What an interesting trade this turned out to be. I think I like Houston’s side the least

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 5 February 2020 05:27 (six years ago)

bam is a top 30 player

ciderpress, Wednesday, 5 February 2020 05:33 (six years ago)

the 4 team trade happened it seems

Clay, Wednesday, 5 February 2020 05:35 (six years ago)

ESPN Sources: 4-team trade agreement: Houston: Robert Covington; Atlanta: Clint Capela and Nene; Minnesota: Malik Beasley, Juancho Hernangomez, Evan Turner, ATL 1st round pick via Nets; Denver: Gerald Green, Houston FRP.

I love capella for the hawks

Thybulle on the Dash (Spottie), Wednesday, 5 February 2020 05:37 (six years ago)

So who’s playing center for the rockets?

Thybulle on the Dash (Spottie), Wednesday, 5 February 2020 05:48 (six years ago)

d'antoni said the other day they're willing to roll w/ their 6' 6" and under line up... i'm sure they'll find some vet at some point

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 5 February 2020 05:57 (six years ago)

― Thybulle on the Dash (Spottie), Wednesday, February 5, 2020 12:37 AM (nineteen minutes ago)

i haven't loved this front office's moves and them trading for and then extending drummond would've been a job killing disaster, but i can't find much fault in this move

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 5 February 2020 05:58 (six years ago)

― Thybulle on the Dash (Spottie), Wednesday, February 5, 2020 12:48 AM (nine minutes ago)

i also sort of feel like d'antoni and morey know they're not long for that franchise and are willing to push the pedal to the metal on small ball and threes

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 5 February 2020 05:59 (six years ago)

if somehow this works out they will both look like geniuses if it fails they're prob not gonna be there next year one way or another

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 5 February 2020 06:00 (six years ago)

true, could always go super whacky and play russ at the 5 or some nonsense

Thybulle on the Dash (Spottie), Wednesday, 5 February 2020 06:04 (six years ago)

apparently they have the corpse of tyson chandler on that roster i guess he could play 5 minutes a game

Thybulle on the Dash (Spottie), Wednesday, 5 February 2020 06:06 (six years ago)

So Denver fortifies its bench with G Shabazz Napier and F Noah Vonleh with losses of Beasley and Hernangomez. Denver will be active until Thursday's deadline at 3 PM ET.

— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) February 5, 2020

fortifies?

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 5 February 2020 06:17 (six years ago)

woj is weird

Thybulle on the Dash (Spottie), Wednesday, 5 February 2020 06:19 (six years ago)

jordan bell is going to houston in all this. i could say dan tony letting that guy free to run around and hunt blocks like a mad man

Thybulle on the Dash (Spottie), Wednesday, 5 February 2020 06:20 (six years ago)

man this is so huge for the hawks i think. they are basically the worst rebounding team in the league this fit just makes so much sense. trae capella connection should be really solid really fast

Thybulle on the Dash (Spottie), Wednesday, 5 February 2020 06:22 (six years ago)

feel like capela and collins are too similar in body type/defensive skillset to make sense longterm but just accepting capela for a mid first round pick bcuz the rockets are spazzing out is def the kind of thing they should be doing

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 5 February 2020 06:28 (six years ago)

collins is a bad defender i thought.

Thybulle on the Dash (Spottie), Wednesday, 5 February 2020 06:30 (six years ago)

what does this do for denver? i assume the pick will move?

micah, Wednesday, 5 February 2020 06:31 (six years ago)

yah all they did was secure a pick. they likely have some more moves coming

The Atlanta/Denver/Houston/Minnesota trade -- 12 players -- is the biggest NBA deal since the Knicks moved Patrick Ewing to Seattle in 2000, according to ESPN's @BobbyMarks42.

— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) February 5, 2020

sweet

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 5 February 2020 06:39 (six years ago)

juancho and beasley were gonna be FAs also

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 5 February 2020 06:40 (six years ago)

Hope this means Wiggins stays out of the bay.

Fetchboy, Wednesday, 5 February 2020 06:45 (six years ago)

we survived the day

Thybulle on the Dash (Spottie), Wednesday, 5 February 2020 06:47 (six years ago)

oh man i love this for the hawks. schlenk has been sitting on picks year after year finally coaxed someone in to giving him good value for what would have been at best a late lotto pick in a weak draft year. i know very little about Capela other than that he's efficient, a good defender and not terrible on offense. he should fit nicely next to Collins

Heez, Wednesday, 5 February 2020 07:20 (six years ago)

juancho and beasley were gonna be FAs also

― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 5 February 2020 5:40 PM

that doesnt rationalise trading depth for less depth when the nuggets have a chance at the title

micah, Wednesday, 5 February 2020 11:05 (six years ago)

the big trade

The only depth they’re really losing here is Beasley, who hasn’t really been playing well this season and was out of the rotation at times. Juancho is probably about as good as KBD and Vanderbilt has been disappointing.

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 5 February 2020 14:23 (six years ago)

Nuggets definitely want to make another deal but what the hell would it be? Pelicans seem happy to keep Jrue.

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 5 February 2020 14:26 (six years ago)

cheers to atlanta jeers to houston

lag∞n, Wednesday, 5 February 2020 14:45 (six years ago)

I don't really know what the Wolves are doing here but I never really do.

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 5 February 2020 15:18 (six years ago)

Because if something doesn't happen, they basically traded RoCo on a good contract for a protected first round pick

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 5 February 2020 15:19 (six years ago)

i don't hate them getting the denver RFAs

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 5 February 2020 15:28 (six years ago)

congrats everyone on a 4 way trade tho good stuff

lag∞n, Wednesday, 5 February 2020 15:29 (six years ago)

lacking in star power but not without dece players

lag∞n, Wednesday, 5 February 2020 15:29 (six years ago)

lol at the rockets going on a 4 game winning streak w/o capela and deciding to just say fuck it, its gonna suck for whoever has to pick up the pieces there

lag∞n, Wednesday, 5 February 2020 15:30 (six years ago)

capela has sucked this year tho guess he has really been healthy got the sore foot

lag∞n, Wednesday, 5 February 2020 15:31 (six years ago)

one of the ways i can talk myself into this for the rockets is if he really just isn't going to be healthy this year. doesn't matter at all to atlanta.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 5 February 2020 15:34 (six years ago)

curious about the cause and effect here:

Clint Capela didn't have the same value to the Rockets anymore since they don't set as many on-ball screens.

The Rockets ranked 7th in plays finished using pick-and-roll in 2016-17, per @SynergySST. It's been a steady decline since then:

2017-18: 9th
2018-19: 23rd
2019-20: 30th

capela ruled in NBA2K19 so I like this trade for the hawks

juntos pedemos (Euler), Wednesday, 5 February 2020 15:35 (six years ago)

capela is good excellent fit for atl too

lag∞n, Wednesday, 5 February 2020 15:57 (six years ago)

I like the theory that denver did this just because they’re sick of matching up with Capela

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 5 February 2020 16:05 (six years ago)

Because if something doesn't happen, they basically traded RoCo on a good contract for a protected first round pick

They’ve gotta sign Beasley for the trade to make sense and he’s probably gonna get a huge deal considering how much FA money is out there

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 5 February 2020 16:08 (six years ago)

My girlfriend is upset because Beasley was the hottest guy on the team in her opinion

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 5 February 2020 16:09 (six years ago)

lol
