2019-20 NBA Regular Degular Season thread

lol at the rockets going on a 4 game winning streak w/o capela and deciding to just say fuck it, its gonna suck for whoever has to pick up the pieces there

capela has sucked this year tho guess he has really been healthy got the sore foot

one of the ways i can talk myself into this for the rockets is if he really just isn't going to be healthy this year. doesn't matter at all to atlanta.

curious about the cause and effect here:

Clint Capela didn't have the same value to the Rockets anymore since they don't set as many on-ball screens.

The Rockets ranked 7th in plays finished using pick-and-roll in 2016-17, per @SynergySST. It's been a steady decline since then:

2017-18: 9th
2018-19: 23rd
2019-20: 30th

capela ruled in NBA2K19 so I like this trade for the hawks

capela is good excellent fit for atl too

I like the theory that denver did this just because they’re sick of matching up with Capela

Because if something doesn't happen, they basically traded RoCo on a good contract for a protected first round pick

not really sure I get this deal for denver other than getting capela out of the conference

i guess it's just clear they did not intend to keep those guys and consolidated them to get a decent first rather than bad firsts or seconds.

seems like they basically replaced the draft capital they lost in the grant trade for 2 guys they weren't going to keep

yah get something for their 10th/11th guys they didnt really want to keep anyway. i like it. and now they have another asset to add to the pile for Jrue or whatever.

mb a little weirdness with collins but they cn try to stagger their minutes and collins can shoot more when they play together shd be ok

wonder if we might see harden on a new team by this time next year

Why 4-team trade may get bigger: Not enough time to complete a follow-up trade since physicals etc. won't be completed til after deadline. So have to stuff any business with newly acquired players/picks/exceptions into this deal.

yah. ive got one cousin whos a senior at M1llenium they made it to the state championship game last year and lost in the final game. Whole team is back tho so they should win. DaR0n H0lmes is their best player hes a junior and should be able to pick any d1 school he wants. they played sierra canyon (bron and wades kids school) a couple months back i got to see that. they were in it until the end.

my cuz is #3 cutter good hustler and on ball defender. no offers but i think he could walk on at a low end d1 school or mid major

my other cousin played at the same school graduated two years back and now plays for Nevada (#42). His little bro plays for Hillcrest prep so i see some of their games, he's not playing tho still too young and developing but he'll be at least 6'9"

yah its been fun following them over the last handful of years.

only hs game I've seen in AZ was Sedona vs Chino Valley. they looked and played like middle schoolers.

HS ball is still so bad. Even the good teams are hard to watch for much of the game. Went to a game last week that they won by 70 points.

Not having a shot clock is a complete joke. So many kids lacking basic fundamentals. Lotta meatheads that are better at football but play hoops to stay in shape, athletic but absolutely no finesse. lotta hoisting.

I was pretty impressed by games I saw in IL, but that was some top tier talent. Specifically sought out the best players/teams. Saw Jabari as a sophmore lose to F Kaminsky in a tourney at UIC pavilion.

Nice. The AAU games are better than the high school games. Ive gone to a few of those but theres rarely a place to sit and the atmosphere is weird energy.

The Jabari (Simeon) vs Kaminsky (Benet Xian Academy) was proof of the value of being well-coached. Simeon wayyyy more talented but Benet wayyyy better coached. Benet just fundamentaled them to death.
