look no one is saying that the nuggets don't have two nice young players to go w/ jokic. but the term "big 3" doesn't mean "three good players" or "one great player and two young players who may one day make an all star game." no one says the jazz have a big 3, or that the suns do, or that the hawks do, or even that the bucks do. the nuggets have the undisputed MVP of the league, if they had a big 3 they would be considered heavy favorites to walk into the conference finals even w/ one of the "3" injured. maybe one day! for now there is not even a debate to be had here

I said Grayson Allen was a solid backup and you freaked out about it and you were wrong. He’s not a terrible nba player. I was right and you were wrong and it’s almost pathological how you do this.

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 8 May 2021 18:43 (five years ago)

Other people in ILH laughed at the idea of him being a solid backup too I guess, but they didn’t double and triple down on it like you do.

imagine huffing and puffing abt being right about the zodiac killer in hoops form

class project pat (m bison), Saturday, 8 May 2021 19:05 (five years ago)

whats the lower bound for a big three? three all stars (celtics)? an mvp candidate and two all stars (bucks)? two alltimers and a perennial allstar (bron heat)? three first ballot hall of famers (garnett celtics)?

lag∞n, Saturday, 8 May 2021 19:05 (five years ago)

i think at min its 3 perennial all stars imo

class project pat (m bison), Saturday, 8 May 2021 19:10 (five years ago)

perennial all stars in their prime...

lag∞n, Saturday, 8 May 2021 19:12 (five years ago)

i think any teams best three players is their big three, and in fact the top three of anything constitutes a big three

lag∞n, Saturday, 8 May 2021 19:13 (five years ago)

like rn the nets are probably the only team with a big 3. those are just 3s of various sizes (not big).

but i think even if your guys are former all-stars they remain a big 3 in perpetuity as long as they stay together. so when klay returns, the dubs have him, dray, and steph and thats still a big 3 of sorts. tim, tony, and manu were a big 3 even after they were old and decrepit.

class project pat (m bison), Saturday, 8 May 2021 19:14 (five years ago)

*those other 3s are...

class project pat (m bison), Saturday, 8 May 2021 19:14 (five years ago)

so big three is a title rather than a descriptor then

lag∞n, Saturday, 8 May 2021 19:15 (five years ago)

all players are tbf really large humans, but the bigness indicates stature of a social sort rather than height

class project pat (m bison), Saturday, 8 May 2021 19:16 (five years ago)

kemba is not that large

lag∞n, Saturday, 8 May 2021 19:17 (five years ago)

kemba is an above average sized human

class project pat (m bison), Saturday, 8 May 2021 19:25 (five years ago)

It still blows my mind that Curry is 6'3". He looks so tiny

i just assume with all the lil guys theyre adding an inch or two

lag∞n, Saturday, 8 May 2021 19:37 (five years ago)

Even if Curry were 6'1", he'd be several inches above the US average for men.

He said he was terrible yeah

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 8 May 2021 19:44 (five years ago)

“When i said he was a terrible nba player actually I meant” like why are we doing this

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 8 May 2021 19:46 (five years ago)

good question

lag∞n, Saturday, 8 May 2021 19:47 (five years ago)

i’d once again be remiss to not point out there’s only one person on this board who “freaks out” over greyson allen and it certainly isn’t me

J0rdan S., Saturday, 8 May 2021 19:58 (five years ago)

anyway, i think the celtics had a big 3 with PP, ray, and KG... all are hall of famers. it feels on the lower end to me tho... the heatles of course. steph-klay-dray it almost feels like a disservice to what makes them good to call them a big 3 but i understand, steph-klay-KD obv. lebron-kyrie-love counts for me even tho love has fallen off since then. kyrie-harden-KD obv tho we’ll see how it plays out... bucks are pretty close in all honesty.

J0rdan S., Saturday, 8 May 2021 20:01 (five years ago)

I was right about Grayson Allen being a solid backup. You guys were very annoyed by the idea and basically called me an idiot for saying it and then it turned out I was right. Given the nature of the conversation it would be cool if people could admit they were wrong but I accept that no one really does that online. That’s bad though, that things work that way. I would say in general it’s a juvenile way to handle things.

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 8 May 2021 20:08 (five years ago)

I guess you've proved yourself the bigger man than all the rest of us, Matt, having the courage to declare yourself completely right all along and the wisdom to see how anyone who disagrees is being childish. Hats off to you.

sharpening the contraindications (Aimless), Saturday, 8 May 2021 20:30 (five years ago)

You don’t disagree, is the thing.

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 8 May 2021 21:27 (five years ago)

a "big 3" consists of 3 players over 6' 9" in height

frogbs, Saturday, 8 May 2021 21:38 (five years ago)

I believe I said some pro-Grayson stuff

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Saturday, 8 May 2021 22:11 (five years ago)

btw I was just ribbing, even self-ribbing a little, the time I initially said “big 3” was after the bubble where murray looked like he was making a leap and I was definitely getting ahead of myself about porter at the time. my comment today was just having a little fun with that because porter really does look like an imminent all star now. murray had a really nice last few months of the season btw after a slow start

k3vin k., Saturday, 8 May 2021 22:20 (five years ago)

Porter looks like he could be a top 20 player at some point and Murray will probably be a top 6 SG as long as his knees hold up. That’s enough for me.

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 8 May 2021 22:27 (five years ago)

i had a high school sex ed teacher who referred to the penis and testicles as "The Big Three"

two levert assists from this happening with a quarter left

Wow. Per NBC Sports Washington broadcast, this could be the first time in NBA history three players record triple-doubles in the same game. How fitting.

Would you rather have TJ McConnell’s haircut or be bald?

Heez, Sunday, 9 May 2021 01:14 (five years ago)

lol westbrook just bricked a 15 footer for the win classic russ

lag∞n, Sunday, 9 May 2021 01:30 (five years ago)

levert did not record any assists in the 4th but now there is overtime

lag∞n, Sunday, 9 May 2021 01:31 (five years ago)

levert not only did not get any more assists he committed a terrible foul on westbrook to fall behind then got his shit blocked by westbrook at the buzzer SMH

lag∞n, Sunday, 9 May 2021 01:46 (five years ago)

nets dont seem like theyre in a good place

lag∞n, Sunday, 9 May 2021 02:42 (five years ago)

three lunatic alphas on one squad who coulda seen it coming

Clay, Sunday, 9 May 2021 02:48 (five years ago)

that said, if I were a betting man

Clay, Sunday, 9 May 2021 02:49 (five years ago)

what would you bet

lag∞n, Sunday, 9 May 2021 02:52 (five years ago)

I have no idea how to feel about the Sixers in the playoffs. They keep winning, but haven't played a good/healthy team in what seems like forever.

if I were a betting man, I'd lose my shirt on practically every bet I placed. my confidence in my ability to foresee the future is very low.

sharpening the contraindications (Aimless), Sunday, 9 May 2021 03:04 (five years ago)

Sixers would have trouble with Milwaukee I think

frogbs, Sunday, 9 May 2021 03:05 (five years ago)

Oh, absolutely.

keto keto bonito v industry plant-based diet (PBKR), Sunday, 9 May 2021 03:08 (five years ago)

philly looking like theyll get the 1 seed which is good

lag∞n, Sunday, 9 May 2021 03:10 (five years ago)

what would you bet

― lag∞n,

that the really good players will be rested and locked in and play really good in the post-season, so the nets will improve on their shaky regular season aka i would prob bet the nets will win "the whole shabang"

Clay, Sunday, 9 May 2021 03:36 (five years ago)

wow i dont know, but maybe!

lag∞n, Sunday, 9 May 2021 03:39 (five years ago)

it’s so crazy it just might happen
