this is a great point. if nothing else kawhi deserves credit for baffling people. i'll take it back if he signs with the lakers.

Lakers seem like a good pick but Kawhi I think strangely thrives as a leader, and I say this despite the drama in San Antonio and his general weird energy. Not sure he’s ready to go from leading a team to the crown to being what would widely be viewed as the #3 guy. But I have no idea.

if he chose to play with lebron and AD in a weakened west it would be understandable on like a base level but.... it wouldn't really make sense to me for any other reason

i mean tbh having 3 #1 options is not ideal, obvs you wld kill to get those 3 guys but youre never going to max out their talents that way

Layman's young, but not green. He's developed well during his 3 years as a Blazer, to the point where he was perfectly fine off the bench for short minutes as an 'energy' player, or a short term starter occasionally, at need. Decent shooter. Decent defense. Not a rebounder. At $4 mill/year the Wolves got him at the right price.

Wolves obviously are in a terrible spot w/r/t to cap & contracts and also being cursed for all eternity by dark forces more powerful than we can imagine...

...but so far they do seem to be making pretty good pickups on the margins of players for good value (Vonleh, Bell, this guy)
