i think the thing these playoffs showed about gobert is that you can’t really separate his offense from his defense. one of the main issues the jazz had vs the clippers is that gobert was such a non threat on offense that the clippers felt like they didn’t need to put anyone taller than 6’ 8” on the floor. even in terms of offensive rebounding they didn’t care. ayton can move his feet on defense & all that which is obv important but he also needed to be accounted for on the other end of the floor, and it’s not like he shoots the ball or anything. but he could get his own bucket from within 2-3 feet, make FTs and hurt you enough on the offensive glass. the suns and jazz both got into shootouts with the clippers where their center’s defense didn’t really matter all that much, but the suns had an offensive weapon at that position where the jazz were basically playing 4 on 5 on both ends
