The mid-90s Mavericks had Kidd/Jim Jackson/Jamal Mashburn playing at a high level and still felt (and were) rather hopeless. It's the front office incompetence at drafting and building around him that makes the team a bummer. Cuban inherited Dirk, lucked into Luka and other than that the best draft pick in two decades was... Josh Howard.
