The Miami Heat have been unwilling to include Tyler Herro in any package for James Harden so far, per @GregSylvander pic.twitter.com/uGqnZYHLWW

we're finding out how teams view harden

Spottie, Thursday, 10 December 2020 16:24 (three years ago) link

i for one do not believe the heat will not really put herro in

lag∞n, Thursday, 10 December 2020 16:32 (three years ago) link

does jimmy want to play with harden? does harden fit the 'pat riley heat culture'

Spottie, Thursday, 10 December 2020 16:35 (three years ago) link

i mean prob no to both but hes good at basketball the heat who made the nba finals btw would prob be better than they were before

lag∞n, Thursday, 10 December 2020 16:44 (three years ago) link

i wonder if riley wouldnt like a chance to try to big dog harden tho lol

lag∞n, Thursday, 10 December 2020 16:45 (three years ago) link

looking at him like if that guy just ran some wind sprints

lag∞n, Thursday, 10 December 2020 16:45 (three years ago) link

jimmy & harden seems like a recipe for disaster

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Thursday, 10 December 2020 17:05 (three years ago) link

mb they shd trade jimmy for harden

lag∞n, Thursday, 10 December 2020 17:06 (three years ago) link

last time he was on zach lowe’s podcast le batard said the heat think herro can be better than devin booker. if they’re right there’s an argument to be made that the rest of harden’s career isn’t worth that — esp since herro has several cheap years left — but if they want harden (or beal) it’s hard to imagine that happening without herro being in the deal. they just don’t have another asset of real significance.

but i think pretty much every team will be refusing to trade their best asset for harden right now, i doubt anyone is in a huge rush to get him. for the buyers it makes sense to wait it out and see if the price lowers as the situation gets more untenable, it’s not like the season pre-deadline matters all that much to good teams anyway

J0rdan S., Thursday, 10 December 2020 17:15 (three years ago) link

yeah theyre clearly feeling out the market i mean who wouldnt want a great deal on 1 james harden

lag∞n, Thursday, 10 December 2020 17:17 (three years ago) link

Pat Riley really messed up by missing the Cyber Monday sale on Harden

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Thursday, 10 December 2020 17:27 (three years ago) link

that is the risk

lag∞n, Thursday, 10 December 2020 17:40 (three years ago) link

i wld be tempted were i a gm to just make my best offer now and scoop him up then you have him for the whole season and you have him

lag∞n, Thursday, 10 December 2020 17:42 (three years ago) link

imagining harden trying to get jordan on the phone right now

the serious avant-garde universalist right now (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 10 December 2020 17:45 (three years ago) link

he should just post here

Harden has to go to Philly, right? that's the only team whose vibes can really absorb his fussy loser energy without much detriment

All-Star forward Paul George has signed a maximum contract extension with the Los Angeles Clippers that’ll guarantee him as much as $226 million over the next five years, his agent Aaron Mintz of @CAA_Basketball tells ESPN.

would be interesting if harden went to the heat and had to get in shape. maybe it's the best of both worlds for him -- militant basketball culture in a city w/ renowned strip clubs

J0rdan S., Thursday, 10 December 2020 18:20 (three years ago) link

it cld work

lag∞n, Thursday, 10 December 2020 18:26 (three years ago) link

yikes on that george deal

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Thursday, 10 December 2020 18:28 (three years ago) link

i mean whatre you gonna do

lag∞n, Thursday, 10 December 2020 18:29 (three years ago) link

wld be funny if they traded him tho

lag∞n, Thursday, 10 December 2020 18:31 (three years ago) link

philly or miami are the only places besides houston i can imagine harden yeah

ciderpress, Thursday, 10 December 2020 18:44 (three years ago) link

sometimes i forget that PG snapped his leg in half.

Spottie, Thursday, 10 December 2020 18:45 (three years ago) link

i was watching a youtube about the collapse of that pacers team and had totally forgotten too, then they got to that part and i was like oh no are they going to show it so i turned it off, it wasnt that good

lag∞n, Thursday, 10 December 2020 18:50 (three years ago) link

45 million a year for paul george is kinda wow but go to it

the serious avant-garde universalist right now (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 10 December 2020 18:51 (three years ago) link

also had two shoulder surgeries in the last couple seasons..

Spottie, Thursday, 10 December 2020 18:52 (three years ago) link

i guess now he won't need to view any upcoming season as championship or bust

call all destroyer, Thursday, 10 December 2020 18:52 (three years ago) link

I would like to place a bet that the Clippers aren't going to get past the Lakers into the NBA Finals this year, next year, the year after, the year after that, or the year after that.

Respectfully Yours, (Aimless), Thursday, 10 December 2020 19:02 (three years ago) link

i think they cld do it

lag∞n, Thursday, 10 December 2020 19:06 (three years ago) link

yah the bubble was really bad for that team

Spottie, Thursday, 10 December 2020 19:22 (three years ago) link

Clippers need to invest a whole lot of resources in figuring out exactly what stars aligned and what factors caused them to so align during that one great year PG had in OKC.

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Thursday, 10 December 2020 19:25 (three years ago) link

and then uh figure out how to interlace those factors with whatever the hell Kawhi needs in order to be Kawhi without draining team chemistry.

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Thursday, 10 December 2020 19:26 (three years ago) link

yeah that’s an awful deal from the team side for george

k3vin k., Thursday, 10 December 2020 19:35 (three years ago) link

I think the clippers are in deep shit, players were desperate to leave in the offseason, their best player has really bad knees, lots of finger pointing. And they burned historic draft capital to do this.

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 10 December 2020 19:42 (three years ago) link

really good for the nuggets tho :) xp

k3vin k., Thursday, 10 December 2020 19:46 (three years ago) link

it’s a bad contract but it’s also pocket change for ballmer & they’ll prob always be operating well into the tax. his body breaking down would be my main concern... i also don’t understand why they had to give him a player option

J0rdan S., Thursday, 10 December 2020 19:49 (three years ago) link

ballmer hasn't yet internalized the extent to which the nba's CBA is designed to neutralize his deep pockets as a competitive advantage.

Respectfully Yours, (Aimless), Thursday, 10 December 2020 20:00 (three years ago) link

that's not entirely true. the warriors have a huge competitive advantage having an owner who is willing/able to pay out a huge tax bill every year. basically all you have to do from a team perspective is juke the books to avoid the repeater tax but if you're willing to pay an extra $50m or $80m or $100m above the cap in a season there is nothing stopping you

Golden State tax bill is currently $66M

The addition of Kelly Oubre would see it increase to $134M

$14.4M of Oubre + $68M in taxes= $82.4M

J0rdan S., Thursday, 10 December 2020 20:04 (three years ago) link

feel like he will do something crazy like spend half a billion in luxury taxes just bc he can

discourse stu (m bison), Thursday, 10 December 2020 20:05 (three years ago) link

which just hands his competitors a half billion dollars free and clear

Respectfully Yours, (Aimless), Thursday, 10 December 2020 20:24 (three years ago) link

i think you know youre both right the system does make it hard to just buy a good team, but ability to spend more does have its benefits too

lag∞n, Thursday, 10 December 2020 20:26 (three years ago) link

like paying a billion dollars for kelly oubre is not gonna help that much, but its not nothing

lag∞n, Thursday, 10 December 2020 20:27 (three years ago) link

lol
