Lakers also had future Timberwolf great Kurt Rambis.

my personal experience with west coast boston sports guys is that none of them are from boston, they've all been to boston exactly one time, and they constantly swear that when things shape up for them they're gonna make the big move to boston. they were pats jerseys on sundays and sox hats always and usually hate basketball entirely for unspeakably mysterious reasons. sometimes when they drink they come out with a terrible fake boston accent. it's all just the most unlikable dogshit milieu
that said i like this celtics squad a lot and they're probably my rooting favorite team in the playoffs atm? they have "it"
― Clay, Wednesday, 2 September 2020 22:29 (five years ago)
the pats tho can and will rot in hell i think this is quite obvious and does not need to be discussed further in polite company
― Clay, Wednesday, 2 September 2020 22:30 (five years ago)
i would refuse to believe there are real living bostophiles except i did meet one in colorado, just unfathomable to me
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 2 September 2020 22:41 (five years ago)

― lag∞n, Wednesday, 2 September 2020 22:43 (five years ago)
i guess as an avatar for racism its like... upscale, for people who the confederate flag is too crass, someone should tell them you dont have to go anywhere to find racism just look around learn to appreciate what you have
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 2 September 2020 22:45 (five years ago)
the few guys i am talking about also refer to themselves as being "oldschool" about everything in a manner very similar to sopranos guys i really very much do not like them
― Clay, Wednesday, 2 September 2020 22:46 (five years ago)
they sound like real *in a boston accent* charmers
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 2 September 2020 22:47 (five years ago)
its pretty funny that boston via afflecks has this reputation as a gritty old school white guy city i mean theres def that but its also the most educated and one of the richest cities in the country imo the most accurate filmic depiction of the city was spotlight
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 2 September 2020 22:51 (five years ago)
tbrr the key reason I hate the Celtics is that my friend’s dad was from Boston and was a fan and one day in hs he was like “you guys wanna play a game of Risk?” in his strong Boston accent and he was wearing a Bird jersey and we played and he brutalized us like we were hapless babies and I have hated the celtics ever since this is my truth

Incredible, I feel like I was there.
This reminds of two (older) brothers who lived across the street from me when I was age 4-10 and I went over to their house to play monopoly one time and saw a couple of small white rings on their monopoly board where the board surface had come up and I asked them, "what's that?", and the older brother told me that when the younger brother would go to the bathroom in the middle of a game the older brother would superglue down the younger's top hat or thimble token which had to then be pried off the board.
I love Boston the city.
― James Gandolfini the Grey (PBKR), Wednesday, 2 September 2020 22:55 (five years ago)
and fwiw the city of boston is majority non white tho iirc if you take the metro area its still pretty white tho not nearly to the extent that say portland is, culturally its def pretty segregated and feels dominated by various whiteness (the different ethnic whites + the wasps), thats one thing i missed living away from the east coast, in the rest of the country white people are mostly just like generic white people like on tv commercials, but in the ne youve got a bunch of particular type of whites which is more interesting
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 2 September 2020 22:56 (five years ago)
I remember growing up and older people would tell me they had picked a side on the 80s Celtics vs lakers rivalry and I was always confused by why a person from Texas wouldn’t just enjoy both teams
― Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 2 September 2020 23:18 (five years ago)
the rivalry that tore a nation apart
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 2 September 2020 23:20 (five years ago)
well, well did they prefer "tough, lunch pail guys who lace em up" or "flashy hot shots"?

him taking dragic and herro off the dribble has been better offense than giannis bulldozing his way into 4 guys and falling over

https://sports.yahoo.com/earth-group-economics-164455260.html
In 2014, as they neared a vote on who would be the next executive director of their union, dozens of NBA player representatives and members of the executive committee convened at Aria in Las Vegas to interview a few finalists. David West attended in an advisory role, and his main focus was to question the candidates on one issue: What do you think about Group Economics?
― reggae mike love (polyphonic), Thursday, 3 September 2020 00:14 (five years ago)
clay's description of boston sports fans who are not from boston and aspire to go to boston is so utterly foreign to me. like dude you might was well be telling me about the sentient chlorine-breathing tenticled alien detroit pistons fans you run into now and then.

my theory is boondock saints really got in the heads of certain people who saw it at just the wrong time in their lives

boondock saints is prob the biggest red flag in the world
― lag∞n, Thursday, 3 September 2020 00:54 (five years ago)
even given his obvious limitations, it's crazy how many teams passed on herro knowing the way the game is currently played. his shot is just deadly

Bucks killin it in 5th Chance points

How the fuck does a championship team turn it over on 3 straight possessions in crunch time
― frogbs, Thursday, 3 September 2020 01:08 (five years ago)
i've never seen boondock saints, it's probably too late for me to even do it ironically

There’s no way butler got that pass off before stepping out of bounds, second time in two nights they’ve blown that call
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 3 September 2020 01:29 (five years ago)

― ciderpress, Thursday, 3 September 2020 01:32 (five years ago)
pretty much the textbook definition of tight three defense that is not a foul
― Clay, Thursday, 3 September 2020 01:32 (five years ago)
I actually think that call is ok
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 3 September 2020 01:32 (five years ago)
Damn this game was over
― (•̪●) (carne asada), Thursday, 3 September 2020 01:32 (five years ago)
