I remember jordan LOLing at me when I called the nuggets core a “big three”...
― Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 8 May 2021 02:33 (five years ago)
the lakers are running every single offensive possession through AD and folks, it’s not great!
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 8 May 2021 02:37 (five years ago)
Bojan with one of the greatest shooting performances ever. Good for him I guess
― Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 8 May 2021 03:10 (five years ago)
losses to the less-than full strength lakers and jazz are not great omens for the playoffs but I’m still pretty happy with how they’re playing. would be really cool for gordon to step up offensively tho
― k3vin k., Saturday, 8 May 2021 03:58 (five years ago)
There’s no reason he shouldn’t be getting15-18 ppg

His offense was so much better with Murray, without him there’s lots of ponderous iso’s

Awards and honors NBA All-Rookie Second Team: 2017Rising Stars Challenge MVP: 2017Western Conference Rookie of the Month: October/November 2016 [63]ok in your defense he did win the MVP of the rising stars challenge 4 years ago
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 8 May 2021 04:36 (five years ago)
i get that the lakers basically have to run their entire offense through davis rn but he just doesn't look great to my eyes, like he's at about 75% or something
― "MVP Love" (Clay), Saturday, 8 May 2021 04:37 (five years ago)
also it is nice to see folks in moda! but you won't catch me there for a longassed time! (because of the healthcare crisis due to the novel coronavirus)
that's a shame
― mookieproof, Saturday, 8 May 2021 04:40 (five years ago)
Always lovely to beat L.A. More so when the playoff standings tie breaker is on the line. I wish AD a full recovery later this summer.

Jamal Murray still has a way to go to get to the level of future Hall of famed Tyler Herro
― Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 8 May 2021 17:05 (five years ago)
uh huh. let it out.
now what does that have to do w/ calling jamal murray and michael porter jr. part of a "big 3"
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 8 May 2021 17:14 (five years ago)
Idk man must be just homer brain like someone saying Dion Waiters is the future

Like is it a bit when you dig in your heels like this?
― Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 8 May 2021 18:20 (five years ago)
big 3 now means 3 guys who got/will get big contracts
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 8 May 2021 18:21 (five years ago)
still waiting for matt to tell me how many games the pacers could win
Like the Grayson Allen thing is one where you should just admit you’re wrong but it’s gonna be like a 5 year thing where he keeps being a good backup and you maintain he’s secretly the worst player in the nba
― Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 8 May 2021 18:22 (five years ago)
you maintain he’s secretly the worst player in the nba
no one is maintaining that. he's a bench player who is good enough to be a regular season rotation player on some teams, but not on others. he's not a player you'd play more than a few spot minutes in the playoffs. He also has a highly unlikable personality and is known for dirty play. Repping for him as a 'good player' just reflects bad judgment.

lol what...
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 8 May 2021 18:32 (five years ago)
look no one is saying that the nuggets don't have two nice young players to go w/ jokic. but the term "big 3" doesn't mean "three good players" or "one great player and two young players who may one day make an all star game." no one says the jazz have a big 3, or that the suns do, or that the hawks do, or even that the bucks do. the nuggets have the undisputed MVP of the league, if they had a big 3 they would be considered heavy favorites to walk into the conference finals even w/ one of the "3" injured. maybe one day! for now there is not even a debate to be had here
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 8 May 2021 18:36 (five years ago)
I said Grayson Allen was a solid backup and you freaked out about it and you were wrong. He’s not a terrible nba player. I was right and you were wrong and it’s almost pathological how you do this.
― Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 8 May 2021 18:43 (five years ago)
Other people in ILH laughed at the idea of him being a solid backup too I guess, but they didn’t double and triple down on it like you do.
― Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 8 May 2021 18:45 (five years ago)
what jordan said is there for anyone who wants to read it, without filtering it through Matt's brain:
part two of the nba 2020-21 anything but regular season

whats the lower bound for a big three? three all stars (celtics)? an mvp candidate and two all stars (bucks)? two alltimers and a perennial allstar (bron heat)? three first ballot hall of famers (garnett celtics)?
― lag∞n, Saturday, 8 May 2021 19:05 (five years ago)
i think at min its 3 perennial all stars imo
― class project pat (m bison), Saturday, 8 May 2021 19:10 (five years ago)
perennial all stars in their prime...
― lag∞n, Saturday, 8 May 2021 19:12 (five years ago)
i think any teams best three players is their big three, and in fact the top three of anything constitutes a big three
― lag∞n, Saturday, 8 May 2021 19:13 (five years ago)
like rn the nets are probably the only team with a big 3. those are just 3s of various sizes (not big).
but i think even if your guys are former all-stars they remain a big 3 in perpetuity as long as they stay together. so when klay returns, the dubs have him, dray, and steph and thats still a big 3 of sorts. tim, tony, and manu were a big 3 even after they were old and decrepit.
― class project pat (m bison), Saturday, 8 May 2021 19:14 (five years ago)
*those other 3s are...
so big three is a title rather than a descriptor then
― lag∞n, Saturday, 8 May 2021 19:15 (five years ago)
all players are tbf really large humans, but the bigness indicates stature of a social sort rather than height

― lag∞n, Saturday, 8 May 2021 19:17 (five years ago)

Even if Curry were 6'1", he'd be several inches above the US average for men.

good question

i’d once again be remiss to not point out there’s only one person on this board who “freaks out” over greyson allen and it certainly isn’t me
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 8 May 2021 19:58 (five years ago)
anyway, i think the celtics had a big 3 with PP, ray, and KG... all are hall of famers. it feels on the lower end to me tho... the heatles of course. steph-klay-dray it almost feels like a disservice to what makes them good to call them a big 3 but i understand, steph-klay-KD obv. lebron-kyrie-love counts for me even tho love has fallen off since then. kyrie-harden-KD obv tho we’ll see how it plays out... bucks are pretty close in all honesty.
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 8 May 2021 20:01 (five years ago)
I was right about Grayson Allen being a solid backup. You guys were very annoyed by the idea and basically called me an idiot for saying it and then it turned out I was right. Given the nature of the conversation it would be cool if people could admit they were wrong but I accept that no one really does that online. That’s bad though, that things work that way. I would say in general it’s a juvenile way to handle things.
― Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 8 May 2021 20:08 (five years ago)
I guess you've proved yourself the bigger man than all the rest of us, Matt, having the courage to declare yourself completely right all along and the wisdom to see how anyone who disagrees is being childish. Hats off to you.
