it's honestly criminal that our idea to ban high fives after free throws has not caught on this year of all years, during a pandemic!

Players build their games around repetition. Take away their hand slaps after free throws and their world will wobble on its axis.

i suspect one contributor to the crazy variance so far is the empty arenas. not getting much press because we're used to it at this point, but feel like it was a very different thing to play without fans in the bubble, which was more like a camp, with everyone in the same place. i wonder if it's messing with players' heads in a different way to be in their home venues with 10-15K empty seats (does anyone know how big the bubble arenas were?).

way too many extraneous factors piled on top of each other this season to ever have any confidence in causality, but another really big one is the discrepancies in offseason rest. teams that didn't go to the bubble just got 9 months off! not a huge surprise they are completing some shocking upsets over teams that were still playing in august
