it looked like plumlee was calling for grant to switch out onto AD so he could cover a potential lebron cut to the rim. given grant’s positioning that was probably a mistake
― k3vin k., Sunday, September 20, 2020 10:12 PM (two minutes ago) bookmarkflaglink
yeah, i think just chasing AD to the wing would have been easier than executing that switch and had a chance of disrupting the key to the play, which was the extremely easy inbound pass that materialized.
― call all destroyer, Monday, 21 September 2020 02:16 (five years ago)
i think thats considering the context one of the worst defensive plays ive ever seen
― lag∞n, Monday, 21 September 2020 02:18 (five years ago)
pointing at the guy to switch while you just slow down and stop playing isn't the best look
― call all destroyer, Monday, 21 September 2020 02:19 (five years ago)
my friend is standing between lebron and the basket but i want to stand there
― lag∞n, Monday, 21 September 2020 02:20 (five years ago)
lol
i am starting to think that if the nuggets could replace plumlee's salary with an equivalent good player they would be the favorites. it's an insane amount of money for a backup center who also sucks.
― call all destroyer, Monday, 21 September 2020 02:21 (five years ago)
He doesn’t suck he’s a good player who made a terrible decision
― Matt Armstrong, Monday, 21 September 2020 02:23 (five years ago)
Most likely plumlee thought they were switching before anything happened
― Matt Armstrong, Monday, 21 September 2020 02:24 (five years ago)
If you presume a switch what he did makes sense but that is not what occurs
― Matt Armstrong, Monday, 21 September 2020 02:25 (five years ago)
In general this is a Bill Buckner situation and that’s life
someone on twitter saying maybe plum was supposed to switch on a bron screen but when there was no screen he tried to anyway
― lag∞n, Monday, 21 September 2020 02:26 (five years ago)
With all that said they got a 36% look for AD and he just made it
― Matt Armstrong, Monday, 21 September 2020 02:27 (five years ago)
yeah I have come around on plumlee, I think the nuggs are obviously going to let millsap walk and with porter presumably starting at the 4 they probably can’t afford to let plumlee walk too? tbh I haven’t thought about it much
― k3vin k., Monday, 21 September 2020 02:30 (five years ago)
they can keep plumlee if he takes a $10M paycut, his contract is absolutely insane
― call all destroyer, Monday, 21 September 2020 02:32 (five years ago)
Jamal Murray was +16 in 44 minutes and somehow the Nuggets lost the other 4 minutes so badly that they didn't win.— John Hollinger (@johnhollinger) September 21, 2020
― call all destroyer, Monday, 21 September 2020 02:33 (five years ago)
Millsap is essentially retired, plumlee still an elite backup. Probably too expensive tho. I think you gotta pick a PF/C in the first round and hope he and Bol can make do
― Matt Armstrong, Monday, 21 September 2020 02:40 (five years ago)
Btw that was amazing damage control by Jokic on that closeout, great awareness
― Matt Armstrong, Monday, 21 September 2020 02:42 (five years ago)
yeah he covered a ton of ground
― k3vin k., Monday, 21 September 2020 02:44 (five years ago)
yeah he did his absolute best to get back
― call all destroyer, Monday, 21 September 2020 02:44 (five years ago)
I’d be a little concerned about the big depth if plumlee left, given MPJ’s history
― k3vin k., Monday, 21 September 2020 02:45 (five years ago)
have no idea what to think about bol other than I’m excited for some regular season stuff. seems like he has some pretty defensive limitations unless he puts on some weight tho
― k3vin k., Monday, 21 September 2020 02:47 (five years ago)
I think Bol is gonna be an olynyk type, the 15 mpg backup who occasionally takes over a game
― Matt Armstrong, Monday, 21 September 2020 02:58 (five years ago)
But he’s pretty unique, I guess Porzingis is the closest comparison in raw talent
― Matt Armstrong, Monday, 21 September 2020 02:59 (five years ago)
It looks like he really can shoot which makes all kinds of things acceptable (also true of olynyk)
― Matt Armstrong, Monday, 21 September 2020 03:10 (five years ago)
That was sad damn. Ruined a truly awesome big honey final stretch.

A definite upgrade but not inspiring at all

Nuggets are a good team

Donavan hire is a Bulls move very much in character

really enjoying jerami grant as a 4th or 5th starter type of guy
― call all destroyer, Wednesday, 23 September 2020 02:43 (five years ago)
yeah grant has really grown on me. he can do a lot of stuff and he’s a competitor

absolute nightmare start to the 4th starting with that BS call on the davis 3
― k3vin k., Wednesday, 23 September 2020 03:19 (five years ago)
Obv want the lakers to win the series but I’m hoping Denver can withstand this run. I just want more hoops tbh

fun game! glad the Lakers made it interesting
― Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 23 September 2020 03:37 (five years ago)
Nuggets are one game away from being close to contending!
― Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 23 September 2020 03:37 (five years ago)
some very big plays by murray down the stretch kudos to him
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 23 September 2020 03:39 (five years ago)
was it here or on Twitter where someone said Jamal Murray is the Canadian baller Andrew Wiggins was supposed to be?
― Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 23 September 2020 03:46 (five years ago)
There’s some stat that has Jerami Grant as the worst player in the playoffs and I’m pretty sure it’s a broken stat. His defense vs Kawhi was really important. Maybe it’s a function of guarding the other team’s best players?
― Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 23 September 2020 13:32 (five years ago)
Yeah, that doesn't make much sense intuitively
― Nhex, Wednesday, 23 September 2020 13:49 (five years ago)
catch all stats are always a bit shit mate
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 23 September 2020 14:31 (five years ago)
On a recent episode of the Lowe Post they were talking about how the Nuggets were really hurt by Grant's poor rebounding (zeroing in on him, an ostensible power forward, having 0 boards in Game 2 vs the Lakers). ime a lot of catch all stats tend to over-account for rebounds as much as they under-account for defense. So that could explain it.
