definitely rooting for the nuggets but I don’t hate seeing chris thrive

the suns 6 best on paper is pretty much exactly how you’d draw up a playoff roster. i think everyone figured their youth would show up but man are they playing confident, booker is a killer. long way to the finals tho they’ll experience some adversity at some point if they win this series

yeah either jazz or clippers would be a tough matchup for them. but love to see the suns balling out like this

the thing about the clippers is they have no home court advantage so that one might not present the normal level of adversity for a young team except for the clippers just being good (assuming they win)

suns played really well tonight, hit all their shots, and jokic had an off game. suns are definitely a solid favorite going forward but the nuggets are going to play better but they’ve got to defend the pick and roll better, paul was just carving them up

monte was uncharacteristically bad too, off night all around

I think Jokic can score on Ayton pretty easily, but the Suns could be good at getting into his passing lanes. Jokic might have a 50 point game this series...

it's just hard to win a playoff series vs a really good team when you're relying so heavily on austin rivers, facundo campazzo, monte morris, etc. no shade at the nuggets it wasn't supposed to be this way but eventually the clock is going to strike midnight. but when you have a guy who can singlehandedly win games by himself you can at least make the series interesting

yeah they almost lost the blazers series bcz of a lack of guard depth.

what i thought would happen is giannis shredding brooklyns D and the bucks D getting just enough stops to keep the nets from going totally nuclear, but it might just be that giannis game is too flawed for the offs, i know not an original idea we have been speculating about this, and maybe its compounded by coaching thats not doing the most to cover for those flaws

No disrespect to Jayson Tatum, because he’s awesome, but if he can drive on Blake Griffin, Giannis should be able to drive on Blake Griffin too.

i have been a proponent of using giannis more like a traditional big ie post him up and roll him, you mix that in and maybe it keeps the defense off balance enough or provokes lineup/scheme changes to the point that they cant just load up on his drives

yeah i think it might be that simple. play him as a center on offense.

bron was completely exposed as a basketball player by the mavs at age 27 & had to add to his game in a very real way in order to win his first title the next year. giannis is 26 it’s possible the path looks similar for him, bron is more skilled obv certainly as a shooter but in a lot of ways there is a similarity to what is happening here, raw athleticism domination in the regular season being cut off in the playoffs as the opponent dares you to shoot at all costs. bron went into the post and even the mere threat of him being able to score consistently from there opened up the floor to his genius passing, shredding the defense, finding open shooters etc. giannis doesn’t have that to his game so it’s not a 1:1 comparison but it may be this playoffs that finally convinces him he needs to figure out how to punish teams with his back to the basket in order to open things up. if you had to double giannis in the post and he could make even a simple pass that leads to another pass to an open three… it seems like a more logical development to me than him becoming a shooter, that seems far fetched. but he should still be able to develop as a player especially after playoff games where his weaknesses are so thoroughly picked over

he's been on bill simmons podcast like 4 times

the announcers pointed out something about his post game, he seems to actively avoid it once he starts missing FTs. I've noticed that myself, he'll attack, go 1 for 2 at the line a few times, then stop driving. I am guessing by this point whatever is causing his free throw issues isn't going to be solved and if that wrecks his confidence it's gonna be a big hole in his game.
