how sick would it be if he waits to get vaxxed until right before the playoffs. genius move

honestly kyrie sitting out half the regular season is prob a good idea from a durability standpoint, maybe hes just doing his own load management
― lag∞n, Sunday, 10 October 2021 22:03 (four years ago)
i've landed somewhere around there while acknowledging that kyrie thinks his very bad brain is actually incredible
― Clay, Sunday, 10 October 2021 22:25 (four years ago)
if he takes this as far as missing half (or more? what if the nets draw the knicks or any cali team in the finals lol) he should probably go in the hall of fame immediately
― Clay, Sunday, 10 October 2021 22:27 (four years ago)
the longer he goes the bigger the shit storm the harder it will be to get vaccinated, because he is very proud and stubborn
― lag∞n, Sunday, 10 October 2021 22:34 (four years ago)
i keep seeing stuff about how the bulls are killing it in the preseason and so i looked and their opponents were the cavs and the pelicans with a starting line up of devante graham, nickeil alexander walker, garret temple, naji marshall (?) and valanciunas. k meanwhile they’re losing tonight playing their whole team to the cavs who didn’t start sexton or garland.
― J0rdan S., Monday, 11 October 2021 01:10 (four years ago)
Yes but he also has enough of a contrarian streak/addiction to confounding others that once the media have formed their narratives around how things are playing out for him, the team, the league with unvaxxed Kyrie, that will be his out to finally get it

i saw something somewhere suggesting that based on past preseasons, their offensive performance so far is enough to give their offensive projection an actual bump of a point or two per 100. which is interesting but ultimately i'd have to say the sample size is small enough that it should just be tossed in the trash.
― call all destroyer, Monday, 11 October 2021 01:34 (four years ago)
i "like" the bulls moves this summer but as like a respectable 8th seed
― class project pat (m bison), Monday, 11 October 2021 01:38 (four years ago)
i dont think their preseason performance is too meaningful escpailly considered as jordan said the teams they played didnt have their guys, but their lineup does have a bunch of guys and if theyre going to run so they can do as many different pick and rolls as possible i love it
― lag∞n, Monday, 11 October 2021 01:38 (four years ago)
yeah and i don't think anyone who was critical of their offseason was saying they wouldn't have a good offense, it was more that they are at risk to have a very bad defense and have mortgaged a measurable amount of their future for a team that won't threaten to contend.
― call all destroyer, Monday, 11 October 2021 01:41 (four years ago)
i havent really followed what exactly their offseason moves were, the vooch trade was def awful, but now that were here i support their vision

i was kind of following the thread until they traded thad young and a 2025 first for derozan. between vuc and deorzan they're out 1st round picks in 21, 23, and 25.

petition for dirk to come back and play 12 minutes off the bench and pop some deep balls, just have some fun out there

imo theres a very good chance thats true, hes still a good player if he reverts tho
― lag∞n, Monday, 11 October 2021 02:59 (four years ago)
it’s true — i mean, they will be *better*. it’s almost impossible for them not to be and if they aren’t their GM will be a season away from getting fired. but the justification for their moves is tied to the idea that lavine is as good or better, and idk. i just need to see it in a real season, i don’t trust a lot of the shooting numbers from last year. julius randle at the top of the list for me. the only thing i’ll say for the bulls is a lot of ppl (me included) were making basically the same exact argument against the hawks last year — yeah they got better but how much better really? and then they were much better, at least after they fired their coach. nonetheless the bulls still look like a play in team to me
― J0rdan S., Monday, 11 October 2021 03:13 (four years ago)
the hawks are backed by the real growth of young players and signing known contributors

Sixers officials and Klutch CEO Rich Paul have progressed in talks over recent days on a resolution to bring All-Star Ben Simmons back to Philadelphia in the near future, sources tell ESPN. Discussions are ongoing.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) October 11, 2021
― lag∞n, Monday, 11 October 2021 14:51 (four years ago)
The organization's hopes are unchanged: Get Simmons back into Philadelphia, onto the court and ultimately convince him that it's still the place for the long-term.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) October 11, 2021

― call all destroyer, Tuesday, 12 October 2021 02:35 (four years ago)
the best plan for everyone involved is prob for him to play and be good at basketball
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 12 October 2021 02:41 (four years ago)
i mean i guess he could take the jimmy butler route and just be a total pain in the ass until they trade him
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 12 October 2021 02:43 (four years ago)
lol everyone is telling him to do that but he hates conflict and won't
― call all destroyer, Tuesday, 12 October 2021 02:46 (four years ago)
Every time the ball touches his hands, he should shoot. Even if it's inbound from under the opponent's basket.

Sources: Sixers were unaware Simmons was flying into Philadelphia today. The organization was in constant contact with agent Rich Paul, but Simmons simply showed up at arena to take his Covid test prior to Sixers-Nets tip -- and that's when team officials knew he was in town. https://t.co/j3cGnC6mgG— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) October 12, 2021

Simmons is generating so much messy drama that Kyrie must be beside himself with jealousy.
― more difficult than I look (Aimless), Tuesday, 12 October 2021 03:22 (four years ago)
i think morey might have been on the right track here. like, simmons value wasnt going to decline much as he held out longer - so why not just sit tight and wait for the right offer?
― micah, Tuesday, 12 October 2021 04:49 (four years ago)
it also sounds like simmons has cut out rich paul to an extent. or rich paul wants to appear to be more critical to "negotiations" than he actually is.
― micah, Tuesday, 12 October 2021 06:29 (four years ago)
i’m not sure simmons’ value changes much in either direction at this point. i feel like in general we know the strengths and weaknesses of simmons game pretty well, highly doubt he is going to unleash a new jumper on opening night. it is really all about whether a team decides it wants to pay whatever price morey is asking before the pressure gets too much in philly and daryl blinks first. i doubt daryl is planning on blinking first so he’s rolling the dice on the team being good, doc keeping the locker room in check etc and other teams feeling like he is willing to ride the situation out until they come to his level. this also all assumes simmons plays and isn’t showing up as a technicality just to get paid
