luka’s not playing great, porzingis just played his first game, deferring judgment for now

last few years they were pretty easy to understand, elite offensive team led by prodigal scorer/passer with shooter type role players around him and shaky on defense. this year their statistical profile is kind of all over the place, their games have been weird, their record appears good but is flimsy, all of their guys have underperformed except brunson. idk.

tbh whenever i saw him he looked pretty disengaged, not really affecting the game in any way, just sort of orbiting around the action. i saw someone tweet before the season something like “watch out for the mo bamba contract year” i think his effort/engagement level has always been the knock on him going back to college

this is also his first full season not playing behind vucevic iirc

hes had a lot of injuries too so its hard to say what he could do with sustained health

one thing is he has an all-NBA name
