tim duncan has a history of endorsing shitty ppl. a few years ago he publicly endorsed the city's DA who had made a bizarre anti-vax video and also said islamophobic shit, but duncan was like "vote for him, he's my friend." the whole of his endorsement was "bloomberg donated to VI after the hurricane." his criteria is "do i know them" and "are they nice to me"

Most professional athletes have lived very strange lives and are not especially reliable guides to real life situations, if you are not now and have never been a professional athlete yourself.
