yeah idk feels like they're playing tough defense but can't catch a break. tons of weird rebounds directly to opponent etc

i guess part of it is just that horf is not a good rebounding center which we knew from his last stint

theyve seemed pretty out of sorts so far

the defense still seems good like 110 points in 2ot is low

yeah feel like they should be able to figure it out

feel like one of udoka's key focus points thus far in his tenure has been to try to convince both the team and the public that "scrappy underdog that stands in the face of adversity" isn't going to cut it anymore. not really working yet.

yeah he's the dream developmental story for nba wings

yeah couldnt have really gone any better, guess the remaining holes in his game are playmaking and off ball defense, which i guess both have to do with reading the greater game

not really clear on "what theyre trying to do" scheme wise but so far at least its not clicking

it's looked very bad at times, they need a real point guard

i guess the hope was that marcus would rise to the occasion and he has responded by, in my estimation, sucking ass

lol marcus is a good passer/pick and roll guy but he just doesnt have the driving ability to be the primary ball handler

definitely, and i don't even think he needs to be the every-down back so to speak. but he's just doing.....nothing.

he has been bad, and he could easily just start playing better along with a bunch of their other players

does seem like tatum is getting brain fog on the catch trying to be more of a playmaker, they should just let him cook imo

Boston has a tricky problem to solve where Tatum isn't looking to pass in iso, but also they aren't running backside actions to give him a kick out option. Makes it even easier for the defense to load the paint on him. Guess this wasn't solved at the player's only meeting.

no and it doesn't quell any concerns that they aren't really running an offense right now

this is not a good looking team at the moment and watching them beat up on orlando didn't make them look any better

in simmons most recent pod he said one of the trades he wanted to see over the offseason was some formulation that netted the celtics lonzo for marcus smart, haven’t looked into how you’d make that work asset wise but seems like a pretty good fit

eh idk feels pretty sideways, anyway they cant trade marcus this season cause they extended him so late

i have heard that marcus does not have much of a market out there, and that was before the extension

lonzo shoots high 30s from 3 on volume and is a better playmaker than marcus, also a sick defender, might even have the celtics mindtype

also 3 years younger

lonzo is actually pretty bad playmaker fwiw, his numbers in pick and roll are way worse than smarts

ultimately theyre both not great offensive players tho lonzo is prob better due to shooting and transition play, idk hes a useful player but has huge holes in his game dont love him

and hes not really a solution if youre wanting a point guard

there really arent many all around solid point guards huh

for weeks now brad has been like 'this team is trash so we gotta, um ,hustle, and that's how we're going to win GO GET EM CELTICS' and first of all i'd be a little insulted if i'm one of the starters? and second of all they seem better than they were last year depth wise? i don't know it just seems like the talent is there but there's no gameplan

yeah hopefully its just some flukiness and adjusting to a new coach and scheme and not the much worse possibility of the coach and scheme being bad

tho udoka is a 1st time head coach so hes prob going to have some growing pains regardless
