"one free throw counts for all the points" rule on shooting fouls

A is for (Aimless), Thursday, 26 September 2019 19:49 (six years ago)

ok well how does that do the things described in yr post

lag∞n, Thursday, 26 September 2019 19:53 (six years ago)

i don't think the change reduces the value of excellent free throw shooters. you no longer get the hope that the 65% guy is at least going to make one of two.

call all destroyer, Thursday, 26 September 2019 19:53 (six years ago)

thinking good fts wld become slightly more valuable, never seen the numbers but i bet theres more variance between good and bad shooters on the first ft, but i dont think itd really do much except eliminate the worst part of the game

lag∞n, Thursday, 26 September 2019 19:56 (six years ago)

lil less rest for big minute players......

lag∞n, Thursday, 26 September 2019 19:57 (six years ago)

I wish they'd eliminate 2/3rds of the timeouts.

EZ Snappin, Thursday, 26 September 2019 19:58 (six years ago)

otm, i mean commercials are really the worst part of the game if u want to include them

lag∞n, Thursday, 26 September 2019 19:59 (six years ago)

― EZ Snappin, Thursday, September 26, 2019 12:58 PM (five minutes ago) bookmarkflaglink

they kinda did?

The maximum number of timeouts per game has been reduced from 18 to 14 and teams can now call just two timeouts – instead of three – in the final three minutes of regulation. Also, teams now have just two timeouts to use per overtime session instead of three.

big city slam (Spottie), Thursday, 26 September 2019 20:05 (six years ago)

i thought the last 2 mins got noticeably better last year with no more than two timeouts per team

call all destroyer, Thursday, 26 September 2019 20:06 (six years ago)

yeah

lag∞n, Thursday, 26 September 2019 20:10 (six years ago)

yeah it was a great move and made for some crazier endings

big city slam (Spottie), Thursday, 26 September 2019 20:11 (six years ago)

v much looking forward to this 1 ft experiment

Clay, Thursday, 26 September 2019 20:21 (six years ago)

4 out of 18 is not 2/3rds.

EZ Snappin, Thursday, 26 September 2019 20:26 (six years ago)

no, it's 4/18ths

yeah agree. I left out the part of my thinking where I totally get rid of FTs on hacks committed on a guy in the paint.

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Thursday, 26 September 2019 20:41 (six years ago)

idc i just want to see some hoopses

(•̪●) (carne asada), Thursday, 26 September 2019 20:43 (six years ago)

lag∞n, Friday, 27 September 2019 03:54 (six years ago)

i guess shooting 1 for 2 disadvantages the shooters team slightly as they can no longer get 1pt plus an oreb/putback

micah, Friday, 27 September 2019 05:00 (six years ago)

It feels like something will go wrong for the lakers because it always does

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 28 September 2019 20:22 (six years ago)

idk feel like they had a couple pretty smooth years

Clay, Saturday, 28 September 2019 20:23 (six years ago)

This is rad:

DJI, Monday, 30 September 2019 17:01 (six years ago)

apple news can go suck an egg. what is this rad thing I won't click on?

A is for (Aimless), Monday, 30 September 2019 17:04 (six years ago)

Tried to de-Apple-ify the link but could figure out how. CA to start letting NCAA players take endorsement money.

Now I'm at a real computer, so here you go:

DJI, Monday, 30 September 2019 17:26 (six years ago)

hope they address retroactive reparations back to the 50's; whole lotta people who are owed millions.

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Monday, 30 September 2019 17:52 (six years ago)

Whoa. The rest of the country is gonna have to follow suit or all the top HS recruits are gonna go to Cali, no?

Fetchboy, Monday, 30 September 2019 21:41 (six years ago)

that's the idea

Clay, Monday, 30 September 2019 21:54 (six years ago)

ncaa threatened to drop all cali schools if the law went through, hard to imagine thats not a bluff tho

lag∞n, Monday, 30 September 2019 21:56 (six years ago)

Wouldn't mind having a dominant Pac12...

lol what an ugly shot

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 1 October 2019 00:23 (six years ago)

he missed so it's bad

Clay, Tuesday, 1 October 2019 00:28 (six years ago)

if he figures out how to make that u just gotta tip yr cap

lag∞n, Tuesday, 1 October 2019 00:33 (six years ago)

yeah looks deadly in theory but idk how you reliably hit such a wild shot

Clay, Tuesday, 1 October 2019 00:36 (six years ago)

it starts off somewhat smooth but gets very awkward near the release

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 1 October 2019 00:38 (six years ago)

def looks like a work in progress

lag∞n, Tuesday, 1 October 2019 00:44 (six years ago)

looks like he wants to open up at the end but all his momentum is going the other way so its a pretty effortful operation

lag∞n, Tuesday, 1 October 2019 00:46 (six years ago)

Bron got a decent 2-pt version of that shot working a couple years ago.

DJI, Tuesday, 1 October 2019 00:49 (six years ago)

yeah this

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 1 October 2019 00:51 (six years ago)

Especially going that way while left-handed.

DJI, Tuesday, 1 October 2019 00:54 (six years ago)

Seems like he gets more separation with the side step he does compared to that.

big city slam (Spottie), Tuesday, 1 October 2019 04:38 (six years ago)

i think in basketball it will have less of an effect on the top players as long as the one and done system stays in place... i don't think there's anything UCLA or USC could've offered zion or RJ barrett in 1 year that would outweigh what they netted, longterm, from going to duke

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 1 October 2019 16:06 (six years ago)

it will prob be a different story in football where you have to be in school for 3 years no matter how good you are

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 1 October 2019 16:08 (six years ago)

But no one knows what you look like in football

big city slam (Spottie), Tuesday, 1 October 2019 16:17 (six years ago)

no but think of video game and apparel sales

i'm not a garbageman i am garbage, man. let me handle my garbage, damn (m bison), Tuesday, 1 October 2019 16:30 (six years ago)

speaking of video game here's some quality basketball content while we wait for the real thing to start

ciderpress, Tuesday, 1 October 2019 16:49 (six years ago)

I’m pretty sure harden was just tucking around with that shot btw, there’s no way that can be a reliable look
