There was probably stuff in Bennett’s personal life, he showed up out of shape. The jumper came back in the g league so it was probably a work ethic/off court issues thing

RIP the Process

distrust the process

methinks dababy doth bop shit too much (m bison), Sunday, 23 August 2020 19:46 (five years ago)

i think it's been documented since then that work ethic was bennett's biggest problem from the day he got in the building

call all destroyer, Sunday, 23 August 2020 19:46 (five years ago)

More like amateurcess am I right

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Sunday, 23 August 2020 19:47 (five years ago)

Bennett was a wtf pick right from the beginning. He was gonna be a lottery pick no matter what but if he had been drafted at his projected spot of somewhere 5-10, he'd be just a regular bust. That is totally on the Cavs

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Sunday, 23 August 2020 19:57 (five years ago)

hey now

xp

Fultz on the other hand does feel more impossible to predict. While I don't doubt that some kind of psychological vulnerability correlates among pro athletes who get the yips, it doesn't seem like one that teams are able to detect with enough confidence to factor in to their, uh, process. However, it definitely leaves a poor impression of the Sixers org when you consider the context of the Celtics being fine to trade down (despite the pundits hailing Fultz as a strong #1 who was a clear tier above everyone else), the Sixers being confident enough to trade up, and what has ultimately happened with Tatum. That's before even considering the possibility that Fultz wouldn't have forgotten how to shoot in an organization that was better able to meet his player development needs

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Sunday, 23 August 2020 20:02 (five years ago)

Doris and Mark Jones were really rubbing some grade-A salt in the Sixers' wounds at the end there, pointing out how Butler is looking in Miami, what a great fit Redick was when he was there to compensate for the awkward Embiid/Simmons fit, etc. Just in general they've made one bad decision after another of late, with the overzealous signing of Horford at the top of the pile. "If we snap up the Embiid stopper, then Embiid will be unstoppable!" Didn't work out that way, huh Elton Brand

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Sunday, 23 August 2020 20:07 (five years ago)

ideally sixers should give up on embiid and build the simmons + shooters team but easier said than done

ciderpress, Sunday, 23 August 2020 20:13 (five years ago)

I think that's where I am at now, though really trade whichever one you think will get you the most and build around the other.

trunk's full of pearl and lonestar (PBKR), Sunday, 23 August 2020 20:17 (five years ago)

i just think what we've seen from embiid is his max whereas simmons could be better on the right team

ciderpress, Sunday, 23 August 2020 20:24 (five years ago)

Yeah I think Embiid would look better on a loaded team where he didn’t have to be the #1 option and his conditioning therefore wouldn’t be such an issue, but he’d still be the same player. Simmons, though, feels like one of the hardest players in the league to predict where his game is going in the next 5 years, assuming he’s able to work in an environment, be it Philly or elsewhere, that can think creatively about how to maximize his talents.

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Sunday, 23 August 2020 20:31 (five years ago)

joel def didnt help his trade value with this series tho im sure theres still plenty teams who think they could get through to him, blockbusters are always tough to put together tho gotta find a team that can give u a lot and still have enough left to make it worthwhile

lag∞n, Sunday, 23 August 2020 20:32 (five years ago)

clippers cld put something together for simmons mb

lag∞n, Sunday, 23 August 2020 20:35 (five years ago)

Tough to find a fit for him too. Washington would probably do it for Beal? That would not end well for Washington.

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Sunday, 23 August 2020 20:35 (five years ago)

Talkin Embiid not Simmons there

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Sunday, 23 August 2020 20:36 (five years ago)

Embiid is not near his max, he does weird dumb shit all the time that a coach he respects wouldn’t allow

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 23 August 2020 20:37 (five years ago)

ooh wizards are the perfect place for joel to go to die rip

lag∞n, Sunday, 23 August 2020 20:37 (five years ago)

think the sixers will almost def fire brown and maybe brand then try to entice someone to take horf were prob another disappointing season away from them even thinking abt trading one of their big 2 BUT who knows either of those guys cld be ready to force their hands

lag∞n, Sunday, 23 August 2020 20:43 (five years ago)

u know what wld be interesting horf for wig dawg

Ha I had the exact same thought. I mean Joel’s flaws would be most concealed there! Probably a good trade for both sides

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Sunday, 23 August 2020 21:16 (five years ago)

Just not for the National Basketball League

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Sunday, 23 August 2020 21:16 (five years ago)

joel and draymond seems like a combustible situation

Clay, Sunday, 23 August 2020 21:21 (five years ago)

dray wld hate him so much

lag∞n, Sunday, 23 August 2020 21:22 (five years ago)

True wasn’t thinking about Dray, just the Splash Bros. Then again they won titles with Javale McGee

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Sunday, 23 August 2020 21:26 (five years ago)

bennett was a bizarre pick from the jump no doubt but there were no right answers in that draft. oladipo would be the clear no 1 in a re-draft now but seeing as he didn’t pop until his third team i’m not sure you could say the cavs missed out on a lot. the sixers stared at one bust and one perennial all NBA and mvp candidate and made the wrong pick.

J0rdan S., Sunday, 23 August 2020 21:27 (five years ago)

yeah that was a weak draft as far as the agreed upon top prospects, of course giannis went 15th and gobert 27

lag∞n, Sunday, 23 August 2020 21:30 (five years ago)

There were like 7 guys in the mix for the number one pick and the cavs picked one of them. People just didn’t watch UNLV games so it seemed shocking

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 23 August 2020 21:31 (five years ago)

javale isn't a pouty screwball lockerroom nightmare who demands touches all the time tho, he's just a clumsy but fun and friendly fella xps

Really didn’t expect “Boban owns Trez” to be a narrative in this series

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 23 August 2020 21:34 (five years ago)

luka is having a huge game

k3vin k., Sunday, 23 August 2020 21:37 (five years ago)

Luka CP3 and maybe Nash only players I've seen who figured out nba defenses and play them like a fiddle. Of the 3 he's the most fun to watch. CP3 is uh hard to root for and Nash just didn't have the size to score like Luka can.

big test for luka in these last 5 mins. clips gaining some momentum

k3vin k., Sunday, 23 August 2020 22:04 (five years ago)

he’s only taken 6 (now 7) threes this game and this is the part of the game he tends to over-rely on his stepback

k3vin k., Sunday, 23 August 2020 22:05 (five years ago)

that reggie jackson save was heroic

Clay, Sunday, 23 August 2020 22:08 (five years ago)

weak shot

lag∞n, Sunday, 23 August 2020 22:16 (five years ago)

can’t believe the mavs are in these games with maxi klieba getting roasted by kawhi on like every possession. PG has been so bad
