between kyrie’s comments recently and now this it seems like the nets are just intent on becoming a star driven franchise... feel like they’re gonna hire a ty lue like coach now. and even with all that heading into next year they still look like the 6th or 7th best team in the east.

i guess that's the only way to make sense of this:

Sean Marks and Atkinson had several conversations and the sense had been that a change was inevitable and both sides decided that there was no sense waiting on it. Both had felt that Atkinson and Nets had run course together. They have maintained a close relationship.

either they didn't think atkinson could coach a kd/kyrie team next year or he made it clear he had no desire to do so

the nets making a bunch of savvy moves to speed up their recovery from the awful kg/pierce trade and then taking a hard left turn into trying to brute force a good team again is kinda sad

agreed. getting credit for building a respectable program and then revealing that it was all a front to get stars to a big market.

Stephen A. Smith says he doesn’t “believe” the Nets organization believes in Kenny Atkinson.

That’s very irresponsible speculation if that’s not directly sourced.

He says the Nets coach will be whoever KD wants to be the coach.
