the other day a friend who is new to "thinking about basketball" asked me in desperation how portland could move cj and i was like "you have to trade him to one of the dumb teams, probably for a guy who is worse"

― Clay, Thursday, June 3, 2021 7:19 PM (one minute ago)

right exactly. it's too bad the sixers hired a smart GM it screwed up a lot of things

J0rdan S., Thursday, 3 June 2021 23:21 (five years ago)

and the kings have halliburton so i'm not even sure they would do it. it's hard to find a good fit for him. i do like the duncan robinson idea but the filler players would also have to match up

J0rdan S., Thursday, 3 June 2021 23:22 (five years ago)

the thing w/ the sixers and CJ is that seth curry gives you, what, 50% of the production for 25% of the price?

― J0rdan S., Thursday, June 3, 2021 7:18 PM (twenty-three seconds ago) bookmarkflaglink

listen cj might not be an mvp candidate but seth curry just hangs around the 3pt line and thats about it theyre not comparable players, cj would be an almost unspeakably large upgrade

lag∞n, Thursday, 3 June 2021 23:22 (five years ago)

now that we've all buried him, cj will score 30+ against the nuggs

What's It All About, Althea? (Aimless), Thursday, 3 June 2021 23:25 (five years ago)

i'm not the biggest cj fan in the universe or indeed in my household but i think jordan's undervaluing him some. the guy did average 23-4-5 with excellent shooting splits, while playing in a backcourt with damian lillard! he's very good! he's better than duncan robinson and some stuff. he's just also completely untradeable at his value level

Clay, Thursday, 3 June 2021 23:26 (five years ago)

cj has some issues for sure but his skills are also very valued around the league, worse players with more egregious contracts are traded all the time, i think you could find a decent trade for him

lag∞n, Thursday, 3 June 2021 23:27 (five years ago)

lol yes he did go completely bonkers in an elimination game against the nuggs a couple years ago iirc xps

Clay, Thursday, 3 June 2021 23:27 (five years ago)

if weve learned anything in the nba its that no player is untradable, if anything the difficulty with trading cj is more about portland needing to compete now than anything to do with him, so all the young player/picks type trades are off the table

lag∞n, Thursday, 3 June 2021 23:29 (five years ago)

as I recall, in the early season before he was injured, cj was carrying the team for a while

What's It All About, Althea? (Aimless), Thursday, 3 June 2021 23:29 (five years ago)

cj is a really good offensive player, and a poor defender, there are a lot of teams that need lead guards, if portland decided they wanted to move him there would be offers

lag∞n, Thursday, 3 June 2021 23:31 (five years ago)

let say philly decided they needed to trade simmons after he averaged 4pts a game in a playoff series they lost, would there be a better package out there that would improve their team now than cj + stuff, maybe but not necessarily

lag∞n, Thursday, 3 June 2021 23:34 (five years ago)

i mean i would not trade simmons for cj but also i would play simmons at center instead of on a team where the best player is a center

lag∞n, Thursday, 3 June 2021 23:35 (five years ago)

first off i love dame and CJ and the blazers. i think CJ is better than duncan robinson and stuff and tobias harris too but the blazers wouldn't necessarily be able to upgrade the roster so much as they could rearrange it. i don't think you're trading CJ w/ his contract for an all star level wing -- i just don't think it's possible. so it's more like, can we make our wings better and replace CJ's production w/ norm powell and another guard

J0rdan S., Thursday, 3 June 2021 23:36 (five years ago)

i salivate at the idea of using simmons as a dedicated wing defender on a team that hasn't had a moment of wing defense in like 15 years or something

Clay, Thursday, 3 June 2021 23:37 (five years ago)

if the sixers are gonna trade simmons they'd be looking for, like, bradley beal or paul george or something. CJ is just a level below esp the way morey is going to look at it. maybe elton brand would've done it

J0rdan S., Thursday, 3 June 2021 23:38 (five years ago)

did we ever learn what really was the deal with harden for simmons

lag∞n, Thursday, 3 June 2021 23:39 (five years ago)

maybe brooklyn could still make that deal lol

lag∞n, Thursday, 3 June 2021 23:44 (five years ago)

Blazers have an amazing backcourt and constantly have churn and injuries in the frontcourt. It’s just that year after year. Somehow that has to stop or they blow it up and start over.

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 4 June 2021 00:01 (five years ago)

feels like they've had this team forever, they're probably on the inevitable downswing at this point

ciderpress, Friday, 4 June 2021 00:13 (five years ago)

there's def a sense, at least among those i've talked to, that when CJ stepped out of bounds for a turnover late in game 5 that was basically it for this squad

Clay, Friday, 4 June 2021 00:29 (five years ago)

def a strong sense that dame is gonna force his way out this summer (i don't buy it, people are just freaks for the drama)

Clay, Friday, 4 June 2021 00:30 (five years ago)

michael porter jr seems like a star

k3vin k., Friday, 4 June 2021 00:32 (five years ago)

he's on pace to hit 36 threes tonight

Clay, Friday, 4 June 2021 00:33 (five years ago)

what’s the record for 3s in a quarter?

k3vin k., Friday, 4 June 2021 00:35 (five years ago)

would be surprised if porter was ever a really complete player but he can light it up def

lag∞n, Friday, 4 June 2021 00:35 (five years ago)

smh cant stand chuck making fun of him

a lot of shot making going on out there between turnovers

Clay, Friday, 4 June 2021 00:42 (five years ago)

he should definitely not play imo

k3vin k., Friday, 4 June 2021 00:42 (five years ago)

nuggets not named mpj missing badly they should give it to mpj

lag∞n, Friday, 4 June 2021 00:43 (five years ago)

dude what is jokic doing on that reach in jeez

k3vin k., Friday, 4 June 2021 00:51 (five years ago)

what’s the record for 3s in a quarter?

― k3vin k., Thursday, June 3, 2021 5:35 PM (fourteen minutes ago) bookmarkflaglink

reg season it's 9 by klay in the famous third quarter he had in 2015

playoffs mpj just tied the record of 6 with antoine walker (2002), and damian lillard (10 days ago)

Clay, Friday, 4 June 2021 00:52 (five years ago)

ty 4 infos

k3vin k., Friday, 4 June 2021 00:54 (five years ago)

This is one of the craziest games I’ve ever seen

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 4 June 2021 00:56 (five years ago)

while looking for that i did come across this that made me lol

Most 3-pt field goal attempts, game
19 Russell Westbrook Apr 27, 2018

Clay, Friday, 4 June 2021 00:56 (five years ago)

lol russ, but the most 3 point attempts in a playoff game
is only 19? that seems low

k3vin k., Friday, 4 June 2021 00:57 (five years ago)

It’s crazy that the fans are back and these guys are still shooting like this

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 4 June 2021 00:58 (five years ago)

russ is also tied for second with 18 a year before (all the other guys with 18 are usual suspects)

Clay, Friday, 4 June 2021 00:59 (five years ago)

Norman Powell flopping after getting swatted by campazzo should be a suspension

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 4 June 2021 01:00 (five years ago)

doctors apparently not as sure as ad is that he will play

Lakers coach Frank Vogel says Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is available to play tonight's Game 6 against Phoenix ... while Anthony Davis, Vogel says, remains a game-time decision depending on his pregame medical evaluation.

lag∞n, Friday, 4 June 2021 01:14 (five years ago)

Damian Lillard just made his 35th 3-pointer of the Blazers-Nuggets series.

Nugs making a move

frogbs, Friday, 4 June 2021 01:55 (five years ago)

god Nurkic stares into the camera for 3 seconds and I feel like *I* got fouled

frogbs, Friday, 4 June 2021 01:58 (five years ago)

should've challenged that jokic foul on the three, not sure coaches get how challenges work sometimes

Clay, Friday, 4 June 2021 01:59 (five years ago)

nurk picking up all four fouls in the third hm

Clay, Friday, 4 June 2021 02:02 (five years ago)

dame should just do his dame time routine the whole 4th quarter why not

lag∞n, Friday, 4 June 2021 02:07 (five years ago)

it would be selfish not to

Clay, Friday, 4 June 2021 02:09 (five years ago)

what if dame time was all the time

lag∞n, Friday, 4 June 2021 02:10 (five years ago)

that Morris buzzer beater broke Portland's soul
