nah for sure they should be playoff stats, don’t see now anyone could object to this tbh

k3vin k., Saturday, 22 May 2021 00:06 (five years ago)

class project pat (m bison), Saturday, 22 May 2021 00:09 (five years ago)

what a totally insane season he had

8 players attempted at least 100 step-back 3s this year.

Only one made at least 37% of them - Steph Curry, who made 47% of his 161 step-back attempts this year!

if he didnt break his tailbone they woulda been a 5-6 seed :(

i was too much listening to your accent (Spottie), Wednesday, 26 May 2021 15:21 (five years ago)

think they wouldve had a tough time in the offs regardless just cause they didnt have enough other offense to keep teams from completely loading up on him

lag∞n, Wednesday, 26 May 2021 15:23 (five years ago)

that shot map is otherworldly. it would have been very frustrating seeing the dubs woefully poor at supporting him in the playoffs, but still sux that we don't get to see any more of him this season

lag∞n, Friday, 28 May 2021 16:07 (five years ago)

if he’s gonna hit deep threes and midrange and make the right pass to an open shooter every time you swarm him he’s basically indefensible

J0rdan S., Friday, 28 May 2021 16:55 (five years ago)

yeah passing is so key to his game guys are scared to leave their mans to double him

lag∞n, Friday, 28 May 2021 17:12 (five years ago)

just turned 22 a few months ago, you have to assume he's gonna be one of these guys who works on his game and adds something every offseason. never want to count your chickens but he is definitely on track for a LeBron-esque career

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Friday, 28 May 2021 17:14 (five years ago)

yeah the things hes done at his age are not normal, theyre not normal for any age!

lag∞n, Friday, 28 May 2021 17:27 (five years ago)

It’s weird, before he came into the league, I thought luka would be more of a conventional wing and that his lack of elite running & jumping athleticism might limit him. but watching him now it feels like he’s really a big, high-scoring point guard and his skills are perfectly suited to it

circles, Friday, 28 May 2021 18:12 (five years ago)

hes such an unusual player as far as how he gets his points, he uses his great first step to get to the second level then kind of bullies and hesitates his way around until he hits any number of weird touch shots or perfect passes, his 3pt game is a little more in line with your elite high usage guys as far as a lot of dribbling leading into stepbacks and so forth

lag∞n, Friday, 28 May 2021 18:20 (five years ago)

feel like i should mention his crossover too which is great and key to all this stuff

lag∞n, Friday, 28 May 2021 18:21 (five years ago)

like that shot chart hes just scoring from all over the paint who does that

lag∞n, Friday, 28 May 2021 18:32 (five years ago)

getting middle so constantly like that makes his passing work too

lag∞n, Friday, 28 May 2021 18:33 (five years ago)

Luka now has 4 career 40 point playoff games. That’s the same as:

Melo, Duncan, Dame, Kawhi, Karl Malone had in their careers.

It’s more than:
Kyrie, Pierce, AD, Ewing, Moses, Giannis, Isiah has in their careers.

He’s 22 years old and has played 11 career playoff games.

— nick wright (@getnickwright) June 3, 2021

With his next 40 point playoff game, Luka will move into a tie for 20th ALL TIME. He’ll tie Barkley, Bird, Havlicek, McAdoo, Petit & Dominique.

We are watching a true phenomenon.

ICMYI: I watched all of Curry's and Doncic's regular season 3PAs to see how accurate the NBA's shot type classifications are

tl;dr: Missed step backs are regularly recorded as missed jump shots resulting in inflated 3P% on step back attemptshttps://t.co/K8jyf5j9Cs pic.twitter.com/EatISv1OHY

this might be kinda dumb bc of how time works but still fun to stare at

Clay, Wednesday, 25 August 2021 01:11 (four years ago)

can't believe trae won a zone already

dirk
dirk dirk
dirk dirk
dirk kg

lag∞n, Wednesday, 25 August 2021 01:20 (four years ago)

that image is wacky and reminds you of just how good dirk was

think “Gypsy-Pixie” and misspelled. (We are a white family.) (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 25 August 2021 04:11 (four years ago)

The game has changed, dirk shoulda shot more threes honestly. Kinda surprised cP hasn’t taken one of those spots from dirk, or derozan

pure rim rest (Spottie), Wednesday, 25 August 2021 05:37 (four years ago)

at the time a lot of people myself included thought he should be taking more threes but the thing about dirks midrange was he could just get a good look from there all the time, prob one of the more reliable plays ever

lag∞n, Wednesday, 25 August 2021 15:00 (four years ago)

Oh yeah that shot was automatic I don’t think a ton more threes just avg like 1-2 more per game and he prob woulda won some scoring titles

pure rim rest (Spottie), Wednesday, 25 August 2021 15:44 (four years ago)

the #7 and #8 seeds are 0-32 in series and 41-144 (.222) in games.

Tracer Hand, Friday, 3 September 2021 07:59 (four years ago)

Only one player in NBA history has made 300 3s in a season while also shooting at least 40% from beyond the arc. Stephen Curry, who has done it 4 times in the last 6 seasons pic.twitter.com/lcaISrswBt

steph is universally recognized as the best shooter ever but feel like its not generally understood how much better he is than everyone else

lag∞n, Thursday, 9 September 2021 15:22 (four years ago)

hes so much better at shooting it puts him in the conversation for best offensive player ever

lag∞n, Thursday, 9 September 2021 15:22 (four years ago)

no one can even attempt as many shots as him!

lag∞n, Thursday, 9 September 2021 15:23 (four years ago)

That Kobe lol

a talented ‘Rebel’ with Balls (Spottie), Thursday, 9 September 2021 15:40 (four years ago)

buddy hield kind of an insane shooter. he must be bad at everything else & unlikable

J0rdan S., Thursday, 9 September 2021 15:51 (four years ago)

yeah i think thats pretty much it

lag∞n, Thursday, 9 September 2021 15:54 (four years ago)

this graph lays it out pretty well but i think in the last 2-3 seasons the tiers of NBA shooting are basically

[in his own stratosphere]

steph

...

dame
james harden

...

duncan robinson
buddy hield
joe harris

...

tim hardaway jr
devonte graham

klay would be the missing link here, we'll see how he looks. trae young was fighting to get in this group somewhere but was 32nd in 3PA this year and 45th in 3P made (behind ppl like kyle kuzma, mike conley, andrew wiggins, brandon ingram) so he's changed his game up, prob for the better ultimately. he also doesn't have the volume from three but anecdotally i'd prob throw middleton in this group, he should shoot more threes

J0rdan S., Thursday, 9 September 2021 16:03 (four years ago)

Obviously we can only speculate on what Klay will look like but based on his track record pre-injury he's sort of in his own tier, more efficient than Dame/Harden and more volume than the Joe Harrises of the world. Maybe that would put him at #2, though I'd probably slot him in between Dame and Harden given how much he has benefited from his context playing off Steph. And yeah, Steph really is amazing. So happy we got to see him back to himself this past year.

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Thursday, 9 September 2021 16:14 (four years ago)

yeah guys who create their own shots have to go ahead of spot up shooters like klay, klay is the best spot up shooter tho

lag∞n, Thursday, 9 September 2021 16:20 (four years ago)

harden is frustrating cause hes such a great shooter but insists on taking only the most difficult shots

lag∞n, Thursday, 9 September 2021 16:20 (four years ago)

Harden basically breaks the algorithm, even now with however many years to imitate his thing, no one really plays like him. I'm not complaining. Glad Trae has shifted to a different track

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Thursday, 9 September 2021 17:05 (four years ago)

klay in his own tier for spot up shooter yeah

creators:

steph >>>>>>> Dame >> Harden >>> PG >> lavine > tatum >>>> fvv > trae > luka > mitchell > middleton >>> rozier > graham > beal > kemba

spot up:

klay >>> hield >> harris > d rob >> bertans > bojan

-harris kinda capped since hes on a team with 3 insane scorers, but he'd be up there otherwise.
-Ingles has been amazing but not enough shot attempts really
-JJ woulda been in that bottom list easily but finally got old and dropped off last season
-we might have to add lonzo ball to this at some point lol
-kat needs to shoot more threes?
-cj belongs on one of these lists but not sure which one, he spots up and creates?

a talented ‘Rebel’ with Balls (Spottie), Thursday, 9 September 2021 17:16 (four years ago)

you cannot put lavine ahead of tatum on that list sorry i simply will not allow it

lag∞n, Thursday, 9 September 2021 17:58 (four years ago)

yah swap those
