To me the only bad outcome is the Lakers winning the title. Every other champ would would be very very cool

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 18 September 2020 16:58 (five years ago)

has anyone done a side-by-side video of the clippers bench reaction to MKG shooting a 3 off the side of the backboard and the paul george’s shot in game 7?

We need this

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 18 September 2020 16:59 (five years ago)

lakers and clips both falling before the finals wld be great IMHO cause theyre both mercenary super teams also IMHO celtics drama isnt anything i mean marcus smart yelling isnt news

lag∞n, Friday, 18 September 2020 17:24 (five years ago)

celtics not being able to play against the zone for two straight series well brad got some splainin to do

lag∞n, Friday, 18 September 2020 17:24 (five years ago)

sorry you cant claim good vibes anymore. sad day for you i know

Spottie, Friday, 18 September 2020 17:25 (five years ago)

vibes are not to be claimed but to be rode --lao tzu

lag∞n, Friday, 18 September 2020 17:30 (five years ago)

heat are taking the ball away from the celts whenever they want to and frankly outplaying them and even so they're only barely winning. i do not think this is over but yeesh they got 30 hours to figure it out.

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Friday, 18 September 2020 17:54 (five years ago)

the heat are playing shockingly good basketball from where they were pre quar

lag∞n, Friday, 18 September 2020 18:03 (five years ago)

we call that shogoball for short

ciderpress, Friday, 18 September 2020 18:11 (five years ago)

would a Denver-Miami final be the worst possible pairing out of the eight remaining teams from the standpoint of the networks?

this is unquestionably true and wholly irrelevant to anyone here on ILH because we love hoops, not ratings. even if it meant a smaller network contract next time around, that only would affect salaries and profits, not the quality of play.

the unappreciated charisma of cows (Aimless), Friday, 18 September 2020 18:29 (five years ago)

is miami that small a market for bball still? compared to like philly or w/e

ciderpress, Friday, 18 September 2020 18:35 (five years ago)

I would be personally be pretty psyched about that final and pretty excited to see how it played out! but i don't think your average person could name two (maybe even one?) player from either team

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Friday, 18 September 2020 18:41 (five years ago)

yeah, exactly. does Joe America know the Joker or Jimmy Butler? Probably not. them's the breaks, NBA billionaire owners!

Nhex, Friday, 18 September 2020 18:46 (five years ago)

prob wld be the worst series from a general interest pov since spurs pistons

I kind of get that, aimless, which is why I added "No reflection on the two teams--Miami/Denver would be an exciting series, I'm sure."

clemenza, Friday, 18 September 2020 18:57 (five years ago)

def one of the better series from an interesting teams perspective

lag∞n, Friday, 18 September 2020 18:58 (five years ago)

I just find the possibility of Miami/Denver amusing, knowing how badly the networks wanted L.A. (either) vs. the Celtics--happens all the time in baseball. I'm becoming interested in Jamal Murray--Kitchener's sort of down the road from me.

clemenza, Friday, 18 September 2020 19:02 (five years ago)

if people don't know jokic or jimmy butler they probably don't know kemba walker or jayson tatum either. or anyone besides lebron

ciderpress, Friday, 18 September 2020 19:07 (five years ago)

the "casual nba fan" is my favorite strawman

call all destroyer, Friday, 18 September 2020 19:08 (five years ago)

Idk what the nba can do to get ratings and I’m worried about it

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 18 September 2020 20:09 (five years ago)

don't be. poor ratings in the USA will just slow down their plans for world domination and starting expansion teams in Europe and China.

the unappreciated charisma of cows (Aimless), Friday, 18 September 2020 20:30 (five years ago)

they gotta get rid of blackouts, ppl under 30 don't have cable tv and will just watch bootleg streams if there's no convenient alternative

ciderpress, Friday, 18 September 2020 21:29 (five years ago)

ppl under 30 also dont have money though so maybe the solution is to focus on middle aged ppl

ciderpress, Friday, 18 September 2020 21:31 (five years ago)

show commercials for money

lag∞n, Friday, 18 September 2020 21:33 (five years ago)

I know there's been talk about lower ratings and blaming it on matchups or the teams or the BLM stuff but I mean there were a lot of games being played during the day on weekdays and triple headers etc which makes it hard for a lot of people to watch

plus last year the finals I'm assuming Canadian TV doesn't show up in US ratings so it's hard to calculate, I'm sure ratings in Toronto were off the chain

remind me again why I should care about the nba's financials

I have good news you don't have to

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Friday, 18 September 2020 21:51 (five years ago)

I guess I was just more interested in this "too political fans are leaving" storyline that's being puked out everywhere and seems kinda b.s.

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Friday, 18 September 2020 22:00 (five years ago)

celtics not being able to play against the zone for two straight series well brad got some splainin to do

will be interesting to see how the series changes if the celtics win game 3 with the league doing 4 days in between 3 and 4 bcuz of MNF... more room for strategic changes perhaps

J0rdan S., Friday, 18 September 2020 22:12 (five years ago)

xp yeah i dont think thats a real thing

i also dont think the league is in any danger

ciderpress, Friday, 18 September 2020 22:13 (five years ago)

i really can’t bring myself to care about the ratings at all... the players should care bcuz the cap is tied to revenue but as far as fans go, there’s gonna be 30 teams and 82 games for the foreseeable future, and i don’t think the league is going to get any less visible

J0rdan S., Friday, 18 September 2020 23:19 (five years ago)

TV ratings are a measure of popularity that again matters to the league bcuz of how they take in money, but the league remains as culturally relevant as ever imo. i don’t think there’s a problem at all beyond ppl under 35 not paying for cable.

J0rdan S., Friday, 18 September 2020 23:21 (five years ago)

any serious fallout from less sports revenue will show up in mlb well before the nba i'd think

ciderpress, Friday, 18 September 2020 23:32 (five years ago)

Just finished first half. Hadn’t thought about Scott foster all bubble but here we are.

Spottie, Saturday, 19 September 2020 02:43 (five years ago)

jordan otm about ratings, idc either

very resigned about the nuggs

k3vin k., Saturday, 19 September 2020 02:56 (five years ago)

rondoooooooooooooooooo

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Saturday, 19 September 2020 03:00 (five years ago)

Rondo and Dwight being good is weird.

That rondo runner from behind the backboard lol

Spottie, Saturday, 19 September 2020 03:18 (five years ago)

Weird game overall interested to see what Malone can come up with

Spottie, Saturday, 19 September 2020 03:21 (five years ago)

This might be my least favorite lakers team of all the lakers teams I’ve hated. Sorry carne

Spottie, Saturday, 19 September 2020 03:33 (five years ago)

lol it’s a weird team! I gotta say I’m happy for Howard of all people.

The laker defense really is elite and that’s something to admire I guess

(•̪●) (carne asada), Saturday, 19 September 2020 03:43 (five years ago)

i think if we've learned anything it's that vogel is a very good defensive coach

call all destroyer, Saturday, 19 September 2020 03:46 (five years ago)

Not sure the nuggets can handle being down 1-0

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 19 September 2020 03:50 (five years ago)

Coach Cal has to be grinning ear to ear, probably does most of the time anyway, seeing that this final four quartet of clubs is full of ex UK guys he coached.

Everyone could see that AD was going to be amazing, but Herro, Bam, Murray all were good but not the GUY on their teams at all in Lexington.

earlnash, Saturday, 19 September 2020 11:46 (five years ago)

Some of those fouls calls on Jokic were no bueno

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 19 September 2020 12:57 (five years ago)

24 fouls on denver in one quarter... yeah

micah, Saturday, 19 September 2020 13:41 (five years ago)

Big difference in how Zubac was officiated and how Dwight was officiated. Honestly pretty sketch

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 19 September 2020 14:13 (five years ago)

ciderpress, Saturday, 19 September 2020 14:34 (five years ago)
