yeah the idea of the big moment is so central to sports mythology but prob doesnt matter that much to actual playing sports

there are such things as nba players who noticeably do not want the ball in a clutch situation and make a pass when they should take the open shot, but the self-confidence level of nba players is pretty damned high in general, so such players are few.

yeah and those guys are mostly like... jeff green, so it doesnt really matter

oh yeah i guess im willing to believe the hot hand exists in the sense that like, if a player has their shooting mechanics particularly on form then thats probably repeatable over a stretch, but its not related to clutch game situations

I got an 8, better than I expected.

I've been paying attention to basketball my whole life and I have never heard the term "tag and cleanse" - I get the idea of "cleansing" (stepping out of the lane, I guess) to avoid the 3 second call, but tagging? Does simply touching an offensive player reset a defensive player's time in the lane?

I clicked the link with that one but I don't subscribe to the Athletic.

yeah it resets - defensive 3 seconds only applies if youre not closely guarding a player
