k3vin k., Friday, 17 January 2020 23:43 (six years ago)

if you're in the thread, keep on posting (Sufjan Grafton), Friday, 17 January 2020 23:51 (six years ago)

lag∞n, Friday, 17 January 2020 23:54 (six years ago)

i do it cos all the good ocntent is on there but i dont enjoy it. i listen at 1.25X speed so i can get through it quick and speed up the pod voice cadences

the only two pods i got into were on the same long drive the one abt the manson family and the one about buddy cianci they were both excellent

lag∞n, Friday, 17 January 2020 23:57 (six years ago)

I'd like to go back to the 2001 version of me and say "in 2020, Simmons will *still* be talking about Rounders"

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Saturday, 18 January 2020 00:29 (six years ago)

lmao

lag∞n, Saturday, 18 January 2020 00:30 (six years ago)

Totally agree w p much all the negative criticisms but dude knows nba past and present. Generally find it worthwhile to put up with his grating qualities to get that sweet gooey bball knowledge.

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Saturday, 18 January 2020 01:54 (six years ago)

That said I feel like he has same problem I have with most sports talk: too much "insider baseball shit", salary and trade talk, and not enough about strategy and personalities and scouting. Which is why you I've been gravitating to the ex or current player-run podcasts

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Saturday, 18 January 2020 01:57 (six years ago)

yeah cld see that

lag∞n, Saturday, 18 January 2020 01:58 (six years ago)

man but how else will you know if bill's college roommate ate a good brunch last weekend?

if you're in the thread, keep on posting (Sufjan Grafton), Saturday, 18 January 2020 02:02 (six years ago)

i support anyone getting a good brunch so kudos to him

lag∞n, Saturday, 18 January 2020 02:06 (six years ago)

classic lag∞n

mookieproof, Saturday, 18 January 2020 02:09 (six years ago)

gotta be me!

lag∞n, Saturday, 18 January 2020 02:10 (six years ago)

To me, the insider stuff is the only reason to listen to him on basketball. If he tries to talk strategy or scouting, I'm fastforwarding to the brunch talk.

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Saturday, 18 January 2020 02:14 (six years ago)

Well there's insider stuff from player perspective which I love a ton. And there's insider stuff from a beat reporter type perspective or about the league as a business, which I could not care less about. Different strokes tho obv. Seems like most sports fans eat that stuff up.

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Saturday, 18 January 2020 02:19 (six years ago)

By insider stuff I mean more like "Delonte West fucked Lebron's mom"

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Saturday, 18 January 2020 02:26 (six years ago)

loool

lag∞n, Saturday, 18 January 2020 02:30 (six years ago)

Lol. Ya I don't care about the soap opera stuff

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Saturday, 18 January 2020 02:55 (six years ago)

there are plenty of things to get on bill about, but it's pretty darn impressive what he's built from scratch in barely five years.

call all destroyer, Saturday, 18 January 2020 03:32 (six years ago)

can someone briefly explain how podcasts make money (i really have no idea). are people paying to subscribe?

mookieproof, Saturday, 18 January 2020 03:35 (six years ago)

in-pod ads are v common

Clay, Saturday, 18 January 2020 03:38 (six years ago)

ok, thanks

lol advertisers

mookieproof, Saturday, 18 January 2020 03:40 (six years ago)

squarespace, stamps dot com, and leesa mattress. Most have also begun to ask siri or google questions during the cast in the form of a really shit disguised ad.

if you're in the thread, keep on posting (Sufjan Grafton), Saturday, 18 January 2020 03:44 (six years ago)

lag∞n, Saturday, 18 January 2020 03:45 (six years ago)

chapo pulling down a cool $150k a month on patreon https://www.patreon.com/chapotraphouse

lag∞n, Saturday, 18 January 2020 03:46 (six years ago)

i was stunned when i looked into pod advertising rates; given the low overhead you can make a *lot* of money if you have the audience

call all destroyer, Saturday, 18 January 2020 03:49 (six years ago)

just talk into the mic baby!

lag∞n, Saturday, 18 January 2020 05:47 (six years ago)

I back only one podcast patreon, for now.

Swilling Ambergris, Esq. (silby), Saturday, 18 January 2020 05:50 (six years ago)

who is it

lag∞n, Saturday, 18 January 2020 05:52 (six years ago)

if i listened to podcasts, or honestly deeply cared about the NBA, i would absolutely pay like a dollar a month to hear lag∞n and k3vin talk about hoops -- except that i get a dollar back every time the celtics are mentioned

mookieproof, Saturday, 18 January 2020 06:07 (six years ago)

what kevin just gets to talk abt whatever he wants and im oppressed over here

lag∞n, Saturday, 18 January 2020 06:10 (six years ago)

u want a podcast abt nikola jokic is that what you want

lag∞n, Saturday, 18 January 2020 06:12 (six years ago)

mookieproof, Saturday, 18 January 2020 06:13 (six years ago)

lag∞n, Saturday, 18 January 2020 06:13 (six years ago)

lag∞n, Saturday, 18 January 2020 20:33 (six years ago)

As obnoxious as this guy can be I do respect him for punting his ESPN job because he wouldn’t recant his criticism of Goodell

frogbs, Saturday, 18 January 2020 20:39 (six years ago)
