now watch clips where LBJ quits on his team in ECF or where he loses a Finals to Dirk + role players while scoring < 18ppg on poor allaround shooting

lol I'm actually fine with anyone having him as their GOAT. He's very very good at basketball and has been for a long time.

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Tuesday, 3 December 2019 17:36 (six years ago)

and hes still dominant at 34, tho obvs doesnt have the energy level to do it all game every game

lag∞n, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 17:38 (six years ago)

feel like you can make a case for MJ, kareem, or bron as the GOAT but that’s the list

peloton for the painfully alone (m bison), Tuesday, 3 December 2019 17:40 (six years ago)

yeah those are the guys

lag∞n, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 17:41 (six years ago)

jordan was so captivating at the time but when i watch his clips now it just doesnt hit the same, the game has progressed, naturally

lag∞n, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 17:43 (six years ago)

I don’t think some magical thing happens in the playoffs. Giannis is the best player in the world and the only reason he wouldn’t be the best player in the playoffs is variance. The same was true for Lebron.

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 17:43 (six years ago)

MJ's shooting % starting falling by that age, and points/rebs/asts were all down a tick. LBJ basically still has same numbers for all those as he did in the typical late 20s athletic prime.

There are certain players who don’t give a shit about the regular season and turn it on tho

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 17:44 (six years ago)

imho the offs are different

lag∞n, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 17:44 (six years ago)

ding ding ding. lebron couldn’t win in the playoffs until he did. same will be true for giannis

k3vin k., Tuesday, 3 December 2019 17:45 (six years ago)

i'm with matt on this one, the only magical thing that happens is every game is vs a good team that isn't resting any players

ciderpress, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 17:45 (six years ago)

its not magical im sure u guys cld come up w some things thatre different about the playoffs its not hard

lag∞n, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 17:47 (six years ago)

theyre well known and make sense

lag∞n, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 17:47 (six years ago)

ding ding ding. lebron couldn’t win in the playoffs until he did. same will be true for giannis

― k3vin k., Tuesday, December 3, 2019 12:45 PM (two minutes ago) bookmarkflaglink

something mightve changed between the losing and winning something to ding about

lag∞n, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 17:47 (six years ago)

They call fouls less and sometimes they totally shaft role players. Two things that I don’t seeing a big problem for Giannis (certainly wasn’t for Shaq)

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 17:48 (six years ago)

I mean do you think playoff officiating is what gets James Harden

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 17:48 (six years ago)

its def a big part of it

lag∞n, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 17:49 (six years ago)

giannis might want to think about making his game more like shaqs

lag∞n, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 17:49 (six years ago)

imo the 2011 Finals were more about Dirk than Lebron

still hard to fault him too much when he got to the Finals all 4 years he was on the team then 4 more times with the Cavs, all with oddly constructed teams. when Jordan left to go play baseball the Bulls were still pretty decent, they won 55 games & a playoff series, meanwhile all of Bron's ex-teams utterly fell apart the instant he left

frogbs, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 17:49 (six years ago)

Dude he’s shooting like 65% lol

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 17:50 (six years ago)

and he totally crushed until he met the raptors last year

lag∞n, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 17:51 (six years ago)

Variance how do it work

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 17:51 (six years ago)

thats fine if u dont watch basketball

lag∞n, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 17:52 (six years ago)

all superstars go through a process of honing their games, making them bulletproof if they want to beat the best most prepared teams

lag∞n, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 17:52 (six years ago)

When the raptors were up 2-0 on the raptors and Giannis was averaging like 27-15-5 was that because the raptors hadn’t activated playoff mode

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 17:53 (six years ago)

but i mean maybe playing the suns on wednesday night in january is the same as the ecf sure

lag∞n, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 17:53 (six years ago)

*bucks up 2-0

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 17:54 (six years ago)

iirc thats when they switched kawhi onto him

lag∞n, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 17:54 (six years ago)

Hmmm seems like this is all really matchup dependent and not a playoffs thing then

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 17:56 (six years ago)

playoff adjustments baby!

lag∞n, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 17:57 (six years ago)

Giannis had a bad game 3 and that’s all that matters

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 17:58 (six years ago)

idk i dont think its difficult to see the flaws in giannis game

lag∞n, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 18:00 (six years ago)

matchups are more important in the offs cause teams have more time/incentive to prepare, its more strategic than the regular season where u m/l just have to play yr game and move on to the next

lag∞n, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 18:00 (six years ago)

Took the league until game 3 of the eastern conference finals to solve his game, they then forgot

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 18:01 (six years ago)

HOT TAKE: playing the SAME good team for 4-7 games in a row is much different than anything else an NBA player deals with

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Tuesday, 3 December 2019 18:01 (six years ago)

yep

lag∞n, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 18:02 (six years ago)

the playoffs are cool just my opinion, and the contrast w the regular season is one of the best things abt the nba

lag∞n, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 18:03 (six years ago)

having said all that if giannis doesnt actually have a very good team around him is prob a bigger factor, and siakam suddenly becoming a star and so forth

lag∞n, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 18:05 (six years ago)

What I remember about the raptors-bucks series:

-eric bledsoe being the worst player in the nba for a few games
-that one time Kawhi dunked on Giannis and then Giannis swatted him or whatever

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 18:06 (six years ago)

still if he wld stop getting suckered into low% jumpers hed be better off, but thats also based on how he plays if youre constantly handling the ball at the top of the key youre gonna have to take some js

lag∞n, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 18:07 (six years ago)

some day there'll be a player similar to Giannis physically but a knock down shooter, yikes

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Tuesday, 3 December 2019 18:07 (six years ago)

all that becomes exploitable against very good defensive teams w time 2 prepare when small edges matter a lot

lag∞n, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 18:08 (six years ago)

one thing i recall and that series is kawhi just rising up and hitting jumpers in an undefendable fashion

lag∞n, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 18:10 (six years ago)

Kawhi was 11-32 from 3 in that series

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 18:13 (six years ago)

well i was thinking of midrange shots so there

lag∞n, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 18:19 (six years ago)

its true

bam adebayo is perhaps being underappreciated

ciderpress, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 18:29 (six years ago)

hes freakin killing it for sure gonna be making all defensive teams in no time

lag∞n, Tuesday, 3 December 2019 18:31 (six years ago)

Really wish the nuggz had picked him instead of Beasley
