lebron since leaving miami has always made this question particularly complicated bcuz his playoff level and regular season level are not the same. anyone saying they would take giannis over lebron in a finals game 7 where they had anything legitimate wagered is lying to themselves.

my only explanation for the mavs is that when rick carlisle is trying there's no coach i trust more to take a bunch of randos and turn them into a functional team.

yeah hes very good at that, feel the last 4 years the mavs started out like 5-20 and ended up making the playoffs

Sad to see Ben Simmons turn into Jahlil Okafor crossed with Michael Carter-Williams in the fourth quarter.

Sixers fans should be furious about his lack of offensive development. Simmons is still a cowardly shooter, a half-court liability and a detriment to Philly's playoff odds.

In fact Doncic is the only starter with a positive on/off. Their bench players just seem better. Curry>hardaway, Brunson> finney-smith etc

yeah its not saying anything about doncic really, their offensive rating still goes way up in his on minutes, just that the team still plays above average without him

yeah theyre playing better guys in non luka minutes because of style of play overlaps

this has been my exact thought. and their bench has been shockingly good

raw on-off numbers are worse than useless in general

whiteside always goes through stretches where he looks worth the money... in the regular season there will be like a dozen or so games per year where you're like, thank god we had whiteside tonight! the problem is the rest of the games

assuming some other team doesn't do something stupid i think whiteside will actually be good value for whichever contender throws him $5 million or whatever to play the javale/dwight sort of role

this is what melo's reclamation has wrought

melo is shooting a career best from 3, in fact his 3% is actually > his 2%. he's still a neg on VORP and BPM, though.

doesn't matter that you shoot 40% from 3 if you brick a ton of 2s. his TS% is real bad

not bad, just mediocre. which is i guess just what portland needed from him

everyone here agreed that signing melo was a desperation move. when you judge it by that standard, he has been an unexpected success just by fitting in and being usable on the court.

It was a move that made sense. Only team that really could do it
