but part of it as we've been saying is the position he gets put in by his coach. maybe don't have him bring the ball up if the defense is going to sag 10 feet off of him and invite that shot.

they were isoing him on blake and clearing out half the court and giannis was getting like a runway on blake, like this miniature one man fast break. i thought it made sense big problem was that giannis couldn’t consistently score on blake so idk

i wonder if that is related to giannis having so much more relative explosion vs. moves. like he's devastating in transition but no one would look at his drives and say they're particularly crafty. blake has great hands and is smart so it's possible he can do just enough against giannis since he knows exactly what is coming.

There was a period of time a couple years ago where he was making 3s in big spots and I remember a lot of NBA writers saying that was the missing piece that was gonna make him the best player in the league. I’m guessing he may have read some of these articles

yeah he’s more raw athleticism and brute strength, he doesn’t really get to a spot or have moves. his one move is to spin into the lane but teams have been ripping the ball from him in these playoffs bcuz it’s so predictable

yah blake doesnt have to move laterally much at all to cover giannis. they need to run WAY more through Jrue

shooting fts around 78% would be a bigger add for giannis than being a nominal threat from 3

this started innocently and was based on his unexpected success as a lead ballhandler; everyone then made a kind of bad assumption that if he could dribble and pass he could learn to shoot. it's certainly gotten in his head for a variety of understandable reasons but his next coach needs to be someone who can convince him to make another major change to the way he plays.

i think it's simpler than this, they lack composure when it gets hard because their coach has a lengthy record of not meeting the moment

yah their is no gameplan at all when things get tight. clear out for giannis is not the move. clear out for khris is a little better but still not what they should be doing every possession with 3 minutes left in the game.

The Jazz didn’t have to do much to get Clarkson, Ingles and Bogdanovic and it’s worked out as spectacularly as you could imagine. I just believe in the whole thing now. Clarkson in particular I was just totally wrong about.
