some big contracts being handed out
Honestly think the Hornets could be a fun team here... first time I’ve ever felt like there’s an actual plan
― Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 21 November 2020 18:39 (five years ago)
bet this will end up a sign n trade
― lag∞n, Saturday, 21 November 2020 18:39 (five years ago)
Lamelo + a zillion guys who play defense, including Hayward. It makes sense
― Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 21 November 2020 18:40 (five years ago)
For Charlotte to add Gordon Hayward they have to:-Work a S&T with Boston-Trade away $7.5M in salary elsewhere-Waive and stretch Nic Batum at about $9M a year for the next three years— Keith Smith (@KeithSmithNBA) November 21, 2020
― lag∞n, Saturday, 21 November 2020 18:42 (five years ago)
Wait they have to do all three of those things?
― Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 21 November 2020 18:44 (five years ago)
seems like thats what its saying
― lag∞n, Saturday, 21 November 2020 18:45 (five years ago)
all the sites only have them at $80m tho and the cap is 100 so it must be sign and trade OR the other two options combined
― lag∞n, Saturday, 21 November 2020 18:47 (five years ago)
conceptually that makes sense too if you do a sign n trade then youre cool by its nature
So the hornets signed Hayward for $120 million? Huh I didn’t realize NBA teams were allowed to hand out 23-year contracts.
― Evans on Hammond (evol j), Saturday, 21 November 2020 18:50 (five years ago)
welp this sucks for the celtics shdve taken turner
― lag∞n, Saturday, 21 November 2020 18:50 (five years ago)
tho i guess they cld get something back in a sign n trade and then via not having hayward on the books have access to the full MLE but still
2nd year in a row they played hardball and someone swooped in with a silly contract
― lag∞n, Saturday, 21 November 2020 18:55 (five years ago)
My guys love overpaying Celtics (see: Rozier, Terry)
― Evans on Hammond (evol j), Saturday, 21 November 2020 18:55 (five years ago)
The last four major contracts Mitch Kupchak has signed in free agency:* Gordon Hayward: four-years, $120M* Terry Rozier: three-years, $56.7M* Timofey Mozgov: four-years, $64M* Luol Deng: four-years, $72M— Field Yates (@FieldYates) November 21, 2020
― reggae mike love (polyphonic), Saturday, 21 November 2020 19:11 (five years ago)
mitch "the candyman" kupchak
― lag∞n, Saturday, 21 November 2020 19:12 (five years ago)
i remember gordon hayward’s RFA when he was being courted by cleveland and charlotte but ended up getting stuck in utah... seems like he looked at free agency this year and was like, my chance to play for one of the sorriest franchises in the NBA has finally arrived
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 21 November 2020 19:16 (five years ago)
yeah he signed an offer with charlotte that time too
― lag∞n, Saturday, 21 November 2020 19:17 (five years ago)
tbf at least this time they were offering unreasonably more money than anyone should
― lag∞n, Saturday, 21 November 2020 19:19 (five years ago)
how bad does it have to get before they’re required to change their name back to the bobcats?
― la table sur la table (voodoo chili), Saturday, 21 November 2020 19:30 (five years ago)
lmao that contract is insane
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 21 November 2020 19:32 (five years ago)
waiting for ainge to leak all the bigly deals he almost closed
― micah, Saturday, 21 November 2020 20:53 (five years ago)
also looking forward to signing hayward to the vet min in 2025 when he comes home to the house he bought in fishers where his kids go to school where both his extended families live in the state he grew up in
― micah, Saturday, 21 November 2020 20:58 (five years ago)
is atlanta...good now?
― Heez, Saturday, 21 November 2020 21:02 (five years ago)
Why are you guys acting like Hayward is washed
― Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 21 November 2020 21:02 (five years ago)
i don’t think he’s washed but giving a good but not great player with a concerning injury history $30m a year is bad business
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 21 November 2020 21:44 (five years ago)
even if hayward is good next year and like decent the year after that, what exactly does this accomplish for the hornets? lamelo is going to suck for a while and they have no other talent. it’s just another team shortcutting the rebuild.
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 21 November 2020 22:00 (five years ago)
yeah if hayward can find some health hes an allstar level player but even in that best case scenario im not sure it really makes sense for the hornets
― lag∞n, Saturday, 21 November 2020 22:17 (five years ago)
would have been fine as 2/60
― micah, Saturday, 21 November 2020 22:24 (five years ago)
In retrospect the bucks should have kept John Hammond
― Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 21 November 2020 23:46 (five years ago)
Simply indefensible. pic.twitter.com/58aCb9JYN0— sqr (@squaresense) November 21, 2020
― Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 21 November 2020 23:47 (five years ago)
have the celtics found an nba player to replace hayward yet
― ciderpress, Saturday, 21 November 2020 23:49 (five years ago)
Aaron Nesmith is the guy if he’s healthy
― Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 21 November 2020 23:54 (five years ago)
yeah it's amateur hour in the bucks front office.
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 21 November 2020 23:56 (five years ago)
so is giannis signing that extension still or what
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 22 November 2020 00:43 (five years ago)
so after all this, the bucks traded every draft pick under the sun for jrue holiday, ended up keeping pat c and dante d — both of whom looked unplayable vs miami — and added dj augustin (worse than george hill) and bobby portis (not helping you in the playoffs), and hard capped themselves? am i missing anything?
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 22 November 2020 00:49 (five years ago)
not commenting on oubre as a player but suns getting jae crowder for three years @ the MLE shows why he was expendable to them in order to get cp3. they still have youth on the wing and for the next few years have a player that is cheaper than oubre and not any worse. really insane they didn’t take another wing with their draft pick this year tho, james jones’ drafting is the most unpredictable thing in the NBA rn
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 22 November 2020 00:59 (five years ago)
xp it's not ideal
― call all destroyer, Sunday, 22 November 2020 01:08 (five years ago)
Zion Williamson was born in 2000 and is already the longest tenured member on the New Orleans Pelicans 🤯 pic.twitter.com/1v6uchuUwZ— ClutchPoints (@ClutchPointsApp) November 22, 2020
― Fetchboy, Sunday, 22 November 2020 02:05 (five years ago)
Bogdanovic would have brought everything together, honestly.
― Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 22 November 2020 03:55 (five years ago)
that was a great trade...... too great perhaps
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 22 November 2020 03:57 (five years ago)
Ibaka 2/19 to clips. I think he may fit better than trez and we know he and kawhi are cool
― Spottie, Sunday, 22 November 2020 04:46 (five years ago)
that hollinger excerpt makes some good points and also engages in a lot of speculation
― k3vin k., Sunday, 22 November 2020 05:07 (five years ago)
Fanbo Zeng will look to continue the tradition of international players at Gonzaga, following in the footsteps of Japanese forward Rui Hachimura (No. 9 pick in 2019 NBA Draft) and Lithuanian big man Domantas Sabonis (No. 11 pick in 2016), among many others. https://t.co/bslYxWIdbG— Jonathan Givony (@DraftExpress) November 22, 2020
― k3vin k., Sunday, 22 November 2020 05:26 (five years ago)
so hayward would have taken 4/100 from the pacers but ainge didnt want to make the s/t work
― micah, Sunday, 22 November 2020 11:37 (five years ago)
lol ainge
― discourse stu (m bison), Sunday, 22 November 2020 13:44 (five years ago)
local reporting is that bos/ind never got close on a deal. i think what actually happened is charlotte kool-aid manned in with a wild overpay and hayward took it.
― call all destroyer, Sunday, 22 November 2020 14:07 (five years ago)
the celtics wanted warren, the pacers understandably didn’t want to give him up
― la table sur la table (voodoo chili), Sunday, 22 November 2020 14:29 (five years ago)
i thought gordo was high af for opting out of 34M but the only person smoking something stronger was MJ
