just athletically speaking idk if the spurs have ever had a player like lonnie. kawhi is an athletic freak but lonnie’s explosiveness is different. if he can knock down threes he’s gonna be an awesome player for them. he’s gonna be able to score at the rim and has the length to be a pest on defense.

lonnie is a big time athlete and has some skill. he could shoot 3s and finish at the rim in college and took big shots. he has a lot of raw talent he just needed to learn to play the game. i think he landed in a great spot and the spurs are going to turn him into a really nice player. in terms of athleticism/ceiling he’s several cuts above what they’ve been working with lately with guys like forbes and white, and they’ve even turned those guys into players.

in all seriousness tho harden gotta do better than 50 in a double ot if he wants to average 40 this year

white is v talented but gets in his own head and overthinks shit, so he has ebbs. forbes is one of the worst defenders in the league, but he tries, and he's an incredibly gifted shooter. lonnie is something else.

lonnie was a 5 star top 15 recruit who was pretty good his one year in college. i think he fell in the draft because he’s had some minor knee issues but it was a steal for the spurs. he’s gonna be better than guys like jerome robinson, troy brown jr, zhaire smith, devencenzo who were taken immediately before him.

he's an awkward fit in the starting lineup bc he still cant shoot and aldridge and derozan dont spread the floor. they also slow the game down and dejounte is most deadly on the fastbreak because of his speed. he had some rough games and seemed to lose confidence and assertiveness. his best minutes tonight were running with lonnie on the break.
