I've talked about Mutombo's death with two different classes the past couple of days, both him and Rose. The contrast was too perfect: one guy a hero who built schools and hospitals, the other a disgraced villain. I'm just a casual basketball fan, so the whole finger-wagging thing was new to me, as was that great Geico commercial Mutombo did. (Learned all this in an ABC news report of his death on YouTube.) I was with a grade 8 class today: by the end of the indoor soccer game they had for gym, I had half of them finger-waving everytime they blocked a shot or made a save.
