i seem to remember embiid mixing it up with marcus smart a few times, i guess after marcus had switched onto him. felt like he was a threat from everywhere, midrange, everything. hard to handle!

Embiid has been playing smarter (and better) this year than I've seen. Less shenanigans (albeit still plenty).

its very funny that zone defense was illegal for years in the nba and then after it was legalized for years everyone assumed that you couldnt really use it effectively in the nba, and now its understood to be good actually

with so many modern nba defenses concentrating on rim protection and chasing shooters off the three point line, mid-range shots are necessarily more available as good open looks, because it's impossible to defend the whole floor all the time. if you can make 'em at a high enough percentage, they're worth taking in volume.

sure ive said this before but the idea that the midrange is dead is just not true! the thing that died was the long two, those shots a step or two inside the 3pt line, shots from say inside 18ft havent fallen off much, theres a lot of misleading charts out there
