Yeah I totally see them hitting top form in the new year

Heez, Wednesday, 10 November 2021 19:57 (four years ago)

One thing I’ve noticed is that teams are focusing def on not giving trae lobs

Heez, Wednesday, 10 November 2021 19:59 (four years ago)

The Hawks are stacked with talent so I think it’s fair to be concerned about what is going on there

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 10 November 2021 20:05 (four years ago)

one game its cam going off, next game its hunter, next game its huerter, then its bogdo. they need to figure out their pecking order and roles. overabundance of talent is a good problem to have tho.

Spottie, Wednesday, 10 November 2021 20:07 (four years ago)

they're 27th in defensive rating right now. not much else matters until that gets back to averageish.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 10 November 2021 20:11 (four years ago)

yeah the defense has been glaringly bad

Heez, Wednesday, 10 November 2021 20:12 (four years ago)

team defense that is

Heez, Wednesday, 10 November 2021 20:13 (four years ago)

losing 5 straight but the 5 are nets, jazz, suns, warriors, jazz w/ 4 of those on the road isn't necessarily a huge cause for alarm, tho several of those have been borderline non competitive based on the final scores and that phx game they blew a big lead which hurts. they have nuggets on the road and then bucks next two so it might get worse but their schedule is much easier in december so it feels like a wait and see where they're at come the new year for me

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 10 November 2021 20:18 (four years ago)

also contra the prevailing narrative it's possible nate mcmillon wasn't sprinkling any magic on that team and was simply just not the previous coach that they hated and now that aspect of their situation is crashing back to earth

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 10 November 2021 20:21 (four years ago)

the one thing i read when they were on their run last year was players saying pierce didn't really have them run plays and the one thing mcmillan did was actually like, have plays that would organize the offense. so that seems tangible to me. i do think they have some rotation stuff to figure out and not sure i trust him to do a great job with that, but if they can clean up the defense (which is very much related to getting capela to a better place) they should still be a strong team.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 10 November 2021 20:36 (four years ago)

feel like the hawks have a lot of guys but they all have pretty big question marks and the new physicality could be worse for trae than any other player

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 November 2021 20:58 (four years ago)

hopefully well settle into some happy medium as far as the refs not calling fouls

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 November 2021 20:59 (four years ago)

Outside of a few outliers that have been posted here, I'm pretty much fine with how they are calling things this year.

But I tend to think, like the NFL, the NBA has gone too far in tipping the scales to offense, even though I know I'm in the minority. Where it is so far this year seems like a happy medium.

Hannibal Lecture (PBKR), Wednesday, 10 November 2021 21:25 (four years ago)

i loved the freedom of movement hand checking fouls that were introduced in ~06 and to my eye those are still in tact this season. feel like the focus is on weird non-normal basketball moves to get calls and thats no issue with me.

Spottie, Wednesday, 10 November 2021 21:43 (four years ago)

new kg profile dropped

The most mind-blowing detail in this @MichaelVPina profile of Kevin Garnett is that his favorite movie is Seredipity????? (Second best anecdote being that he once head-butted a hole in the wall while watching Making The Band.) KG is the greatest. https://t.co/KORAeNi9TN pic.twitter.com/JKOLWmdhrU

at the moment all missed calls are being attributed to the new reffing meta but... the refs miss calls every year for no reason at all

micah, Wednesday, 10 November 2021 23:04 (four years ago)

ive seen a few games already that were just so physical, obvs i support eliminating foul begging to the extent its possible

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 November 2021 23:12 (four years ago)

some wild deviations in how rookies are starting the season, dont think it means too much, not long ago guys his age just werent getting xp

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 November 2021 00:54 (four years ago)

minutes

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 November 2021 00:55 (four years ago)

if a rookie is genuinely doing eye popping things like mobley or green thats cool and meaningful, but if a rookie is bad especially at the beginning of the season i dont think it means too much

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 November 2021 00:57 (four years ago)

i do now think that taking scottie barnes ahead of suggs was the right move tho lol

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 November 2021 00:59 (four years ago)

agree 100% but those numbers are bad lol. not too far off what ant edwards was doing last season really. turned it around at the half season mark.

Spottie, Thursday, 11 November 2021 00:59 (four years ago)

at least hes getting that 85 lol

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 November 2021 01:01 (four years ago)

Spottie, Thursday, 11 November 2021 01:01 (four years ago)

Spottie, Thursday, 11 November 2021 01:02 (four years ago)

its because theyre the kings

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 November 2021 01:02 (four years ago)

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 November 2021 01:05 (four years ago)

not that i am a "draft guy" in any way shape or form but i guess i thought suggs was more of a point guard than he is? mike schmitz recently said that before gonzaga they thought of him as a high-end josh hart which is not something i recall hearing last spring lol

call all destroyer, Thursday, 11 November 2021 01:09 (four years ago)

darius garland was basically as bad as you could humanly be his rookie season and now ppl seem to think he will be quite good. then again some rookies start bad and never become good

J0rdan S., Thursday, 11 November 2021 01:11 (four years ago)

feel pretty confident that the phrase high end josh hart did not appear in any mock drafts

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 November 2021 01:12 (four years ago)

Anonuby is a thicc

Spottie, Thursday, 11 November 2021 01:13 (four years ago)

boy

Spottie, Thursday, 11 November 2021 01:13 (four years ago)

the raptors are so close to realizing the dream of a team of all 6-8 guys just need to get fvv out of there

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 November 2021 01:14 (four years ago)

offense has looked problematic for suggs this year even behind his shooting splits. the game has looked too fast for him, it’s just been really sloppy. that said, i don’t see how he doesn’t become a great defender, he’ll be an above average rebounder and i think he’ll be able to pass. i’m optimistic on his set three point shooting giving his FT shooting

schmitz compared him to jrue holiday which i thought was pretty interesting in light of jrue putting up some really horrific shooting performances in the playoffs but still being a really crucial piece of a championship team. suggs might need to be the third best player on a great team instead of the second best one but the thing i liked about him going into the draft is that i thought his floor was super high. at absolute worst he’s like an avery bradley with better athleticism, i just don’t see how he busts

J0rdan S., Thursday, 11 November 2021 01:15 (four years ago)

i like suggs i think hell be real good maybe not as good as any of the guys taken in front of him tho

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 November 2021 01:20 (four years ago)

the guy taken directly after him is looking pretty good too lol

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 November 2021 01:20 (four years ago)

i still think there’s a chance suggs is better than jalen green

J0rdan S., Thursday, 11 November 2021 01:23 (four years ago)

idk green looks like a future scoring champ

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 November 2021 01:25 (four years ago)

speaking of rooks cade actually being 6'6 seems materially important given that everyone spent a year believing he was 6'8

call all destroyer, Thursday, 11 November 2021 01:29 (four years ago)

what is that true

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 November 2021 01:30 (four years ago)
