NBA 2020-21 reg season 1st half thread

the players effected are a very small percentage of the union so i get why those guys are complaining about having to fly to a different city and take more daily covid tests instead of getting some time off just so the NBA can recoup some money off an event no players want to participate in and no fans want to watch. it’s not dangerous as much as it’s just useless and stupid

Casual fans love all-star games. The fact they have no bearing on anything doesn't matter to them since their team awareness or connections are weak and they get to see great players showing off their skills.

xp if chris paul and lebron james really truly didn't want an all-star game i don't think we would be having one.

I really don’t understand why players have a problem with the all-star game.

its worse from a virus standpoint than a normal game but also they prob all had in their heads that they were getting a vacation

if you fake an injury you still get credit for the all star selection right, seems like an obvious solution

and obvs usually the allstar game is a big party and players are mostly happy to be there but theres no party this year

they would rather have 5 days off than have to fly to atlanta and wake up every morning to get a covid test so that they can do a bunch of PR events and then play in a game they don’t care about. not very hard to understand why they are against it

feel like also theyre just not feeling very cared for by the league which is fair, like its one thing to play the season, but the all star game really doesnt need to happen

also a shortened offseason, a compressed schedule. waking up early every morning to get tested, no freedom... again but very hard to understand why they would like a 5 day break

yeah wld be curious to hear how the decision got made / generally how the union operates

it seems like the handful of guys at the top make the decisions and also that most stuff gets run by lebron

cp3, kyrie, and jaylen brown are in the leadership and will probably have to play in the game.

is it just the union suits talking to the league suits then the union suits go to the players and are like sorry this needs to happen suck it up and the players are like groan ok whatever

it might be a bargaining chip for later, like we agreed to the ASG so now we want xyz, but more than likely it’s the union not having much power and not wanting to put up a huge fight over something effecting like 25 players
