Golf is proceeding but every golfer is a republican so it’s probably easier to convince them that germs aren’t real

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 25 June 2020 20:01 (five years ago)

golf can be very socially distanced if you want it to be, no shared equipment either.

Rik Waller-Bridge (jim in vancouver), Thursday, 25 June 2020 20:04 (five years ago)

and the crowds dont really matter much

Spottie, Thursday, 25 June 2020 20:09 (five years ago)

In addition, social media networks will be monitored by Walt Disney Security, NBA Global Security and the Department of Homeland Security for potential threats, and will share intelligence. https://t.co/FuZhXVLzJd

Can't wait for Adam Silver to spin how sincerely he supports players efforts to simultaneously play and protest/speak out about the pressing issue of police brutality and corruption and racism in militarized US law enforcement agencies... as he conscripts everyone from local Florida mall cops to apparently even Delta Force commandos to keep them locked in Disney World with no reprieve like it's Escape from New York. While the DHS is personally tracking and monitoring every single thing they post to social media while they're stuck there. Wonderful optics all around lmao

Do people think the NBPA was unaware (or did not sign off) on the security measures league was planning to take for this bubble?

semper sports

ciderpress, Friday, 26 June 2020 20:02 (five years ago)

It's hard to blame the NBA for trying to restart when states everywhere are reopening willy-nilly in spite of the obvious dangers to their populations, ensuring that hundreds of thousands more Americans will die. The public wants sports, there is money to be made, and they'll be damned if they are going to stand outside the zeitgeist.

Kemba Walker does not seem concerned at all by the circumstances surrounding the bubble. He says being single with no kids and a homebody in general, he personally is fine with the setup in Orlando

25 total positive tests so far out of 351 players since testing began
10 positives out of 884 team employees

seems like overkill but ok

The NBA had teams send their actual courts to Orlando and is installing them to use as practice spaces.
