I bet Dunn will end playing a chunk of minutes next to Trae

― Spottie, Sunday, 22 November 2020 18:58 (five years ago)
There had been pressure on management to put together a playoff roster
They were under pressure to do their job?
― The Solace of Fortitude (Aimless), Sunday, 22 November 2020 19:56 (five years ago)
hawks are still a big step down from any of last seasons seeds 1 through 7
― micah, Sunday, 22 November 2020 19:57 (five years ago)
yeah congrats to the hawks for putting together a solid 8th seed
― call all destroyer, Sunday, 22 November 2020 19:59 (five years ago)
im not totally clear on the cap/tax implications of a hayward for turner trade but mb the celtics were worried abt only getting one quality player back because their bench is so bad, i know when they let hayward walk that allowed them to get under the tax line which gave them access to the full MLE with which they signed thompson, i cant find how much they gave teague but him and thompson are prob making around the same amount combined that turner makes and the celtics wouldve had to take back more than just turners salary in a trade which wouldve put them over the tax line started the repeater clock ticking etc
― lag∞n, Sunday, November 22, 2020 12:26 PM (two hours ago) bookmarkflaglink
i think this is a pretty decent read on the situation. teague signed for either the minimum or the biannual which would be either 2M or 3.5M, plus tristan at around 9.5, is way less than turner at 17 or 18 plus something like mcdermott at 7 that indy would be sending back to keep their books reasonable. maybe ainge thought it was only worth going into the tax for turner/warren.
― call all destroyer, Sunday, 22 November 2020 20:04 (five years ago)
ok, my best guess taking tristan off the celtics books and adding turner and mcdermott would put them less than 3M away from the tax line with 14 players on roster and payton pritchard as the backup point guard.
― call all destroyer, Sunday, 22 November 2020 20:14 (five years ago)
Payton Pritchard is a gym rat who never stops practicing, the kind of player who has to operate at near 100% of his athletic ability every minute he's on the floor and must find a way to compete by being craftier than his opponent. He will at least be a better player than Grayson Allen.
― The Solace of Fortitude (Aimless), Sunday, 22 November 2020 20:29 (five years ago)
hawks roster looks good on paper but it’s a bunch of guys who have never played together before jumping in to a weird abbreviated season + a franchise oriented around a PG who treats NBA games like AAU tournaments. is their coach any good? 8th seed is def within range but i’ll gladly take the under on them
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 22 November 2020 20:31 (five years ago)
not sure what the east bottom feeders plans are but its possible that one of det/was/cha/orl fluke their way into a decent season

― Matt Armstrong, Monday, 23 November 2020 03:19 (five years ago)
its painful to watch them scheme to get westbrook and hayward and then not even come close to realizing their sad defeated fantasy
― lag∞n, Monday, 23 November 2020 03:22 (five years ago)
every year theyre like ok we got an unknown ball cousin lubelo ball im cool with that we let the young guys cook then trade for john wall at the deadline
― lag∞n, Monday, 23 November 2020 03:24 (five years ago)
I feel bad for Spellman. Seemed like he was just starting to come into his own last season and now he plays for the knicks
― Fetchboy, Monday, 23 November 2020 03:46 (five years ago)
idk if anyone here listens to the bodega boys 'cast, but this weeks' had some good mid-00's knicks remembrances humor
― Clay, Monday, 23 November 2020 04:29 (five years ago)
truly believe there is no path to relevancy for the knicks under current ownership. dolan only knows one way of operating — star-driven quick fixes — but no player who can make that plan work wants to go there. KD and kyrie choosing brooklyn really should’ve automatically triggered a sale of the knicks. on top of it their core of young talent after years of top 10 picks is so unimpressive. frank ntilikina, kevin knox, rj barrett and obi toppin? yikes. their future is as bleak as any team in the NBA
― J0rdan S., Monday, 23 November 2020 04:40 (five years ago)
you're not thrilled with the signings of austin rivers, nerlans noel, elfrid payton, and alec burks?
― call all destroyer, Monday, 23 November 2020 04:52 (five years ago)
yeah the knicks will never be good, truly the bottom org in the nba, despite tough competition from the twolves and kings
― ciderpress, Monday, 23 November 2020 04:56 (five years ago)
xp thing is, in a vacuum, those are some quality role players on reasonable contracts! but its the knicks and thats the best they can get.
― discourse stu (m bison), Monday, 23 November 2020 14:16 (five years ago)
to break the curse, the knicks must resign oakley and ewing and start them for 82 games

dario 3/27 to stay. perfect contract really
― Spottie, Monday, 23 November 2020 16:32 (five years ago)
suns are legit. with GS losing klay i think they're the 4 seed at least.
― discourse stu (m bison), Monday, 23 November 2020 16:44 (five years ago)
i think utah will move up to the 3-4 seed range and box the suns out. just a little prediction from my brain
― ciderpress, Monday, 23 November 2020 16:52 (five years ago)
ehhhhhhhhhh maybe
― discourse stu (m bison), Monday, 23 November 2020 16:56 (five years ago)
the lakers are going to sleepwalk through the season to the 1 seed and steamroll the playoffs imo
― k3vin k., Monday, 23 November 2020 17:58 (five years ago)
this is also true
― ciderpress, Monday, 23 November 2020 18:20 (five years ago)
with lebron its starting to feel like when the spurs were getting older and every year we'd be like this is the year the spurs will fall off. and yet they went on for like 7 more seasons of greatness. having said that... is this the year lebron falls off? lol
― Spottie, Monday, 23 November 2020 18:37 (five years ago)
― Matt Armstrong, Monday, 23 November 2020 18:42 (five years ago)
it's set up for lebron to have a considerably low workload during the reg season

Am I crazy or was Markieff considered the better twin at one point
― Matt Armstrong, Monday, 23 November 2020 19:22 (five years ago)
yeah kieff had the more polished offensive game when they were young. i think marcus was a little more of a generic PF type and then he learned to shoot the shit out of the ball.
― call all destroyer, Monday, 23 November 2020 19:27 (five years ago)
he definitely was around the time they were drafted and got a couple years after xp
― k3vin k., Monday, 23 November 2020 19:29 (five years ago)
purely from memory I feel like around the time marcus had that good season for the celtics and markieff was lost in the wizards morass was the inflection point, but I could be getting my timeline mixed up
― k3vin k., Monday, 23 November 2020 19:32 (five years ago)
