Bogdanovic would have brought everything together, honestly.

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 22 November 2020 03:55 (five years ago)

that was a great trade...... too great perhaps

J0rdan S., Sunday, 22 November 2020 03:57 (five years ago)

Ibaka 2/19 to clips. I think he may fit better than trez and we know he and kawhi are cool

Spottie, Sunday, 22 November 2020 04:46 (five years ago)

that hollinger excerpt makes some good points and also engages in a lot of speculation

k3vin k., Sunday, 22 November 2020 05:07 (five years ago)

Fanbo Zeng will look to continue the tradition of international players at Gonzaga, following in the footsteps of Japanese forward Rui Hachimura (No. 9 pick in 2019 NBA Draft) and Lithuanian big man Domantas Sabonis (No. 11 pick in 2016), among many others. https://t.co/bslYxWIdbG

so hayward would have taken 4/100 from the pacers but ainge didnt want to make the s/t work

micah, Sunday, 22 November 2020 11:37 (five years ago)

lol ainge

discourse stu (m bison), Sunday, 22 November 2020 13:44 (five years ago)

local reporting is that bos/ind never got close on a deal. i think what actually happened is charlotte kool-aid manned in with a wild overpay and hayward took it.

call all destroyer, Sunday, 22 November 2020 14:07 (five years ago)

the celtics wanted warren, the pacers understandably didn’t want to give him up

la table sur la table (voodoo chili), Sunday, 22 November 2020 14:29 (five years ago)

i thought gordo was high af for opting out of 34M but the only person smoking something stronger was MJ

discourse stu (m bison), Sunday, 22 November 2020 14:30 (five years ago)

hayward is going to go down as one of the top 10 highest paid players ever and he's made one AS team thats wild af

discourse stu (m bison), Sunday, 22 November 2020 14:31 (five years ago)

i mean wont be one of the highest paid for long, his new contract isnt even for the max, let alone THE SUPPERMAX

lag∞n, Sunday, 22 November 2020 14:40 (five years ago)

lol supper max, thats the cool way to say thanksgiving

lag∞n, Sunday, 22 November 2020 14:41 (five years ago)

it really doesn't make sense that the C's would hold out for Warren if the alternative was losing Hayward for nothing, I don't really get it. I am over my head with understanding the financial angle though. maybe Danny, in contrast to the rest of the world, thought Turner's contrast actually wasn't a good value?

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Sunday, 22 November 2020 14:42 (five years ago)

love the supper max

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Sunday, 22 November 2020 14:44 (five years ago)

feel like theres a lot we dont know like i havent even heard what indy was willing to pay hayward/how far apart they were on that, or if he had this hornets offer in his pocket the whole time, it def cld be possible that ainge just doesnt like turner or also maybe he thought there wasnt much risk of hayward taking a big offer from a shitty team

lag∞n, Sunday, 22 November 2020 14:48 (five years ago)

one things for sure i can seen why he was holding out for warren, the celtics have absolutely zero wing depth

lag∞n, Sunday, 22 November 2020 15:00 (five years ago)

celtics have zero anything outside of 4 good starters

ciderpress, Sunday, 22 November 2020 15:14 (five years ago)

the thompson and teague signings were fine imo both those guys shd be dece in their roles, but who backs up smart/brown/tatum theyve just got nothing

lag∞n, Sunday, 22 November 2020 15:18 (five years ago)

oh i missed those yeah those guys are fine not that fond of teague but as a backup whatever

ciderpress, Sunday, 22 November 2020 15:40 (five years ago)

now i’m wondering if the pacers were even willing to give up turner bcuz idk why the celtics wouldn’t just take him even in the name of asset accumulation

J0rdan S., Sunday, 22 November 2020 16:47 (five years ago)

maybe the pacers were waiting on bogdan before offering turner to the celtics and so hayward was just like, fuck it?

J0rdan S., Sunday, 22 November 2020 16:54 (five years ago)

yeah i mean who knows really weve got some tweets by a guy from the boston globe to go on basically

lag∞n, Sunday, 22 November 2020 17:13 (five years ago)

the reporting that jordan called hayward late that first night really has me thinking that charlotte detected the stalemate and increased their offer to get it done.

call all destroyer, Sunday, 22 November 2020 17:20 (five years ago)

mj chasing a gambling high in fa negotiations, no other explanation for the wackiness of their signings in recent years

discourse stu (m bison), Sunday, 22 November 2020 17:25 (five years ago)

im not totally clear on the cap/tax implications of a hayward for turner trade but mb the celtics were worried abt only getting one quality player back because their bench is so bad, i know when they let hayward walk that allowed them to get under the tax line which gave them access to the full MLE with which they signed thompson, i cant find how much they gave teague but him and thompson are prob making around the same amount combined that turner makes and the celtics wouldve had to take back more than just turners salary in a trade which wouldve put them over the tax line started the repeater clock ticking etc

lag∞n, Sunday, 22 November 2020 17:26 (five years ago)

celtics have a couple small trade exemptions to fill out their wing depth and maybe could get a bigger one back or maybe even a player if they can work out a sign and trade for hayward

lag∞n, Sunday, 22 November 2020 17:30 (five years ago)

honestly for this year teague and thompson could be better than turner and randos but turner wouldve been more of "a piece", tho i think ainge is clearly in the dont pay for middling centers camp which is fair, and staying under the tax line is worth something too

lag∞n, Sunday, 22 November 2020 17:35 (five years ago)

but at least lamelo with come up under the strong leadership of gordon hayward

lag∞n, Sunday, 22 November 2020 17:36 (five years ago)

gordon: have you ever read anything by ayn rand?
lamelo: *scrolling thru phone* check this shit out, i did a 69 with an ig model yesterday and she blew weed smoke on my dick

discourse stu (m bison), Sunday, 22 November 2020 17:44 (five years ago)

lol

lag∞n, Sunday, 22 November 2020 17:54 (five years ago)

i will not miss hayward on the celtics that was not a great run

lag∞n, Sunday, 22 November 2020 17:55 (five years ago)

yeah he missed the year where they actually needed him and then returned as the 4th best wing rather than the 1st as he would have been

ciderpress, Sunday, 22 November 2020 18:09 (five years ago)

bad luck

ciderpress, Sunday, 22 November 2020 18:10 (five years ago)

and he couldnt stay healthy

lag∞n, Sunday, 22 November 2020 18:10 (five years ago)

this roster def cld make the offs in the east

Atlanta's starting five could be: Trae Young, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Danilo Gallinari, John Collins, Clint Capela. Off the bench: Rondo, Kris Dunn, Onyeka Okongwu, Cam Reddish, Hunter, Tony Snell. There had been pressure on management to put together a playoff roster, this is it.

lag∞n, Sunday, 22 November 2020 18:13 (five years ago)

even forgot huerter

lag∞n, Sunday, 22 November 2020 18:14 (five years ago)

yeah its not a bad team now

discourse stu (m bison), Sunday, 22 November 2020 18:18 (five years ago)

*kings can still match the bogdanovic offer

lag∞n, Sunday, 22 November 2020 18:18 (five years ago)

That starting roster gonna get torched

Spottie, Sunday, 22 November 2020 18:43 (five years ago)

I bet Dunn will end playing a chunk of minutes next to Trae

Spottie, Sunday, 22 November 2020 18:44 (five years ago)

fun little team good job The Atlanta Hawks Basketball Club

ciderpress, Sunday, 22 November 2020 18:51 (five years ago)

They will be fun to watch for sure

Spottie, Sunday, 22 November 2020 18:58 (five years ago)

There had been pressure on management to put together a playoff roster

They were under pressure to do their job?

The Solace of Fortitude (Aimless), Sunday, 22 November 2020 19:56 (five years ago)

hawks are still a big step down from any of last seasons seeds 1 through 7

micah, Sunday, 22 November 2020 19:57 (five years ago)

yeah congrats to the hawks for putting together a solid 8th seed

call all destroyer, Sunday, 22 November 2020 19:59 (five years ago)

i think this is a pretty decent read on the situation. teague signed for either the minimum or the biannual which would be either 2M or 3.5M, plus tristan at around 9.5, is way less than turner at 17 or 18 plus something like mcdermott at 7 that indy would be sending back to keep their books reasonable. maybe ainge thought it was only worth going into the tax for turner/warren.

call all destroyer, Sunday, 22 November 2020 20:04 (five years ago)

ok, my best guess taking tristan off the celtics books and adding turner and mcdermott would put them less than 3M away from the tax line with 14 players on roster and payton pritchard as the backup point guard.

call all destroyer, Sunday, 22 November 2020 20:14 (five years ago)

Payton Pritchard is a gym rat who never stops practicing, the kind of player who has to operate at near 100% of his athletic ability every minute he's on the floor and must find a way to compete by being craftier than his opponent. He will at least be a better player than Grayson Allen.

The Solace of Fortitude (Aimless), Sunday, 22 November 2020 20:29 (five years ago)

hawks roster looks good on paper but it’s a bunch of guys who have never played together before jumping in to a weird abbreviated season + a franchise oriented around a PG who treats NBA games like AAU tournaments. is their coach any good? 8th seed is def within range but i’ll gladly take the under on them
