and there shouldn’t be, honestly. if there is that’s a massive issue for the bucks that runs much deeper than just finding another coach

I didn’t think it was going to be a huge talent mismatch either but getting blown out by 40 with harden not playing is not a great prognostic sign!

i don't think there is a major talent deficit on paper but a couple things need to be true for the bucks to win in this series

- giannis needs to be close to unguardable on offense
- jrue needs to outplay kyrie
- the bucks need to be better on athleticism, effort, and pace

and none of those things look like they're anywhere near coming true

this shouldn't be a massive lopsided talent situation with harden sitting and yet

being down by 49 in the playoffs is pretty bad stuff

if jrue offers no resistance to kyrie in this series that’s a huge issue for the bucks given that they poured essentially every asset they had into him as the final piece of the puzzle

it's not really ideal to have an all-time great player in his prime and then have 3 consecutive playoffs of "I don't understand how they're playing so bad"

yeah so far kyrie has been like a 4/5 and jrue has been a 2 or 2.5/5 and that isn't going to do it

I disagree there isn't a talent mismatch. Kevin Durant is the most talented scorer in the history of the sport and a top 15 most decorated player all-time bare minimum. Kyrie has as deep an offensive package as a 3 level scorer as anyone who's ever played. OTOH Giannis is... an outlier physical specimen who's levied his gifts into the .000000001% best possible of all his projected career outcomes of multiple regular season MVP awards, Jrue is a 1x all-star, and Middleton is and always has been nothing more than a nice complementary player, not anywhere close to a true superstar. There is a massive talent gap between the Bucks best player and the Nets best player, the Bucks 2nd best player and the Nets 2nd best player, and so on. And that's almost always what it comes down to at the end of the day come playoff time; who has the most true all-star/superstar firepower on the court. Even without Harden that's Brooklyn.

definitely rooting for the nuggets but I don’t hate seeing chris thrive

it's definitely fun when all your shots go through the ring

the suns 6 best on paper is pretty much exactly how you’d draw up a playoff roster. i think everyone figured their youth would show up but man are they playing confident, booker is a killer. long way to the finals tho they’ll experience some adversity at some point if they win this series

yeah either jazz or clippers would be a tough matchup for them. but love to see the suns balling out like this

the thing about the clippers is they have no home court advantage so that one might not present the normal level of adversity for a young team except for the clippers just being good (assuming they win)

suns played really well tonight, hit all their shots, and jokic had an off game. suns are definitely a solid favorite going forward but the nuggets are going to play better but they’ve got to defend the pick and roll better, paul was just carving them up

monte was uncharacteristically bad too, off night all around

I think Jokic can score on Ayton pretty easily, but the Suns could be good at getting into his passing lanes. Jokic might have a 50 point game this series...

it's just hard to win a playoff series vs a really good team when you're relying so heavily on austin rivers, facundo campazzo, monte morris, etc. no shade at the nuggets it wasn't supposed to be this way but eventually the clock is going to strike midnight. but when you have a guy who can singlehandedly win games by himself you can at least make the series interesting

yeah they almost lost the blazers series bcz of a lack of guard depth.
