his #s this season were pretty consistent with the last few years. But he's 35, could fall off the cliff like literally any day

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Wednesday, 23 June 2021 14:26 (five years ago)

i mean theres

lag∞n, Wednesday, 23 June 2021 14:33 (five years ago)

prob someone who would give him 2/20 but does he want to play for the knicks

lag∞n, Wednesday, 23 June 2021 14:35 (five years ago)

its just the good teams are usually capped out and dont want to invest that much in a 35y/o short point guard anyway, i guess its just a matter of how much he cares about being on a good team, tho there is always the sign and trade but that has weird cap implications too, maybe the lakers would send over talen horton tucker and some matching salary

lag∞n, Wednesday, 23 June 2021 14:38 (five years ago)

kyle would be far and away the best player in recent memory to get the midlevel which says to me he'll figure out a way to get more. the raptors also would probably be open to helping him out with a sign and trade somewhere.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 23 June 2021 14:43 (five years ago)

hasn’t he implied that he wants like $30m per year

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 23 June 2021 14:45 (five years ago)

he sure has!

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 23 June 2021 14:45 (five years ago)

god bless him

lag∞n, Wednesday, 23 June 2021 14:46 (five years ago)

the teams he kind of makes sense for who are desperate enough to do a s&t overpay are lakers clippers philly, so yeah maybe he will get paid lol, have not looked at if they have the pieces to get a trade done

lag∞n, Wednesday, 23 June 2021 14:51 (five years ago)

he's been linked heavily to the heat who could have a lot of cap space

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 23 June 2021 14:53 (five years ago)

feel like the heat are smarter than that but idk, he does have the heat mindset

lag∞n, Wednesday, 23 June 2021 14:55 (five years ago)

i guess 2/20 wouldnt be terrible for them

lag∞n, Wednesday, 23 June 2021 14:57 (five years ago)

it all sounds a bit crazy to me

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 23 June 2021 15:00 (five years ago)

Kyle Lowry shot 44/40/88 last year. He’s getting more than the midlevel imo

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 23 June 2021 15:39 (five years ago)

yah and chris paul has really helped his value

pure rim rest (Spottie), Wednesday, 23 June 2021 15:41 (five years ago)

mostly likely he gets 3/60-70 with a team option on year three

pure rim rest (Spottie), Wednesday, 23 June 2021 15:42 (five years ago)

I think a lowry for Simmons sign and trade makes a lot of sense but the sixers will ask for the Raptors pick this year and they’ll say no

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 23 June 2021 15:43 (five years ago)

the raptors are in a an interesting spot. the way the east is shaping up i don't think you could say they're anything better than the fifth best team next year. maybe they could win a first round playoff series if there were injuries somewhere and the seeding happened to fall their way but it's pretty hard to imagine them getting back to the east finals in the next few years. they have siakam and van vleet at ages 27-28 but the rest of their roster is pretty young between OG, boucher, trent if they re-sign him, and then a top 5 pick. also their GM is not under contract haha. i feel like it would make more sense for them to see what siakam or van vleet could get on the market -- they seem to have issues w/ siakam anyway -- but i feel like they prob won't go that route.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 23 June 2021 16:08 (five years ago)

the bucks and nets feel like a pretty intractable top 2 in the east, perhaps the sixers get back up there, but it feels like we're in for a 2-3 year cycle where piercing that tier is going to be very difficult, this year notwithstanding. maybe the nets are never able to get all their guys healthy at once and the sixers flounder and there continues to be an opening like the hawks got this year. but it seems to me like there will be a real path to contention for a bunch of other teams in 2-3 seasons, even the bucks will be pretty old by that point giannis aside. i wonder which teams try for a sort of mini rebuild to position themselves to take advantage of that, feel like the raptors would be a prime candidate

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 23 June 2021 16:15 (five years ago)

they could get a lot of assets for a rebuild but I don't think that's what their post-title fanbase wants at all. Raps fans would be happy with a team that's competitive in the playoffs even if they're not a true title contender, at least that's my sense.

The Boston Celtics are finalizing an agreement to hire Brooklyn Nets assistant Ime Udoka as the franchise's new coach, sources tell ESPN.

raptors winning a playoff series every couple years or so would put them head and shoulders above another toronto professional sports team...

symsymsym, Wednesday, 23 June 2021 18:58 (five years ago)

toronto adding #4 pick to their team and seeing what happens seems like the way to go

lag∞n, Wednesday, 23 June 2021 19:01 (five years ago)

the celtics are underrated now imo if they were back in the east finals in a few seasons i wouldn’t be surprised at all

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 23 June 2021 19:25 (five years ago)

yeah theyve still got some issues re filling out their roster but if they can stay at all healthy they should be in the mix (of teams hoping the nets get injured) next year

lag∞n, Wednesday, 23 June 2021 19:26 (five years ago)

tatum played like an mvp candidate the final ~2 months of the season

lag∞n, Wednesday, 23 June 2021 19:28 (five years ago)

would be interested to see what happens if they play a more motion-y offense

lag∞n, Wednesday, 23 June 2021 19:30 (five years ago)

c's should target rudy gay in FA

class project pat (m bison), Wednesday, 23 June 2021 19:44 (five years ago)

lol

lag∞n, Wednesday, 23 June 2021 19:53 (five years ago)

excited about ime, that is the right type of hire for this team.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 23 June 2021 19:58 (five years ago)

Cunningham seems like an easy pick for Detroit

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 23 June 2021 21:38 (five years ago)

They’re a crazy franchise rn tho

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 23 June 2021 21:39 (five years ago)

could def see them do a galaxy brain type move and think they are the celtics trading down to get tatum or something idk

class project pat (m bison), Wednesday, 23 June 2021 21:45 (five years ago)

agree it seems like a no brainer pick tho personally i’d still have suggs number 1

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 23 June 2021 22:05 (five years ago)

make ur case, thats a1 steak sauce bold

class project pat (m bison), Wednesday, 23 June 2021 22:07 (five years ago)

Suggs looks like the next Brandon Roy.

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 23 June 2021 22:25 (five years ago)

I love this draft, have no idea what Hollinger is talking about. There’s guys in the second round of ESPN’s mock that I would have been happy with in the late lotto last year.

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 23 June 2021 22:26 (five years ago)

i just don't see how suggs fails, i think he has the floor of an above average starting guard and the ceiling of a 5x+ all star. obv everyone wants wings so i get why cade is ranked higher but i also think this playoffs has proven the importance of guard play, if you have a guard who can score, handle the ball, actively make plays on defense, it's a really valuable player. i think he's going to be a klay, devin booker, bradley beal level player, probably not as utterly dominant as a scorer and w/ more of his value spread across the box score but in terms of overall value i think he's a perennial all star and a super high level no 2, championship caliber player.

w/ cade he has the size and potential scoring ability to be a true franchise center piece lead no 1 player so i understand why he'd go no 1, i also think if he isn't a dominant scorer that he contributes less in terms of his all around game so his ceiling is lower, tho the way he shoots at his size i can't imagine him being bad.

mobley is really cool, i just worry about how skinny he is and i think he's further away from being able to dominate pros physically. i think he's in the ayton bucket to me where he could really pop w/ some great talent around him, it's just tough sledding in the league for bigs right now. jokic and embiid are sui generis players, mobley is kind of too i just think he's behind those guys physically, they're really beasts. i think he's maybe more of a bam tier player which obv still borderline NBA but a tick down. great choice for a no 3 pick tho.

i haven't seen much of the G league guys but just reading descriptions of them they seem a bit more raw and boom or bust so i'd have them below these guys. scottie barnes seems a sure bet to be a longtime NBA player but like there's a solid 3 and D but never an all star kind of path for him if the offense doesn't come around

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 23 June 2021 23:51 (five years ago)

i meant to say that cade's floor is lower bcuz how much of his value is tied up in the scoring, not his ceiling

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 23 June 2021 23:51 (five years ago)

I would take Lowry for Simmons in a S&T on a non-max deal in 1.5 seconds.

Try to get him for much lower than max so you can fill out some other positions (SF, bench), but Embiid's window isn't going to be too long.

Vin Jawn (PBKR), Wednesday, 23 June 2021 23:52 (five years ago)

cade is prob not the natural scorer that suggs is but we have seen a bunch of guys like him progressively work their way to being great scorers your kawhi tatum paul georges and so forth, also suggs is not really the shooter that you would like him to be at least at this point

lag∞n, Wednesday, 23 June 2021 23:57 (five years ago)

yeah i think paul george is a good comparison for cade, i'm not sure if he ever gets into the best player in the NBA conversation but the path for him to be in that next tier w/ some first team all NBAs and top 5 MVP finishes is pretty clear

J0rdan S., Thursday, 24 June 2021 00:02 (five years ago)

i do think people can get a little too carried away with the positional stuff, my feeling is you want bucket getters first and foremost, guys who can score against playoff defenses, now it might be nice to have a super switchable big wing but its not like you just have your choice of many guys who can really score the ball

lag∞n, Thursday, 24 June 2021 00:09 (five years ago)

carlisle to pacers 4/29

pure rim rest (Spottie), Thursday, 24 June 2021 15:17 (five years ago)

he should be good for that team, figure out the fit

lag∞n, Thursday, 24 June 2021 15:30 (five years ago)

that is great for the pacers

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Thursday, 24 June 2021 15:51 (five years ago)

yeah i think paul george is a good comparison for cade, i'm not sure if he ever gets into the best player in the NBA conversation but the path for him to be in that next tier w/ some first team all NBAs and top 5 MVP finishes is pretty clear

If Paul George could pass like Cade he’d have an MVP by now probably

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 24 June 2021 15:53 (five years ago)

Mobley I have questions about. To me the best thin about this draft is the depth
