Nerlens turning down that big contract a couple years back will haunt him his whole life

big city slam (Spottie), Sunday, 14 July 2019 04:08 (six years ago)

yeah that was dum

lag∞n, Sunday, 14 July 2019 04:09 (six years ago)

looks like tillman fertiti might not be about that life after all

Per @ShamsCharania: “The #Rockets are still not comfortable and have been resisting toward going that deep into the luxury tax to acquire Iguodala in a potential sign and trade....Their tax bill could rise upwards of $20 million by trading for Iguodala.” https://t.co/IEBciBgu7i

big city slam (Spottie), Monday, 15 July 2019 17:05 (six years ago)

neither of those teams shd want him lol

lag∞n, Monday, 15 July 2019 17:08 (six years ago)

ur crazy what team wouldnt want him?

big city slam (Spottie), Monday, 15 July 2019 17:14 (six years ago)

if you're a team who is just building a roster for the playoffs you'd def take iggy

J0rdan S., Monday, 15 July 2019 17:31 (six years ago)

i think fertita got really offended by this notion that he wouldn't pay the tax... in that tim mcmahon story about the rockets he was very adamant about this. it feels like he's dying to overcorrect.

J0rdan S., Monday, 15 July 2019 17:31 (six years ago)

good news for either L.A. team

The last few years have been a whirlwind for Dwight Howard. He’s headed toward playing on his fifth team in five years — and seventh in nine years — after the Washington Wizards traded him to the Memphis Grizzlies.

It seems increasingly likely that the Grizzlies will have to release him instead of finding a trade partner, which could again give Howard the choice of his new home. And if Howard had his druthers, he’d rejoin an old team.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Howard said he’d be open to returning to the Los Angeles Lakers.

“I don’t know what's going to happen, but I do love L.A.,” Howard said. “Staples Center is going to be rocking this season. When I played there it was rocking every night. The atmosphere is crazy, not just for the Lakers but the Clippers, too. I just think all the hard work they’ve put in is paying off now. They’ve always been viewed as the Lakers’ little brother, but they decided to stand out and be different and you have to thank guys like Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan and Chris Paul for laying the foundation for this team, and then what Doc [Rivers] has done has been great. This is just all that hard work paying off.”

omar little, Monday, 15 July 2019 17:32 (six years ago)

iggys a 35 y/o borderline starter who makes $11m a/y its not hard to do better than that

lag∞n, Monday, 15 July 2019 17:33 (six years ago)

on the other hand plz send dwight back to la

lag∞n, Monday, 15 July 2019 17:34 (six years ago)

who also cant shoot xp

lag∞n, Monday, 15 July 2019 17:35 (six years ago)

idk until proven otherwise i'd say his playoff value is pretty high esp for a team that won't need him to do much on offense

J0rdan S., Monday, 15 July 2019 17:39 (six years ago)

yeah you take him with the expectation that he helps you in a deep playoff series as a versatile defender. i wouldn't expect much (any) regular season value.

call all destroyer, Monday, 15 July 2019 17:46 (six years ago)

teams just straight up not guarding him + high risk of being injured/cooked seems not great

lag∞n, Monday, 15 July 2019 17:47 (six years ago)

+who knows where his heads at after being separated from his stated only reason to live steph curry

lag∞n, Monday, 15 July 2019 17:48 (six years ago)

when he had a bunch of other great players around him it didn't really matter that teams didn't guard him... to me the question is whether he will maintain enough athleticism to still be a lockdown defender on the wing on the most important playoff possessions. if the answer is yes then that's worth $11 million to an actual contender

J0rdan S., Monday, 15 July 2019 17:49 (six years ago)

if the sixers were going into the east finals are you 100% certain you'd rather have tobias harris than igoudala

J0rdan S., Monday, 15 July 2019 17:50 (six years ago)

yes

lag∞n, Monday, 15 July 2019 17:51 (six years ago)

staying away from guys who are ~35+ seems like a good rule of thumb unless u cant get them for the min or theyre some sort of freaky superstar

lag∞n, Monday, 15 July 2019 17:55 (six years ago)

he hit 5 threes against the rockets to kill them off. game winning strip on lillard to kill them off. had 22 points in game 6 vs raps. also had his best regular season as a warriors imo. hes still very useful and hes really smart. great locker room vet, the rockets need a guy like him probably more than anything else, pj tucker cant do it alone. injury issues are real of course but hes worth a gamble for either of those teams.

big city slam (Spottie), Monday, 15 July 2019 17:57 (six years ago)

not worth the opportunity cost imho, if youre paying a role player who cant get buckets they shd at least have live legs and not be a big injury risk

lag∞n, Monday, 15 July 2019 17:58 (six years ago)

he led the playoffs in dunks iirc hes still got bounce

big city slam (Spottie), Monday, 15 July 2019 17:59 (six years ago)

not being guarded helps with that

lag∞n, Monday, 15 July 2019 18:00 (six years ago)

there's little opportunity cost other than the owners money. like i probably wouldn't trade for him now but at the deadline based on who else is around he'd be worth it. there just aren't that many 16 game players on the wing that are going to be available.

call all destroyer, Monday, 15 July 2019 18:01 (six years ago)

he shot 35% or better from three in the offs every year with the dubs except for one.

big city slam (Spottie), Monday, 15 July 2019 18:02 (six years ago)

not a great % on wide open looks

lag∞n, Monday, 15 July 2019 18:02 (six years ago)

a smart team cld def find better ways to use that money

lag∞n, Monday, 15 July 2019 18:02 (six years ago)

such as?

not at this point they couldnt

big city slam (Spottie), Monday, 15 July 2019 18:03 (six years ago)

theres a lotta guys out there

lag∞n, Monday, 15 July 2019 18:04 (six years ago)

they'd be smarter to trade for a young dynamic wing like Andrew Wiggins, a defensive minded big like Gorgui Dieng....or maybe a proven vet PG like Jeff Teague

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Monday, 15 July 2019 18:09 (six years ago)

haha yup

big city slam (Spottie), Monday, 15 July 2019 18:10 (six years ago)

wolves number one priority should be pairing kat up with anyone other than wiggins.

big city slam (Spottie), Monday, 15 July 2019 18:11 (six years ago)

Well given summer league it's possible KAT may have to come off the bench once NAZ REID becomes starter

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Monday, 15 July 2019 18:14 (six years ago)

thats the summer league spirit baby

big city slam (Spottie), Monday, 15 July 2019 18:27 (six years ago)

I'm seeing Iggy at $17 million for next year, where are y'all getting $11?

Evans on Hammond (evol j), Monday, 15 July 2019 19:01 (six years ago)

its what google shows just looked again tho and it says 2017 under it lol, $17m is legit good player money giving iggy at that is loony

lag∞n, Monday, 15 July 2019 19:34 (six years ago)

we can prob operate under the assumption that he'll either get bought out and signed for much less money or traded at a point in the season where the team taking him on doesn't have to pay the whole salary

J0rdan S., Monday, 15 July 2019 19:59 (six years ago)

right. the calculation isn't $17 mil cash for andre, it's ~$17 mil in existing filler salary plus a pick or something. nobody's just taking him into cap space at this point.

call all destroyer, Monday, 15 July 2019 20:18 (six years ago)

I’m having a hard time with the idea Ben Simmons is worth $34 million a year

EZ Snappin, Monday, 15 July 2019 20:22 (six years ago)

he isn't but that's not really the point.

call all destroyer, Monday, 15 July 2019 20:35 (six years ago)

yeah you take him with the expectation that he helps you in a deep playoff series as a versatile defender. i wouldn't expect much (any) regular season value.

you know who could use a player like this is the denver nuggets

k3vin k., Monday, 15 July 2019 21:26 (six years ago)

Once guard JR Smith clears waivers, the Los Angeles Lakers are an unlikely destination, league sources tell ESPN.

mott the hoopleheads (voodoo chili), Monday, 15 July 2019 22:20 (six years ago)

has he played since "the incident"? seems like he went into a shell after that.

big city slam (Spottie), Monday, 15 July 2019 22:20 (six years ago)

So woj is saying there’s a chance!

mott the hoopleheads (voodoo chili), Monday, 15 July 2019 22:21 (six years ago)

that's def a leak the lakers put out preemptively so they don't have to answer questions about why they're not signing him

J0rdan S., Monday, 15 July 2019 22:22 (six years ago)

windhorst and others have been saying for weeks it's basically a done deal

J0rdan S., Monday, 15 July 2019 22:22 (six years ago)

the lakers are bad

ciderpress, Monday, 15 July 2019 22:30 (six years ago)

they’re a very very weird org

Clay, Monday, 15 July 2019 23:02 (six years ago)

they're not 'weird' they're just the classic bad org

ciderpress, Monday, 15 July 2019 23:08 (six years ago)
