Whatever Bucks ownership promised Giannis in their postseason meeting ... I think they exceeded it.

Swinging trades for a two-way force like Jrue Holiday and a marksman of Bogdan Bogdanovic's caliber before we even get to the draft is league-shaking work from Jon Horst and Co.

why are NBA beat writers like this.........

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 17 November 2020 06:26 (five years ago)

Hey when you're the team who took Bagley over Luka you take small victories wherever you can find em ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Getting anything of value in a S&T for someone who was gonna bolt for nothing is a win. I wonder if this means they've talked Buddy down from adamantly wanting out a bit.

An all of those tweets are just the team's respective GMs/front office leakers using the reporter as a mouthpiece lol; same deal as the Harden ESPN report from yesterday calling Spencer Dinwiddie "An all-star caliber guard". Propaganda to soften the public blow of trading the same # of picks that AD and PG went for for for Jrue Holiday and whatnot.

Woops double post sorry.

Sabre of Paradise (trevor phillips), Tuesday, 17 November 2020 06:31 (five years ago)

Gonna miss Donte but this is a good trade

frogbs, Tuesday, 17 November 2020 06:31 (five years ago)

Here is the roster in Milwaukee and staying under the hard cap:

Holiday (has unlikely bonuses that count)
Middleton
Bogdanovic at $14.65M
Giannis
Lopez
J. James
Thanasis
7 players on minimum contracts

one thing about the bucks trading for not one but two versatile jack of all trades wing types is that it won't compel bud to make them play any differently than they have been.

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 17 November 2020 13:49 (five years ago)

jrue is a destructive defender who will be great for the bucks*

*in the regular season

I just taste for the first time a smothie..MAN GOD BLESS AMERICA😊

lag∞n, Tuesday, 17 November 2020 14:44 (five years ago)

Jrue/bogdan/Middleton on the wing is pretty darn nasty I gotta admit

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 17 November 2020 14:49 (five years ago)

Lonzo and Jrue never made sense to me and this was quite the offer for Jrue.

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 17 November 2020 14:50 (five years ago)

Here is the pick breakdown on the Jrue Holiday trade:

New Orleans receives

2020 1st (via IND)
2024 right to swap
2025 1st unprotected
2026 right to swap
2027 1st unprotected

— Bobby Marks (@BobbyMarks42) November 17, 2020

pels going for the distant picks

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 17 November 2020 15:29 (five years ago)

smart

lag∞n, Tuesday, 17 November 2020 15:30 (five years ago)

If the 2021 pick from portland is heavily protected I think it’s ok. Covington is exactly what they need. Well he’s one of the exact things they need.

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 17 November 2020 15:38 (five years ago)

hes a really good fit and they only gave up a filler player but... i guess draft picks are cheap right now

lag∞n, Tuesday, 17 November 2020 16:18 (five years ago)

with houston rebuilding there might even be a playoff spot for the blazers

lag∞n, Tuesday, 17 November 2020 16:19 (five years ago)

theyll def make the play in game at least lol

lag∞n, Tuesday, 17 November 2020 16:23 (five years ago)

So apparently the thunder’s pick swap with the rockets next year is top 4 protected, which means the Rockets will have to engineer a really special kind of tanking

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 17 November 2020 16:41 (five years ago)

Can they trade harden without getting players back that will win any games?

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 17 November 2020 16:42 (five years ago)

i think you could build an awful team around ben simmons if you needed to, he might not like it tho

lag∞n, Tuesday, 17 November 2020 16:51 (five years ago)

but with the new lottery odds even if you have the worst record you only have a ~50% chance of landing in the top 4, oops lol

lag∞n, Tuesday, 17 November 2020 16:53 (five years ago)

rockets shd prob just kiss that pick goodbye and move on with their lives

lag∞n, Tuesday, 17 November 2020 16:54 (five years ago)

i mean okc prob will miss the offs too so

are they aware that you do have to play more than 5 players?

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 17 November 2020 17:28 (five years ago)

i'm dying @ thanasis being on there

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 17 November 2020 17:28 (five years ago)

guys weve still got thanasis

lag∞n, Tuesday, 17 November 2020 17:31 (five years ago)

yeah that roster is thin as hell...their best 5 will be really good tho

k3vin k., Tuesday, 17 November 2020 17:35 (five years ago)

having only 7 guys might be good for Bud though

frogbs, Tuesday, 17 November 2020 17:43 (five years ago)

they shd get rondo

lag∞n, Tuesday, 17 November 2020 17:51 (five years ago)

the warriors had like 6 or 7 real players the other year

ciderpress, Tuesday, 17 November 2020 17:56 (five years ago)

They have to keep the other Antetokounmpo because the other Lopez opted for free agency

haa

lag∞n, Tuesday, 17 November 2020 18:23 (five years ago)

wow that would be something. players might have to start their own league to get around that issue.

Spottie, Tuesday, 17 November 2020 18:26 (five years ago)

definitely cool if true

the fertita stuff feels like a real stretch to me. if the rockets were set up to be contenders none of them would be trying to break up the team bcuz of the owner’s political donations

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 17 November 2020 19:14 (five years ago)

yeah that roster is thin as hell...their best 5 will be really good tho

in theory until a team in the playoffs plays brook lopez off the floor and they gotta run out... uh.... whoever their sixth man is

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 17 November 2020 19:15 (five years ago)

and that is a little moment we like to call "Thanasis Time"

Guayaquil (eephus!), Tuesday, 17 November 2020 19:20 (five years ago)

xp it's a ric bucher report so it's made up, but still pretty funny to think about

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 17 November 2020 19:24 (five years ago)

i do support any and all news reports that portray tillman fertita as toxic regardless of their accuracy

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 17 November 2020 19:29 (five years ago)

insane if true

Sources around the league believe there is a “verbal agreement” between the Nets and Rockets that would bring James Harden to Brooklyn, and create a superteam with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

That team won't have any drama at all. None.

octobeard, Tuesday, 17 November 2020 20:10 (five years ago)

also the nets cant even put together a half decent offer for harden, are hardens people just telling every other team that hell be a huge bitch if they trade for him

lag∞n, Tuesday, 17 November 2020 20:13 (five years ago)

speaking of having a thin roster. what would they actually have besides those three?

Spottie, Tuesday, 17 November 2020 20:15 (five years ago)

Former first team all nba-er Deandre Jordan and this year's round of vet minimum ring chasers presumably.

it's especially weird if ppl seem to believe that giannis is re-signing... all the 2021 cap hoarders will need to pivot

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 17 November 2020 20:30 (five years ago)

👀

You typically don't see this unless a) something is up, and b) the something involves both the team and the player. https://t.co/NPMcqlW9EX
