that’s what you want from #8 overall but hey

grove street (party) direction (voodoo chili), Thursday, 11 November 2021 02:44 (two years ago) link

xp ok but how is suggs contributing to that? he doesn't seem close to ready based on these first few games.

call all destroyer, Thursday, 11 November 2021 02:44 (two years ago) link

it's kind of an irrelevant point since the long rangy guys got picked before the magic were up. whether they missed on josh giddey is a more pertinent question i think

personally if I were the heat I’d be beating the lakers by a lot

occasionally i turn on a blazer game and when i see their ad patch i'm like "wtf is storm x again?" and then i remember it's crypto garbage and i'm like "oh well that's pretty bad!"

Dwight shooting FTs is just the most aesthetically unpleasing thing

frogbs, Thursday, 11 November 2021 04:08 (two years ago) link

The Celtics, Lakers, and Phoenix Suns were all on Garnett’s list. He remembers Steve Nash making a regretful phone call on behalf of Suns owner Robert Sarver, saying that Garnett would not only have to take a pay cut if he came to Phoenix, but that “they wasn't keeping all the pieces that I was asking for or requesting,” he says. “Steve Nash came to me and was very disappointed. He also apologized on behalf of Phoenix and ownership, and he was very, very, very deliberate about how much he wanted to play with me.”

Fucking Sarver

the pelicans lost at home to the thunder and are now 1-11

they keep showing lebron on the sideline arguing at length with the refs over calls as if he’s on the coaching staff lol

coach/gm/occasional player lebron james

on the bagley stuff i think the kings are hanging on to him to use as trade filler. maybe that will be useful the deadline idk. why he is still on the bench being cancerous is another question.

He’s shooting badly but he looks comfortable out there to me, be patient

Bucks made 26 3s last night which is apparently a record at MSG. funny cuz I think they actually had the worst 3pt% in the league before this

frogbs, Thursday, 11 November 2021 15:26 (two years ago) link

the knicks either have godawful 3pt defense or godawful 3pt luck. watching last night, it felt like a little of column a and a little of column b. also i think an opposing player has had a career high score in pretty much every game at msg this year

grove street (party) direction (voodoo chili), Thursday, 11 November 2021 15:40 (two years ago) link

yesterday it was “project pat” connaughton and a few days ago it was ricky rubio bursting into flame

iirc last season was the opposite. like no one shot 3s well against them

Spottie, Thursday, 11 November 2021 15:49 (two years ago) link

yeah their scheme gives up a lot of 3s and mostly teams didnt make them last year

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 November 2021 15:52 (two years ago) link

they were a real good defensive team but adding kemba and fournier to the mix prob hasnt helped

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 November 2021 15:54 (two years ago) link

and theres always the thibs cycle to consider

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 November 2021 15:58 (two years ago) link

just looked last year they were first in opponent 3pt% at 34% this year theyre 26th at 38% and theyre giving up the second most attempts where last year they were 10th

winning formula

Hannibal Lecture (PBKR), Thursday, 11 November 2021 16:07 (two years ago) link

overall defense has gone from 3rd to 26th

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 November 2021 16:08 (two years ago) link

knicks need kemba to become a semblance of his former self so hey don’t have to rely on barrett to score 20+ to compete offensively

― grove street (party) direction (voodoo chili), Thursday, November 11, 2021 11:10 AM (three minutes ago) bookmarkflaglink

i am familiar with this practice lol

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 November 2021 16:14 (two years ago) link

i suspect you cant have a starting backcourt of kemba + fournier and be a good defensive team, just too weak at the point of attack, bringing fournier off the bench makes sense except im not sure they really have the roster to make it work since rose is already playing that role its just hard to avoid a lot of minutes with two of kemba fournier rose playing

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 November 2021 16:15 (two years ago) link

think it might be time for the knicks to make a panic trade, lets get back to the old ways

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 November 2021 16:16 (two years ago) link

someone needs to take kemba to the juice bar

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 November 2021 16:24 (two years ago) link

kemba might be cooked and that sucks

Spottie, Thursday, 11 November 2021 16:29 (two years ago) link

yeah i mean he made the allstar team his first season in boston and has basically been injured since then, hes 31 years old and short with a game that relies on quickness

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 November 2021 16:41 (two years ago) link

celtics gave up a 1st to get al horf back and then the thunder immediately bought kemba out where you mightve thought theyd try to rehab him and see if anyone was interested around the trade deadline

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 November 2021 16:44 (two years ago) link

was weird when everyone decided the knicks getting kemba was some kind of coup as opposed to "maybe possibly we can get something from this guy"

call all destroyer, Thursday, 11 November 2021 16:46 (two years ago) link

another assumption was that the knicks could afford to trade some defense for offense when in fact these changes may have broken their scheme to a much greater degree

call all destroyer, Thursday, 11 November 2021 16:47 (two years ago) link

taking an $8m flier on kemba is not a terrible risk but it was pretty clear based on the celtics and thunders actions that hes cooked, and yeah the roster construction is not looking totally great overall

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 November 2021 16:49 (two years ago) link

nerlens noel has been out for a while & they basically only have one center, prob not helping things on the defensive end

J0rdan S., Thursday, 11 November 2021 16:56 (two years ago) link

they’re 7-5 rn which is good for 6/7th in the east. last year they played way over their heads and this year are likely gonna have trouble being in the top 6 and instead will be in the morass of teams fighting for the play in spots, not a very surprising turn of events at the end of the day

J0rdan S., Thursday, 11 November 2021 16:59 (two years ago) link

yep

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 November 2021 17:00 (two years ago) link

feels like "monster game from Anthony Edwards in a Wolves loss" is going to be a theme this year

Anthony Edwards was brilliant as a shot-creator vs. the Golden State Warriors.

Ant’s ability to self-create shots at the rim and from 3, combined with his playmaking ability for others, makes for a dominant offensive centerpiece. pic.twitter.com/aaur79kQj4
