i mean its always more likely a team will continue to play as it has been recently than not but if youre going to pick a team to "shock the world" it makes sense to pick one that has the talent to and has played at that level as recently as last season, also the celtics have had injury issues too FWIW

I think we can all agree that the nets losing would be very funny

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 3 April 2021 17:10 (five years ago)

the problem with the nets losing is that i don’t want the sixers or bucks to win either, quite the dilemma

J0rdan S., Saturday, 3 April 2021 17:20 (five years ago)

nets have a rookie never even coached before ever coach too

not likely to be a factor, imo. he has assistants and a lot of playoff experience. he'll do ok. the biggest challenge he'll face will be if his stars get cranky at each other and that would be a headache for any coach.

Judge Roi Behan (Aimless), Saturday, 3 April 2021 17:21 (five years ago)

We need a phx vs Milwaukee finals

i don’t think the nets will win the title, idk if there’s much evidence that you can ad hoc your way into a title in year one. they also seem particularly combustible and fragile given some of the personalities, playoff and injury histories on that team. i could see them getting out of the east tho if they have the 1 seed

― J0rdan S., Saturday, April 3, 2021 12:34 PM (one hour ago) bookmarkflaglink

I mean they could, right? the lakers basically did this, the heat and KD dubs should have done it and then did it in year two...their combination of playmaking and shooting is going to be really formidable in a 7 game series, and their stars are all 10 year vets, they’re not green

k3vin k., Saturday, 3 April 2021 20:42 (five years ago)

i really can't imagine the generic problems of having a first year coach applying less to a team than nash to the nets,

Clay, Saturday, 3 April 2021 21:04 (five years ago)

that makes some sense though there are some rotational choices he could easily mess up

call all destroyer, Saturday, 3 April 2021 21:16 (five years ago)

they of course could win. but history would tell us that you probably need at least a year together to in order to make it thru the playoffs and win the title. the heatles are great supporting evidence for my point? in the super team era of putting multiple star players together in one offseason no team has won in the first year. the KD warriors are a different case bcuz they were adding one player to a core that had been together for many seasons. the heatles choked, lebron second go round in cleveland took a year, the clippers blew it, the rockets with cp3 got close but never got there... the playoffs usually break teams that haven’t been thru it together.

J0rdan S., Saturday, 3 April 2021 21:30 (five years ago)

um the ‘08 celtics take exception to that post.

call all destroyer, Saturday, 3 April 2021 21:34 (five years ago)

if Dirk didn’t go supernova for the last few minutes of that one finals game the Heatles probably would’ve done it in year one

frogbs, Saturday, 3 April 2021 22:34 (five years ago)

oh here we go. we know the history. KAT dunks all over Joel Embiid. pic.twitter.com/hRcPQYnMLD

yeah I mean life is a roll of the dice right but if you're putting your nickel down it's gonna be on the team with the best players

yeah same

k3vin k., Sunday, 4 April 2021 03:49 (five years ago)

i think many teams have a shot this year but if theyre healthy i would prob take the lakers as well, idk who id take coming out of the east tough call, lakers might not be healthy tho, one can hope

lag∞n, Sunday, 4 April 2021 03:52 (five years ago)

god willing

k3vin k., Sunday, 4 April 2021 03:58 (five years ago)

Milwaukee star guard Jrue Holiday and the Bucks have agreed to a four-year maximum contract extension worth up to $160 million, his agent Jason Glushon of @GlushonSM told @TheAthletic @Stadium.

lmao really

Clay, Sunday, 4 April 2021 18:56 (five years ago)

“Up to” doing some work in these headlines, it’s reportedly $135 mil before performance bonuses. Marginally more reasonable. But still, yeah. I would imagine the vision is his career winds down a lot like Kyle Lowry’s - steadying force on a contender who isn’t asked to be a top 2 or 3 guy all the time, but can rise to the occasion when necessary. Overpaid but the locker room intangibles make up for it? Obv that model looks good if you make multiple finals or win a chip, and looks dumb if they flame out again for the next couple years.

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Sunday, 4 April 2021 19:07 (five years ago)

this is them putting all their chips into this core basically bc they have no other choice

class project pat (m bison), Sunday, 4 April 2021 19:28 (five years ago)

yep big over pay for jrue in both the trade and contract but... it could work

lag∞n, Sunday, 4 April 2021 19:30 (five years ago)

bise otm

Judge Roi Behan (Aimless), Sunday, 4 April 2021 19:32 (five years ago)

i mean, it was etched in stone that he was getting this contract the minute they traded all those picks for him. but they're buying in before there's proof of concept

J0rdan S., Sunday, 4 April 2021 19:34 (five years ago)

jrue was amazing, borderline dominant, the last time he was in the playoffs

J0rdan S., Sunday, 4 April 2021 19:35 (five years ago)

yup, and i wonder how different his perception around the league would be without that series.

lag∞n, Sunday, 4 April 2021 22:09 (five years ago)

frogbs, Sunday, 4 April 2021 22:26 (five years ago)

Chet Holmgren is crazy, his arms look too long to be real

Wayne Grotski (symsymsym), Monday, 5 April 2021 00:25 (five years ago)

I walk my dog past Minnehaha Academy where him and Suggs went and never bothered to go 😕

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Monday, 5 April 2021 01:14 (five years ago)

I read some scout saying that Holmgren is the best shotblocker he’s ever seen at the high school level

J0rdan S., Monday, 5 April 2021 03:38 (five years ago)

“what if bol bol were good?” is a prospect hitting the matt armstrong bullseye

J0rdan S., Monday, 5 April 2021 03:45 (five years ago)

yeah the skinniness and altogether very slight frame is the only thing that gives me pause about him
