On the phone, Horford laid out his recruiting pitch. He told Schröder his hard-nosed style would fit well in the Celtics organization and in the city of Boston. Horford emphasized that after needing to suppress his game in Los Angeles for a season, Schröder would be able to showcase his talents on the Celtics. As much as anything, Horford stressed to Schröder how badly the Celtics needed him.

“You’re going to have a big year here,” Horford said, according to Schröder, “because we know your value and we know how to put you in place to be successful.’”

“One big reason I chose the Boston Celtics was because of him,” Schröder said during a phone call Thursday evening.

Schröder has only gone through three days of practice with Boston, but likes the vibe he has gotten from the team so far. Once the season starts, he wants the Celtics to play an up-tempo style. Especially when he’s on the court with Tatum and Brown, he wants to push the pace.

“If I’m playing with them, we’ve gotta make it as fast as possible,” Schröder said. “We’ve gotta get down the floor, pushing the pace. I think that’s what fits me as well. I think Jaylen Brown was number one in fast-break points in the league. So I think helping him more get to his spots, get open. And Jayson Tatum, put him in the spots that he can be effective — and more effective. I think that will be great.”

I would be very skeptical of Horford being able to play the 4.

yeah i dont think they will start horford and rob both

i think they might, defense at the 4 will def be an issue but having horfs shooting and playmaking in that lineup makes a lot of sense, also allows fire & ice to shift down a position to where they have size advantages, tho even if they do that theyll prob still finish games w a small lineup

i think they'll likely mix it up with speed units and height; rob/horf would be good pace-breaking for a team about to get on a roll

nesmith looks like hes adjusting to the speed of the nba after playing on heels last year, pritchard romeo and grant all looking more comfortable out there in the preseason fwiw

pritchard obvs had a great rookie year but now hes just bombing 30 footers without hesitation and has been aggressive making plays too, dont want to read too much into the preseason but the celtics bench could be actually good this year, should at the very least be better than last seasons dumpster fire

pritchard looks great in every clip i've seen. reports from summer league saying he was in that clear tier of players who didn't need to be there were very exciting.
