A legend in his own mind, as they say.
― Judge Roi Behan (Aimless), Tuesday, 30 March 2021 16:59 (five years ago)
This won’t end that badly for him but what a crazy decision. How much does he hate playing for the lakers?
― Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 31 March 2021 00:36 (five years ago)
that number seems solid for both sides
― i was too much listening to your accent (Spottie), Wednesday, 31 March 2021 00:44 (five years ago)
that would slot him in the van vleet / rozier / brogdon / dragic range which seems about right

hes well worse than all those guys IMHO, not a fan, shouldve taken that money
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 31 March 2021 00:51 (five years ago)
he's prone to untimely turnovers and he's not that great of a facilitator imo
― (•̪●) (carne asada), Wednesday, 31 March 2021 13:03 (five years ago)
his roll off the bench was great because he does come with energy and and a nice change of pace.
― (•̪●) (carne asada), Wednesday, 31 March 2021 13:05 (five years ago)
yeah def microwave type
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 31 March 2021 13:13 (five years ago)
Michael Porter Jr is shooting 45% from 3 on 6 attempts per game. Must be fun to do that
― Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 31 March 2021 16:55 (five years ago)
apparently jj redick went on his podcast and called the pelicans front office a bunch of liars. i guess i’ll have to track that down.
― call all destroyer, Wednesday, 31 March 2021 17:31 (five years ago)
uh oh lol
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 31 March 2021 17:48 (five years ago)
apparently they told him they were gonna trade him to a team in new york city to be near his family then they traded him to dallas
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 31 March 2021 18:02 (five years ago)
i mean they should not have told him that if they werent going to follow through but also

― lag∞n, Wednesday, 31 March 2021 18:04 (five years ago)
yeah he admitted to being naive in thinking that a team would do him a favor like that. interestingly he also felt that with jrue getting traded and stan getting hired he was going to lose a bunch of playing time which was accurate.
― call all destroyer, Wednesday, 31 March 2021 18:23 (five years ago)
thing I just learned about jj:His father's background as a stoneware potter led to his middle name, "Clay."love a literal dad
― Clay, Wednesday, 31 March 2021 18:27 (five years ago)
haha
― i was too much listening to your accent (Spottie), Wednesday, 31 March 2021 18:36 (five years ago)
dallas is a good spot for him tho
Yea don't know why he's whining; he cried about the Sixers FO "not valuing me" or some similar BS when he left Philly too. If being close to family was so ungodly important to him above all else then don't sign with a team on the other side of the country away from them or just retire lol. The "Woe is me, I have to play in DALLAS with LUKA DONCIC for ~3 months on my massive undeserved $12+ million contract" pity party not a good look.
― Sabre of Paradise (trevor phillips), Wednesday, 31 March 2021 18:41 (five years ago)
he specifically said he was excited about the fit in dallas.
― call all destroyer, Wednesday, 31 March 2021 18:48 (five years ago)
i think his point was just that it’s not good to promise something you have no intention of delivering.
― call all destroyer, Wednesday, 31 March 2021 18:49 (five years ago)
I'm pretty sure this magical "promise" he talks about was never along the lines of "We PROMISE to send you to NY at ALL COSTS or David Griffin will COMMIT HARA KIRI FOR HIS CRIMES". It was probably more along the lines of "Hey, we'll TRY to send you to a Northeast team, but your washed up play and bloated contract isn't gonna make that the easy for us". But JJ Redick isn't gonna say something that makes JJ Redick look like a liar or embellisher on JJ Redick's sponsored podcast of course lol.
― Sabre of Paradise (trevor phillips), Wednesday, 31 March 2021 18:54 (five years ago)
i do love his pods tho
― i was too much listening to your accent (Spottie), Wednesday, 31 March 2021 18:55 (five years ago)
he said he had a direct conversation with griffin and that griffin gave him his word he would get him to the northeast if it wasn’t working in new orleans this season. i have no idea why someone would make that up.
― call all destroyer, Wednesday, 31 March 2021 18:58 (five years ago)
I mean dude also claimed Kenrich Williams departure was one of the deciding factors in him wanting a trade in the first place; I think at that point you're kinda looking for reasons to feel slighted or wronged lol. If he didn't pull this same routine with the last FO that dumped him when he flamed out at the end of his last contract, and this wasn't all being aired out on his own personal podcast echo chamber I'd be more willing to fully believe his side of things.
― Sabre of Paradise (trevor phillips), Wednesday, 31 March 2021 19:06 (five years ago)
he didn’t really say that. he said they traded two of their versatile defenders making it less likely stan would give him playing time.
― call all destroyer, Wednesday, 31 March 2021 19:18 (five years ago)
JJ also said he lobbied harder than anyone for SVG to get the job in the first place and was more excited than anyone to play again for him. But now he's saying he also wanted a trade the second he got hired... because they traded a roleplayer on a minimum?? Eric Bledsoe has been statistically and eye-test wise one of the worst players in the whole NBA this season, yet Griff apparently had to pull Stan aside to FORCE him to play their young guys like NAW a bit more over him lol. SVG is not the coach that benches veterans, let alone ones he has familiarity with like JJ, for young players, even if you're falling off defensively (again, hasn't stopped Bled from getting ~35 mins a night).
Boogie Cousins also said Dell Demps and NOLA played him in free agency in his words... when in reality they offered him more $$$ than anyone in the league would have dreamed of coming off that achilles injury. Now he's almost out of the league entirely begging for 10 day deals. Players always wanna look like the good guy in these situations. That usually means they stretch the truth to portray the FOs and GMs who don't do what they want as the bad guy.
― Sabre of Paradise (trevor phillips), Wednesday, 31 March 2021 19:32 (five years ago)
it also takes two to tango in a trade... the nets have joe harris and nothing left to trade anyway, the sixers traded for george hill, the celtics traded for fournier... i guess the knicks could have done it? the wizards? it's like 5 total teams in the northeast
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 31 March 2021 19:34 (five years ago)
no one wants a podcaster on their team
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 31 March 2021 19:49 (five years ago)
lol jj was literally benched for a while this season iirc
― call all destroyer, Wednesday, 31 March 2021 19:59 (five years ago)
yeah tbf jj prob has a pretty snitchy rep, i mean if i was a GM i wouldn't want him spilling
― Clay, Wednesday, 31 March 2021 20:23 (five years ago)
Mo Bamba has looked pretty good since the vucevic trade.
― Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 31 March 2021 23:54 (five years ago)
Jrue Holiday was a pretty good pickup for Milwaukee huh
― frogbs, Thursday, 1 April 2021 03:44 (five years ago)
the heat have won their last two games by scores of 98-88 and 92-87, like dinosaurs walking the NBA earth

if a "lebron out for season" april fool's link shows up in my news aggregator, i assume it means lakers fans fell for it?

― Fetchboy, Friday, 2 April 2021 06:00 (five years ago)
Aaron Gordon has looked like a perfect fit tbh. Really engaged on defense, picking up the playbook fast it seems.

Was thinking of checking out the dubs game only to see they are down by 53 points in the 3rd.
