have to admit jimmy is a guy I've underrated his whole career, just could not get a hold on his value with the injuries and drama shit but clearly when locked in he's a top 15 player

k3vin k., Friday, 29 January 2021 05:03 (five years ago)

i have said this before but anything that happened in the bubble should probably just be excluded from analysis going forward.

i’m not sure i would go this far... when the playoffs start i’m still gonna believe that bron/AD are the most unbeatable combo in the league and that requires the proof of concept that was the bubble playoffs. i’m still gonna wonder if PG is going to wilt and thus the clippers are going to crumble.

i think the more pertinent issue as it pertains to the east is that the nets, sixers, and bucks overhauled their rosters in ways that makes it very hard to know how the playoffs on that side are going to play out

J0rdan S., Friday, 29 January 2021 05:28 (five years ago)

think the nets very clearly are gonna win the east, on account of having the best players

k3vin k., Friday, 29 January 2021 05:43 (five years ago)

i wouldn’t say very clearly but i would call them the heavy favorites, which, given that they mortgaged like 8 seasons worth of past and future drafts in that trade, they oughta be

J0rdan S., Friday, 29 January 2021 05:56 (five years ago)

right haha

k3vin k., Friday, 29 January 2021 05:58 (five years ago)

historically its been hard to win in the playoffs with dogshit defense

lag∞n, Friday, 29 January 2021 12:14 (five years ago)

Embiid is playing so well right now and is not getting any younger I kind of think the Sixers if healthy at the deadline should be all-in on the next 3 years, meaning trade young guys and picks if you need to. They need another scorer. In another 3-5 years they probably will need to process again.

The only thing giving me pause is the East suddenly has a couple of tough teams in Brooklyn, Mil, and Bos, though all are flawed (as are the Sixers). Based on names alone you have to think the Nets are the favs.

Smokahontas and John Spliff (PBKR), Friday, 29 January 2021 12:50 (five years ago)

PBKR how do u feel abt demar derozan on the sixers bc i bet u cd get him if you rly wanted

trans-panda express (m bison), Friday, 29 January 2021 13:31 (five years ago)

His contract is up after this season?

I guess he would put one of Danny Green/Seth Curry on the bench, but he doesn't shoot 3s so I'm not sure he is what they are looking for. Maybe?

Smokahontas and John Spliff (PBKR), Friday, 29 January 2021 13:45 (five years ago)

ah but it’s 2021 and he’s now a 35% 3 pt shooter tyvm

trans-panda express (m bison), Friday, 29 January 2021 14:14 (five years ago)

Well that changes everything ;)

Smokahontas and John Spliff (PBKR), Friday, 29 January 2021 14:36 (five years ago)

Draymond Green is currently shooting 35/23/67

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 29 January 2021 15:12 (five years ago)

is that good

lag∞n, Friday, 29 January 2021 15:15 (five years ago)

Pretty bad imo. Also averaging .1 blocks per game which makes wonder about the whole athleticism deal

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 29 January 2021 15:19 (five years ago)

His rebounds are also way down. No reporting on it yet... but I’m starting to worry. Could be the rona effects.

Oubre is 36/22/77 which is much worse cos the dubs need his scoring so badly.

a nice controlled drift (Spottie), Friday, 29 January 2021 15:25 (five years ago)

also gets harder to keep yrslef revved up and locked in at extreme draymond levels especially when the team isnt that good

lag∞n, Friday, 29 January 2021 15:26 (five years ago)

sorry for an idiot like me what are represented by the numbers in those slashlines

Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Friday, 29 January 2021 15:27 (five years ago)

field goal percentage / three point percentage / free throw percentage

lag∞n, Friday, 29 January 2021 15:28 (five years ago)

Oubre was 1/11 in his revenge game last night vs the suns missing half their roster idgi I thought it was the whole being extorted by his x for 3 million but he’s only had like 2 good games since that story broke

a nice controlled drift (Spottie), Friday, 29 January 2021 15:28 (five years ago)

lol what missed that one

lag∞n, Friday, 29 January 2021 15:29 (five years ago)

Tracer. 50/40/90 is the ideal benchmark that only gets hit maybe by like one player for a season.

Average across nba is 46/36/76 or so

a nice controlled drift (Spottie), Friday, 29 January 2021 15:32 (five years ago)

thanks! have never drilled into these stats. baseball stats i know by feel - tenths of a percentage point will make a difference - but this stuff i never really think about in this way

Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Friday, 29 January 2021 15:43 (five years ago)

i guess i do remember the great FT shooters hovering around 90% - that's one i do know

Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Friday, 29 January 2021 15:43 (five years ago)

yeah 40% from 3 is kind of a talisman, tho obvs how you get those shots/how many you take matters a lot too

lag∞n, Friday, 29 January 2021 15:56 (five years ago)

apparently jaylen brown is hitting 57% of his midrange jumpers, which he is taking twice as many of

Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Friday, 29 January 2021 16:54 (five years ago)

yeah saw that, almost surely unsustainable, but that doesnt mean he cant hit them at a good rate like 45-50%, cause he def is generating good looks

lag∞n, Friday, 29 January 2021 17:10 (five years ago)

as for the extra attempts from that range, his scorings gone from 20 last year to 27 this, gonna be hard to make that jump while keeping yr shot distro to only the finest shots

lag∞n, Friday, 29 January 2021 17:17 (five years ago)

tho all this is prob somewhat academic cause with kemba and jayson back theres gonna be fewer shots to go around and he can be more judicious

lag∞n, Friday, 29 January 2021 17:18 (five years ago)

whether that trio ever really figures out how to play together idk yikes, wld be cool if kemba could be more of a distributor but his game is really about just going balls out and idk if it will work for him to try to do something different, they can obvs stagger their minutes but in crunch time you want them to be working well together, which over a year into their relationship, tho really not many total games due to many injuries, they still have no idea how to do, theyre kinda all iso players

lag∞n, Friday, 29 January 2021 17:22 (five years ago)

crunch time in that last game was ugly as hell

lag∞n, Friday, 29 January 2021 17:24 (five years ago)

lol in NBA2K the canned commentary always says, when referring to boston's opponents, "they're going to try to make kemba shoot the ball instead of be a creator, they think that's the key to containing what he brings to this offense" which is like the opposite of what you're saying (and i think what you're saying is right, from what i've seen of this season)

Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Friday, 29 January 2021 17:27 (five years ago)

lol yeah get it together video game guys

lag∞n, Friday, 29 January 2021 17:43 (five years ago)

One thing is clear about Jaylen tho: he really is a very good three point shooter. Which considering his other gifts makes him an all-star.

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 29 January 2021 18:21 (five years ago)

on this point 2K agrees

Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Friday, 29 January 2021 18:45 (five years ago)

yeah jaylen on track to breeze into the allstar (game?) this year

lag∞n, Friday, 29 January 2021 18:58 (five years ago)

did anybody explain on this thread what the hell is wrong with oubre? like is he just bad or

the serious avant-garde universalist right now (forksclovetofu), Friday, 29 January 2021 19:16 (five years ago)

theres no explanation. he just cant buy a bucket. he's probably never been so open so maybe its messing with his head. his energy and defense is still good but i think he's dumb as rocks. 20 games in and he still has no idea where to go/be on the offensive end... which is horrible in a read and react offense. he's also allergic to passing the ball. i think he has something like 2-3 assists to curry on the season...

a nice controlled drift (Spottie), Friday, 29 January 2021 19:20 (five years ago)

his stats just don't make sense to me but kerr appears to have committed and seems to think he'll figure it out.

the serious avant-garde universalist right now (forksclovetofu), Friday, 29 January 2021 19:24 (five years ago)

by any measure oubre is bad and not getting better. kerr "appears to have committed" because the front office committed him. kerr "seems to think he'll figure it out" because he is chained to oubre and cannot state what he is thinking without actively making the whole thing worse than it already is.

Compromise isn't a principle, it's a method (Aimless), Friday, 29 January 2021 19:41 (five years ago)

lol fair

the serious avant-garde universalist right now (forksclovetofu), Friday, 29 January 2021 19:51 (five years ago)

man seriously he should shut it down for the season.

a nice controlled drift (Spottie), Friday, 29 January 2021 20:33 (five years ago)

yeah the 2021 Timberwolves are nothing to sacrifice for

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Friday, 29 January 2021 21:10 (five years ago)

Apparently this was the second time that Oubre sued this lady

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 29 January 2021 22:17 (five years ago)

Embiid is 2/9 from the field but has 11 pts with 2+ minutes left in the first.

Smokahontas and John Spliff (PBKR), Saturday, 30 January 2021 01:35 (five years ago)

He's now 55/40/83 for the season.

Smokahontas and John Spliff (PBKR), Saturday, 30 January 2021 03:30 (five years ago)

I wish the Timberwolves were never born

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Saturday, 30 January 2021 03:45 (five years ago)

the spurs just beat the nuggets to move into 4th seed in the west, a thing i definitely thought would happen

trans-panda express (m bison), Saturday, 30 January 2021 03:52 (five years ago)

I really really like the Spurs. I think people are way too skeptical about them.

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 30 January 2021 04:03 (five years ago)

including me! i had them 9-12 seed this year.
