grayson allen is having a "rock solid season"? oooh, this sounds good! so plz, explain what does that mean?

Dependable, consistent two-way play

Dependable, consistent two-way play

There are thousands of high school players you could say the same thing about.

Judge Roi Behan (Aimless), Thursday, 8 April 2021 17:08 (five years ago)

it's funny that grayson ended up on the same team as dillon brooks

Wayne Grotski (symsymsym), Thursday, 8 April 2021 17:12 (five years ago)

this conversation is starting to get a bit ridiculous but the thing about greyson is that in the aggregate his stats look ok but his play pings pretty wildly from game to game. often (to me) he does not look like a useful NBA player -- there are also games where he scores 20 points. he's more of a boom or bust bench scorer than a consistent two way player. if he was the latter he would be a starter

J0rdan S., Thursday, 8 April 2021 17:18 (five years ago)

I really like that Grizzlies squad. All of those young dudes can play, including Allen.

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Thursday, 8 April 2021 17:36 (five years ago)

slo mo is maybe the most underrated role player in the league at this point.

scrappy group for sure. ja is having a really bad season and JJJ hasnt even played and theyre in 8th

i was too much listening to your accent (Spottie), Thursday, 8 April 2021 17:47 (five years ago)

greyson allen went off tonight!

Hawks played their 5th game in 7th days.

They were missing 5 of their 8 NBA players who are 6-8 or taller.

You’re just totally wrong about this, you even said he’s “objectively bad” at the nba level. No he’s a good backup. You need to cope about it.

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 8 April 2021 23:14 (five years ago)

Grayson Allen is a career 39% three point shooter who is good on defense. 🤷‍♂️

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 8 April 2021 23:19 (five years ago)

matt, nobody cares unless it involves commenting on how punchable his face is.

call all destroyer, Thursday, 8 April 2021 23:26 (five years ago)

you can be a highly competent basketball player and everyone can also hate your guts and want you to go away, this is in no way limited to grayson allen

Clay, Thursday, 8 April 2021 23:40 (five years ago)

actually i called him "satisfyingly terrible" which is a different proposition. he's not a very efficient two point scorer nor is he particularly productive rebounding or passing. he's a great FT shooter but doesn't draw many fouls. per 36 he's putting up 15-5-3 on 42/40/90 shooting this year. you have to believe a lot in his shot as far as him being a good offensive player goes. maybe he's a true 40% three point shooter time will tell. personally i don't trust his game, i've seen too many games where he's out of control, inefficient, turning the ball over, committing fouls etc. he's athletic enough to be a good defender and has a good rate of steals this season. the idea that he's a consistent and dependable player, i don't see that in his stats. he's very much a player who looks good in the eye of the beholder -- i am not a beholder

J0rdan S., Thursday, 8 April 2021 23:52 (five years ago)

I said he was a “rock solid backup” at the end of the season last year, I was right about that, you continue to stomp your feet about it like you did with the 2011 draft. Leave that shit in the 2010s man.

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 8 April 2021 23:55 (five years ago)

well i think there's only one person itt stomping their feet right now

J0rdan S., Thursday, 8 April 2021 23:59 (five years ago)

he's the sort of player who could win the grizzlies a playoff game (he won duke a national title) but also get three straight DNPs in a series because he can't score efficiently or play defense w/o fouling, could also get suspended for intentionally tripping someone, kicking them in the nuts etc

J0rdan S., Friday, 9 April 2021 00:03 (five years ago)

He has one of the lowest foul rates on the team in terms of fouls per 48

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Friday, 9 April 2021 00:21 (five years ago)

Grayson's own politics appear to be not at all Ted Cruz-like, I am sorry to report (based on his twitter account anyway)

Wayne Grotski (symsymsym), Friday, 9 April 2021 02:19 (five years ago)

This jazz/blazers game has been a humdinger

G.A.G.S. (Gophers Against Getting Stuffed) (forksclovetofu), Friday, 9 April 2021 02:49 (five years ago)

Aw, portland spun out in the third

G.A.G.S. (Gophers Against Getting Stuffed) (forksclovetofu), Friday, 9 April 2021 03:55 (five years ago)

yeah more hum than dinger now

(•̪●) (carne asada), Friday, 9 April 2021 14:19 (five years ago)

i mean they might but not because theres a clipper curse

lag∞n, Friday, 9 April 2021 14:22 (five years ago)

curses are real

ciderpress, Friday, 9 April 2021 14:27 (five years ago)

that fuckhead shaughnessy writing books about the curse of the bambino all over tv for years then one day i guess the curse was lifted (happened to coincide with a change in ownership lol)

lag∞n, Friday, 9 April 2021 14:30 (five years ago)

the owner was cursed

ciderpress, Friday, 9 April 2021 14:31 (five years ago)

now theres a curse of mookie

lag∞n, Friday, 9 April 2021 14:32 (five years ago)

trading away a mvp level player is a good way to get yourself cursed

ciderpress, Friday, 9 April 2021 14:34 (five years ago)

the sports gods frown upon it because youre supposed to try to get mvp level players

lag∞n, Friday, 9 April 2021 14:35 (five years ago)

most teams don't trade away their MVPs because they're afraid of the curse

ciderpress, Friday, 9 April 2021 14:35 (five years ago)

yeah i mean it goes without saying they want to trade their mvps who wouldnt

lag∞n, Friday, 9 April 2021 14:36 (five years ago)

i'm just waiting for the Clippers to win a chip so i don't have to post to this board any longer

(•̪●) (carne asada), Friday, 9 April 2021 14:51 (five years ago)

he’s so good at keeping his dribble for a guy his size

k3vin k., Saturday, 10 April 2021 16:59 (five years ago)

i love how simple he keeps it i mean if you can just get low and drive past ben simmons why not

lag∞n, Saturday, 10 April 2021 17:06 (five years ago)

Baseball was better when the Red Sox and Cubs were cursed. There was a magic to it. Does anything in sports really compare now? The Browns sort of have it but that was the “Cleveland sports curse” that the cavs ended

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 10 April 2021 17:11 (five years ago)

all of the currently 'cursed' nba teams deserve it tbh

ciderpress, Saturday, 10 April 2021 17:15 (five years ago)

indy and utah are the only two that come to mind as having put in a good effort over the past few decades but not getting there

ciderpress, Saturday, 10 April 2021 17:18 (five years ago)

the buffalo bills? ppl don’t consider them cursed per se but they’ve had a really depressing run since losing all those super bowls. kinda turning around now tho

J0rdan S., Saturday, 10 April 2021 17:50 (five years ago)

blazers are cursed since taking oden

Clay, Saturday, 10 April 2021 17:57 (five years ago)

in that case, can someone curse the Timberwolves?

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Saturday, 10 April 2021 17:58 (five years ago)

basketball doesnt have curses only baseball is ancient and stupid enough to have curses

lag∞n, Saturday, 10 April 2021 18:03 (five years ago)

Bills also had the music city miracle happen to them

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 10 April 2021 18:38 (five years ago)

The Bills rock, extremely cool team to be a fan of imo

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 10 April 2021 18:39 (five years ago)

tables might disagree
