a good trade for the jazz i think. they need anyone that can even pretend to score and clarkson can do that. if he can hover at league avg from 3 on 5-6 attempts that will help the jazz a ton.

I really don’t pay much attention to the pistons so what’s the consensus on Drummond? Gonna be worth his eventual max deal?

his skillset is insane but his motor is highly suspect.

he's actually added a bunch of stuff to his game but unfortunately he has never been the type of defender and rim protector that you would want.

giving drummond a bunch of money would make me a bit ill if i was a hawks fan

hes really good at steals. over 1.5/1.5 steals/blocks last year and pushing close to 2/2 this year. just raw stats tho i have no idea what opponents fg% around the rim with him around tho

i'm sure they see him as a good fit as a veteran big who ostensibly plays defense but i don't see the point of giving $20m+ per year or whatever to a ground bound non shooting center in today's NBA. there has to be better use of their money.

his best drpm ranking among centers in the past 4 years is this year in progress, where he is.....15th. a defense with trae in front and drummond in back isn't going to be good enough to do much of anything.

i don't think the question with drummond is whether he's a positive or negative on the court.... it's more how much money you want to pay him to be on your team

they also had this stretch before they stupidly traded for blake griffin where they were running the offense through him a bunch and he was pretty adept at playmaking. wonder if he could do more in a bigger offensive role like what they are doing with bam this year in miami. pretty crazy he was able to get his FT% from like 35% to around 60% the last couple years, that should be praised more.

if you could get him for ~25 per year thats a steal but i reckon he'll fetch max money from someone.

i feel like ppl really gloss over the fact that their GM is an ex-NBA power forward with minimal front office experience. maybe him fucking up by spending the team's money on a center when he already has the best center in the NBA shouldn't be a huge surprise.

i think there was a theory of it where it could have worked but it sure hasn't worked to this point.

their dreadful bench is a good indicator of GM malpractice tho.

he is good in the offs but he's aging and that contract would probably mess up future cap space for them. also i think what the mavs really need is a someone on the wing with a lot of athleticism....that's where their team is lacking to me.

xp i think it's acute with the mavs, they have a lot of interesting parts and skilled guys and carlisle can fit them together, but their cap situation basically gives them one more big move to go with luka and zinger and if i'm them i'm holding out for a guy who is on the wing and is really going to fit with those two.

yeah mavs getting good so fast is putting them in danger of ending up in no mans land

and theyre making their role players work right now but really those guys arent that good

plus there's a decent chance porzingis doesn't play up to his contract which really puts some pressure on the next move.

yeah, they dont have a lot of assets to flip. they already lost the 2019 pick getting luka. theyve got lots of good role player contracts, but that kristaps deal is pretty massive.
