shaq is literally a cop... like literally. ernie johnson gave an impassioned plea for ppl to have civility in the trump era and revealed he wrote in john kasich for president. chuck says stupid borderline fireable shit all the time. it's still the best postgame sports show on TV by a million miles. like, there isn't even anything else in the discussion.

its a low bar, thats the thing, it was great then they added shaq, now what do we have, paul pierce saying he could still beat bron in one on one, theyve abandoned us to a barren ladscape

tho it was obvs going downhill before shaq, thats why they added him, which predictably backfired BIGTIME

i don't love shaq but i do think he's gotten better over time. he's less annoying now than he was in the first few years on the show.

anyway it's not just the panel, there's a sensibility w/ the show from the production side that nothing else in sports television has been able to replicate. you can throw all sorts of ex players or smart basketball thinkers on TV and the result is almost always something pretty stiff and boring. have you guys ever watched the rachel nichols ESPN show? there's just something missing. there's a je nais se quois w/ inside the NBA that still exists to me and doesn't exist and has never existed anywhere else that transcends the fact that chuck spends 90 seconds each show complaining about ppl shooting threes

yah i cant think of another sports show i like more honestly, it's pretty one of a kind in that respect, very much in a comfort food role for me... but yah low bar and i just wish it was as good as it used to be. shaq ruined it for me, or at least made it so it wasnt essential viewing. and i dont want a show of boring talking heads who just break down nba actions and such but a little splash of that would help balance it. i thought even just having that weird-ass area 21 show was good enough even tho it was mostly bad

i feel like replacing shaq with a semi- or god forbid even actually intelligent player (Iguodala? Ray Allen? Baron Davis? Steve Nash once he's done with this season?) would shift the conversation around and put Chuck in the Megan McCain seat where he belongs.

the show would be way better with KG replacing Shaq

What was so amazing about that is that it seemed like they just got thrown together on the show and discovered that compatibility. And nbatv works with Turner sports! Just move them over

xxp embiid is still effective as a baby and a bunch of sixers are playing great

the odds are decent that flip's kid is not a good coach but otoh the wolves sans towns might have the worst roster in the nba

embiid is obvs great but id feel pretty good about a full strength celtics vs philly in a playoff series even with the bottom of the celtics rotation being absolutely dire

simmons is kind of a non entity in docs offense theyre gonna have to figure something out (trade him for brad beal?)

furkan korkmaz is one of those euros who was drafted as a shooter but cant actually shoot

I agree it's unfair when I believe D-Lo and KAT have played a grand total of 5 or 6 NBA games together since the trade

but this was literally the only head coaching job in the league he would have been a candidate for

it would be interesting. seems like doc has cleaned up a lot of the foibles of the brett brown era and the roster makes more sense. but simmons seems less engaged than ever and he's supposed to be their second-best player.

Agreed that Celtics with Tatum are a whole different thing. Simmons can only guard one of them.
